  • *FEDERER 4-6 7-5 0-0 WAWRINKA*
At LAST Wawrinka IS broken. I'm not going to say I told you, but...I told you! Unbelievable game - Federer went 30-0 up with a brilliant winner at full stretch. Then Wawrinka contrived to dump the most straightforward of smashes into the net, which he was almost on top of. 0-40. And Federer takes the first set point to break his opponent for the first time in the match and level it up. It had to come - it had to.

  • FEDERER 4-6 7-5 0-1 WAWRINKA*
You can't fathom it, you just can't. The momentum is all with Federer, and he decides the first game of the deciding set would be a good time to have his worst game of the match. He's broken to 15, some silly mistakes, some poor serving....Wawrinka goes a break up. But there was also a weird thing happen at 0-30 which upset Fed. The umpire overruled a wide call against Wawrinka, but Fed didn't contest it. It was only when he heard the call '0-40' that he realised what had happened - he claimed he didn't hear the umpire's call but by then it was too late.

  • FEDERER 4-6 7-5 0-2 WAWRINKA*
Once again Wawrinka has to battle to hold onto his serve, but once again he does. Federer looks distinctly unhappy, perhaps still upset about the overrule incident in the last game.

  • FEDERER 4-6 7-5 1-2 WAWRINKA*
Much more like it from Federer - simple hold. He's mind is back on business.

  • *FEDERER 4-6 7-5 1-3 WAWRINKA
Another lucky escape from Wawrinka who must be the first person ever to benefit from Roger Federer framing two consecutive balls, under no real pressure, out the back of the court. Those two errors came at 30-30. Absolute gifts.

  • FEDERER 4-6 7-5 2-3 WAWRINKA*
Stunning - literally. Fed is cruising at 30-0. He approaches the net, Waw drives ferociously from the back of the court with his backhand -  and hits Fed! I've never seen that happen. Next point, Fed charges the net again, again Waw drives ferociously, and this time it clips the top of the net and beats Fed's racket. 30-30. Fed steadies himself, and two service winners secures him the game. But cricky, this is some match. Wawrinka incidently, has noticibly upped his percentage on his first serve. He's up past 50 now, and he's done that by dropping the speed by between five-10 mph on average. It's working so far.

  • *FEDERER 4-6 7-5 2-4 WAWRINKA
Wawrinka holds to love! That's got to be the first time that has happened this evening. Her's helped by a poor Federer miss from a smash he would ordinarily have for breakfast.
    11/15/2014 10:09:51 PM

  • Waw is PUMPED!

  • FEDERER 4-6 7-5 3-4 WAWRINKA*
Big, big game for Federer there. An absolute peach of a backhand from Wawrinka has the crowd on its feet, a stunning winner from the baseline to go 30-0 up. Fed smashes a ball into the stand in frustration. But Fed claws his way back into it, putting away a smash, and then, after forcing Waw to go long with a forehand at deuce, he wins the game and stays very much in what is now the longest match of the week at two hours and two minutes.

Incredible game, incredible hold in what has become an incredible match. Another 30-30, Waw goes way, way wide with a wild forehand. Fed has a break point but is a fraction wide with what looked winner. He earns a second break point but Waw saves himself with a terribly lucky volley off the frame - Fed is horrified. Back and forth it goes until Waw buries a volley and serves out.

  • FEDERER 4-6 7-5 4-5 WAWRINKA*
What a champion Fed is - he won't go quietly. He holds to 30, with another memorable point in another fine game. An exchange of volleys from Fed, a couple of smashes, somehow all ends with Fed back on the baseline, Waw at the net, and Fed's lob is about as bad as it gets - it's more like a feed in the warm-up. Waw buries it to make it 40-30, but Waw then goes long with a backhand. He is going to have to serve this out. Thrilling finish at the O2!

  • *FEDERER 4-6 7-5 5-5 WAWRINKA
Just amazing - Federer saved THREE match points in that game. The first with a stunning forehand pass down the line. Waw then missed a terrible volley with the next,. Then Fed pummeled Waw at the net, before passing him with a backhand down the line. He sets up game point with another drive, and serves out. Nerves of STEEL! It's all square!!!

Federer. What. A Player. He fights his way back from 40-15 down, a superb serve and then nerveless attacking play forcing the error. Back on deuce, he just has too much now for Wawrinka, who looks utterly, utterly forlorn. Wawrinka has given it everything, he should have this match in the bag. Three match points missed. 40-15 up in this game. And now he must serve just to stay in the match.

Tell you what, Wawrinka? He's got some real grit this lad. 15-30 down, the crowd willing you to lose. A superb backhand winner, and two Fed mistakes and it's 6-6. It's a tie-break to decide it folks.,.

A quite extraordinary match ends with a fittingly thrilling tie-break, and Federer somehow, SOMEHOW pulls this one out of the bag. Federer was bossing it at 5-3, but full credit to Stan Wawrinka, who clawed his way back into it at 5-5. Federer then sliced a backhand into the net - match-point to Wawrinka, his fourth of the match. But he saw the back pages, went for glory, but smacked his return long. Fed set up a match point nervelessly, and at 7-6, he finished it with a cold-blooded drop-shot volley - Wawrinka had nothing left to chase it down. Stunning match, easily the best of the week and one of the best of the year. Tomorrow night it is the final we (let's be honest) all hoped for, and the final the season demanded - it's Djokovic v Federer.

  • Well ladies and gents, boys and girls - it has been a lot of fun this evening I must say. An epic match, just an absolute rollercoaster. This photo sums it up,,,

    11/15/2014 11:12:43 PM
I'll be back here tomorrow for finals of course. You can get all the reaction, and a full report on the website and your mobiles shortly. It's Federer v Djokovic - it's 6pm tomorrow evening. Do. Not. Miss. It. The doubles starts at 3.30pm...and I'll be covering that too. For now, thanks so much for reading, good night from the O2 - and see you all tomorrow!
    11/15/2014 11:18:19 PM
Welcome back to the O2, it's finals day at the ATP World Tour Finals. Coming up shortly it's the doubles final between the great Bob and Mike Bryan and the massive underdogs Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo. Then, from 6pm, it's the singles - it's Djokovic v Federer. Ker-boooooom!
    11/16/2014 3:34:25 PM

  • Here we are again....
    11/16/2014 3:37:44 PM

  • The media scrum - well, these two anyway..
    11/16/2014 3:39:04 PM
Ok, so here's the thing with this final. The Bryans, well they are legends of the game already. They are trying to win this thing for the fourth time, and it's their sixth final. Dodig and Melo? This is their second time here. They have made seven ATP final together but they only have one tournament win, Shanghai last year. On paper, it's a mismatch. However, some well informed commentators - Leif Shiras - tipped these two to win it at the beginning of the week. And here they are....gotta count for something...
    11/16/2014 3:45:14 PM
And that is the perfect start from the underdogs. Dodig holds serve to love. Solid volleying from the pair, defences stay rock solid. And it's a comfortable and confidence-boosting hold first up.
    11/16/2014 3:47:23 PM

  • 11/16/2014 3:47:44 PM

  • It's the Bryans....
    11/16/2014 3:49:48 PM

  • Against Dodig and Melo in mellow yellow...
    11/16/2014 3:50:27 PM
Well now, the Bryans hold, but Melo and Dodig take that game to deuce, Dodig's sensational lob the pick of the shots. The Bryans cling on - that was on Bob's serve, by far the superior of the two - as well...
    11/16/2014 3:52:26 PM
Brilliant from the yellows! Melo and Dodig hold comfortably, good aggressive doubles play, solid volleying, giving the Bryans nothing to play with. They hold to 15.
