  • BRYAN/BRYAN 2-2 MELO/DODIG*
More like it from the Bryans, they hold to love this time. It's like playing a wall against these two once they are at the net. You've got to go for it a bit on the return because once they reach the net you are toast, a stunning lob your only option.

    11/16/2014 3:56:29 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 3-3 MELO/DODIG*
This is just rattling along here, the Bryans hold again, to 15. Hard to see how anyone is going to break the pair, such is the standard of serving and volleying.
    11/16/2014 4:02:40 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 3-4 MELO/DODIG
MASSIVE hold from Melo, boy he was under pressure there at 0-40. Couple of lacklustre volleys - one well long, had put them under severe pressure. But they didn't panic, just went back to basics, three winners and they were back on deuce, and Melo served out from there.
    11/16/2014 4:06:51 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 4-4 MELO/DODIG*
Mike Bryan holds, but Melo/Dodig had a chance there. They went 0-15 up, another peach of a lob setting up a winner, but then Melo fired a big chance down the wide line. The Bryans kill off the game quickly from there.
    11/16/2014 4:09:48 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 4-5 MELO/DODIG
Great stuff from Dodig on serve. First point, bit of pressure, a huge lob went up, right side, Mike B moved across for the intercept, but Dodig calmly, and gently, smash/volleyed it to the left. An ace, and another top smash from Dodig helps them win the game. Bob Bwill now serve to stay in set. No breaks so far.
    11/16/2014 4:13:40 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 5-5 MELO/DODIG*
No problems holding to 15, but you don't see this often. Bob, serving to the right court, hits his brother in the HEAD. Mike had been inching across to his right, keeping Melo thinking - but an inch too far this time. He's poleaxed, but is quickly up smiling. They hold, it's Dodig to serve.
    11/16/2014 4:16:39 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 5-6 MELO/DODIG
Top stuff from Dodig, a hold to 15. They are mixing up their tactics nicely these two. For the first three points, Melo crouched down right on the centre line rather than his usual place at the net. Once the serve had whistled past his ears, he jumped up, moved left or right in a planned move, his partner going the other way.
    11/16/2014 4:19:59 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-6 MELO/DODIG
Mike Bryan holds to 15 - but the highlight of that game was a majesterial drive winner from Dodig on the baseline, perfectly bisecting the Bryans who had been bossing the point. He almost secured another winner with another brilliant backhand down the line, but the ball clipped the top of the net, taking it a fraction wide. Tie-break time...
    11/16/2014 4:22:45 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-6 (0-4) MELO/DODIG
Melo and Dodig race into a 4-0 lead, two bullet returns - they just went of it - securing two mini-breaks...!
    11/16/2014 4:24:08 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-6 (1-5) MELO/DODIG
Double fault from Mike Bryan - terrible time for that, and it's 5-1 to Dodig and Melo!
    11/16/2014 4:25:29 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-6 (4-5) MELO/DODIG
Two STUNNING returns against Dodig, and the Bryans and back it, 4-5, back on serve.
    11/16/2014 4:27:05 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 (5-7) 0-0 MELO/DODIG
First set to Melo and Dodig. The Bryans looked like they were going to pinch that, fighting back from 5-1 down to 5-5. But a superb lob from Dodig was the key - Mike Bryan could not deal with it - 5-6 - and Melo's serve was too good for Bob, the return going wide. A big surprise on the cards here at the O2....!
    11/16/2014 4:30:36 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 1-0 MELO/DODIG*
A straightforward hold from Bob Bryan, to love, opens the second set. The Californian twins have been here many times before of course, and there will be zero panic in the Bryan camp. Remember, they have been beaten already this week, to the Polish/Swedish combo of Kubot and Lindstedt.
    11/16/2014 4:33:26 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 1-1 MELO/DODIG
Top hold from Dodig - the Bryans scrapped their way to 30-30, but Dodig bails them out with an ace and a volleyed winner.
    11/16/2014 4:36:19 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 2-1 MELO/DODIG*
Simple hold for Mike Bryan, some big serves too there. No breaks yet, Melo to serve next.  Some slebs in the crowd getting their moment - Hugh Grant, Jude Law....
    11/16/2014 4:38:39 PM

  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 3-1 MELO/DODIG
Terrible, terrible game for the underdogs. A woeful volley from Dodig at the net, a double fault from Melo help the Bryans break - the first of the match.

    11/16/2014 4:42:51 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 4-1 MELO/DODIG*
Bob Bryan gets out of jail a little bit there - a hold to 30. Dodig won the first point of the game with a stunning backhand down the line pass, but Melo and Dodig have gone off the boil a little. Are they too scared to win this? They are the only partnership in the eight here this week who have not won a single title this year. They are the seventh seeds. They are not supposed to be in the final and they are definitely not supposed to win it. Psychologically, can they get themselves in a place where they don't care about reputations?
    11/16/2014 4:46:38 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 4-2 MELO/DODIG
That will help - a hold to love from Dodig, whose serving has been top notch this afternoon.
    11/16/2014 4:49:21 PM
  • BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 5-2 MELO/DODIG*
STUNNING GAME! Rally of the tournament, with not one but two hot dog shots - playing the ball through your legs - in one rally. Bob Bryan was lobbed, raced back, hot-dogged a lob, somehow, which forced Dodig to scuttle back, and HE hot-dogged too! Mike Bryan volleyed the winner - and the pair chest-pumped. Melo then smacked a sublime pass down the line, and they had a break point at 30-40, but a bullet serve from Mike B, and a volleyed winner from his bro wins the game.
    11/16/2014 4:53:39 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 6-2 MELO/DODIG
Game and second set to the Bryan brothers! Melo's serve is proving the weak point and he is broken again. It's a Champs tie-break to settle this one now.

  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 6-2  3-3 MELO/DODIG
Great start to the breaker - Melo and Dodig secure a mini-break with the first point, but the Bryans win the next three. Back come the yellows, Melo passing superbly with his return, a down-the-line backhand. Then Mike Bryan finds the net to a return off Melo's serve. 3-3....it's anyone's...

  • Tension, tension....
    11/16/2014 5:06:11 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 6-2 7-6 MELO/DODIG
Tense - the Bryans roar into a 7-4 lead, but back come Melo and Dodig, cutting it to 7-6.....

  • [bn]GAME SET AND MATCH BOB AND MIKE BRYAN!!!!
    11/16/2014 5:08:47 PM
  • *BRYAN/BRYAN 6-7 2-6 10-7 MELO/DODIG
The twins have done it again!!! It's their fourth title in the Tour Finals, and they did it the hard way. It's the 103rd title of their career. Melo and Dodig - well,we'll be seeing them again, a superb effort from them. At 7-4 down they looked out of it, but Dodig's superb return, got them back in it. It became 7-6, but Mike Bryan's bullet forehand made it 8-6. A stunning Melo reflex volley, followed by Dodig's drop shot, made it 8-6. A big serve from Bob Bryan and a Melo lob which drifted long, means the Californians are champions again.

  • [bn]FEDERER PULLS OUT OF FINAL
Terrible news tennis fans. Roger Federer has had to pull out of tonight's final against Novak Djokovic because of a back injury.

  • FED PULLS OUT
Well, let's start with Federer first. Let's not pretend that is anything other than a massive disappointment for us all. The great man came onto court, and apologised in person to the packed arena. He has a back injury following last night's marathon epic against Stan Wawrinka. It happens, but hey, we're all gutted. The crowd in the O2 are gutted, us hacks are gutted, and I'm sure you are too. It would have been some match. The first implication is that Djokovic is crowned champion, for the third straight year.
    11/16/2014 5:34:44 PM
  • FED PULLS OUT
Now, imagine you are the tournament organisers. They would have got a call this morning from Fed's camp, saying it wasn't looking good. I mean, that's not a great phone call to take when you have sold up to 18000 tickets for tonight. But fair play to them - what they have as compensation is not bad is it? The fans will get to see Murray - that was greeted with a HUGE cheer - and then, McEnroe, Muzza, Henman and Cash. That's not bad is it? And you can watch it all on Sky Sports 3.....
    11/16/2014 5:40:08 PM
  • FED'S EXPLANATION
"Unfortunately I'm not match-fit to play tonight. Clearly I wish it wasn't this way. You try all year to be ready for the ATP World Tour Finals and I didn't want it to end this way. I tried everything I could last night and today - painkillers, rest - until the very end, but I can't compete at this level with Novak. In a final like this and at my age, it would be too risky. I hope you understand." - Roger Federer

    11/16/2014 5:45:35 PM
  • FED PULLS OUT
Well, I suppose if Federer's season was ending here, he might have gritted his teeth and played on. But he has a Davis Cup final next week against France, playing with Wawrinka.
    11/16/2014 5:49:02 PM

  • FED PULLS OUT
There is going to be a presentation on court shortly for Djokovic. The fireworks and confetti that the O2 ordered will be staying in their boxes, quite right in the circumstances....
    11/16/2014 5:53:34 PM
  • BACK TO THE BRYANS
Now, apologies to the Bryans, but we haven't really given them much in the way of coverage. Here at the O2, we were all preparing for the Federer announcement, and couldn't get our snaps ready. So...let's do this thing...
