  • NEPTUNE NOVICES' HURDLE

Sam Twiston-Davies gets his first Cheltenham winner as a professional on The New One...
This is him in his full glory. He jumped brilliant and travelled away great. You won't get a much better feeling than that. It was absolute class. I had a bit of trouble in running coming down the hill. This race looked very competitive and considering we got a few knocks down the hill he has really picked up

  • CORAL CUP HANDICAP HURDLE

Certainly another one to leave the bookies smiling as Medinas went off a 33/1 shot. He might only be a little horse, but he flew over the last fence and got the run on his rivals ahead of him to pull away and emerge a clear winner.

[skybet]Sprinter Sacre's superlative performance this afternoon has prompted this response from the trading room...
After Sprinter Sacre’s demolition in the Champion Chase we are 2/5 for him to repeat that victory in 2014. Simonsig, winner of the Arkle on Tuesday, is 6/1 in the same race. Who will jockey Barry Geraghty go for in that race?

  • VIEW OF THE BOOKIES

[skybet]It sounds like they've enjoyed the last couple of hours in the Sky Bet office, another unfancied winner in the last means dinner will be tasting good for Steve and his cohorts... but don't forget there's one final chance to wipe the smiles off their faces!
It’s not yet time to crack open the champagne but day two of the Festival gets better by the race for the bookies. Flaxen Flare’s victory in the Fred Winter completes another win for the Irish and our best result of the day.

  • GOLD CUP

Jockey Barry Geraghty knows pre-race favourite Bobs Worth better than anybody and he wouldn't swap his ride in Friday's big race for anything despite being off the course since November...

I think it's irrelevant (that he hasn't had a run). He's had no hold-ups. He scoped badly but he never missed a day of work. He worked at Kempton a couple of weeks ago and went really well, he seems in great shape and I wouldn't swap him. Myself and my brother bought him as a yearling and Nicky bought him off us so I've known him a long time.

  • INSPECTION LATEST

The cross-country course will face an inspection at 2.15pm today ahead of the re-arranged Glenfarclas Handicap Chase. The track was frozen on Tuesday and there are still some concerns, with an initial look at 11am proving inconclusive.

  • GOLD CUP PREVIEW

Trainer Willie Mullins is looking for his first Gold Cup winner in Sir Des Champs and believes a clear round cold be decisive.

If he can just keep those errors out of his jumping, he has every chance. He's a top-class horse but he's in against top-class horses and you don't win Gold Cups easily. If he can keep his jumping right, then we will just have to take what we get. The Gold Cup is certainly an ambition of mine.

    3/14/2013 11:12:40 AM
  • GOLD CUP PREVIEW

Paul Nicholls saddles Silviniaco Conti in the big race and is expecting a bold show.

He's won his last four chases, and he's three from three this year. He's run in great Gold Cup trials and he keeps winning. "He does everything right - he keeps jumping, he travels well and he keeps winning. He's not flashy - he just does the job - and that's what I like about him. People say he doesn't have Cheltenham experience but that's only because he hasn't been there. He jumps well, has a bit of pace and he stays. It's an interesting race but I'm very happy with him. You'd have to think we'd have a grand chance.

  • JEWSON WRAP

Tom Scudamore, rider of the vanquished Dynaste, was hit with a whip ban by the stewards.

He's run a great race and he's the best of the English horses. He jumped fantastically and was beaten by a better horse on the day. It seems that the Irish staying novices are better this year.

  • AP McCoy

A first winner for AP McCoy this week but the 17-time
champion jockey could only think of friend and colleague JT McNamara who is in hospital
    after his bad fall yesterday.

Its always nice to have a winner at Cheltenham – the day is marred with sadness with JT and what he’s going through and his family going through.Even now we feel guilty to be here it just feels like we should be doing something for him and we wish we could. He’s Such a good horse, great attitude all year round, it’s a pleasure to ride, but very hard to be happy today with what happened yesterday to JT McNamara. I’m glad this won for the boss as he’s pretty upset about JT and it just shows you have to enjoy these moments when you can.
