England v India, Second Test

Live from Lord's

  • We're live on Sky Sports 2 for #EngvInd . Matt Prior and Liam Plunkett are the batsmen as England trail by 52: http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5mcx0CMAATi5c.jpg

  • Over 91 - England 239-6 (Prior 14, Plunkett 8)
Ishant is replaced after just two overs and Shami comes into the attack. He starts with a bouncer which evades Prior and 'keeper Dhoni and races away for four byes. Shami pitches the ball up thereafter and catches Prior's edge when on the drive, only for the ball to drop agonisingly short of Dhawan at first slip. Could Rahane have dived across him from second slip? Probably. A straighter delivery follows and Prior picks it off his pads for a four through midwicket. Lovely shot

  • Over 92 - England 243-6 (Prior 14, Plunkett 12)
Shot! Plunkett belies his status as a No 10 by getting up on his toes and punching Kumar through extra cover for a sublime boundary. World class stroke from the Yorkshire seamer

    7/19/2014 10:27:18 AM
  • Over 93 - England 253-6 (Prior 19, Plunkett 17)
The runs continue to flow for England this morning as Prior and Plunkett both pick up boundaries in a Shami over costing 10. Prior drives through the covers and Plunkett then works a straight delivery through midwicket. Both find the rope and prompt applause from another strong crowd inside Lord's. England trail by 42
    7/19/2014 10:32:12 AM
  • Over 94 - England 261-6 (Prior 19, Plunkett 25)
Plunkett powers past Prior and onto 25 with back-to-back boundaries off Ishant, one driven through the covers, the next pulled powerfully over midwicket. He's got all the shots and India don't know where to bowl to him! England edging closer to parity...
    7/19/2014 10:37:19 AM
  • A very healthy start to the day for England...

    7/19/2014 10:37:59 AM
  • WICKET! Matt Prior is gone, taken by a terrific catch from Dhawan. Eng 265-7. #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5qADYCcAAoPaZ.jpg

  • Three people were under the ball, but it was Dhawan who kept his concentration to take the wicket of Prior: #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5qgvpCcAAEms9.jpg

  • Stokes bld Kumar 0 [wicket]

Kumar has five! He inks his name on the Lord's Honours Board when Stokes is beaten by a full, straight delivery which bowls him via his pad
    7/19/2014 10:42:23 AM
  • Over 95 - England 266-7 (Plunkett 26, Stokes 0)
The wicket of Prior ended a 51-run partnership but the batsmen keep on coming as Stokes strides to the crease. The batsmen had crossed during Prior's dismissal and Plunkett almost joined him back in the pavilion, only to boot the ball away from his stumps after a defensive shot had threatened to come back on to his furniture. Good football skills from Plunkett!

  • Sign that lad up!

    7/19/2014 10:45:39 AM
  • Over 96 - England 272-7 (Plunkett 32, Stokes 0)
Plunkett continues to play his shots and a drive at Ishant squirms off the outside edge and through point for two. The inside edge then produces runs next ball, a good old fashioned Chinese cut passing perilously close to the stumps and down to fine-leg for four. Plunkett riding his luck here. Stokes yet to face. England trail by 23
    7/19/2014 10:48:54 AM
  • Over 97 - England 272-7 (Plunkett 32, Stokes 0)
Stokes settles in with a maiden off Kumar. With Broad and in-form Anderson still to come there's no reason why England can't open up a healthy lead here
    7/19/2014 10:52:42 AM
  • WICKET! Ben Stokes has gone, and Broad is in to bat. Gets off to a good start with a four: #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5u0DXCAAAI5J8.jpg

  • [davidgower] It’s one thing to be positive, another to be reckless. There was no danger of that not carrying.

    7/19/2014 11:03:47 AM
  • Broad went hard at his second ball.

    7/19/2014 11:04:48 AM
  • Over 99 - England 284-9 (Plunkett 36, Anderson 4)
David Gower sums up Stuart Broad's demise perfectly and Kumar (6-66) now has career-best figures. Anderson is the new and last batsman and picks up where he left off at Trent Bridge with an expansive drive through the covers for four. England trail by 11 with just one wicket remaining
    7/19/2014 11:05:51 AM
  • Over 100 - England 285-9 (Plunkett 37, Anderson 4)
England's hopes of a significant lead appear to have been extinguished by Kumar, who is an early contender for player of the series after a Test to remember at Trent Bridge, too. Plunkett picks out the point sweeper for the only run of the 100th over
    7/19/2014 11:09:51 AM
  • Over 101 - England 287-9 (Plunkett 38, Anderson 5)
Plunkett and Anderson trade singles off Kumar to reduce the deficit to just eight. This Test fascinatingly poised at Lord's
    7/19/2014 11:14:06 AM
  • Kumar now part of an elite club of Indian bowlers to have taken six wickets in an innings at Lord's. #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5zCTuIIAExfls.jpg

  • Over 102 - England 293-9 (Plunkett 39, Anderson 10)
Anderson continues to play his shots, giving himself room and cutting Ishant off middle stump through the covers for three. He receives a short ball barrage when back on strike but works the final ball off his ribs for two more. England just two runs from parity
    7/19/2014 11:19:49 AM
  • Over 103 - England 298-9 (Plunkett 40, Anderson 14)
ENGLAND ARE AHEAD! Anderson drives Kumar on the up just wide of mid-off and away for four to put England into the lead. Plunkett is also into the 40s after a single and is now one blow away from a Test best
    7/19/2014 11:23:04 AM
  • Anderson propels England into the lead with a straight drive for four off Kumar. #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5z86RIcAA5gNo.jpg

  • Over 104 - England 305-9 (Plunkett 41, Anderson 19)
Wow! Anderson rockets Shami through the covers off the backfoot to produce the roar of the day. What a shot that was! England have raced past 300 and currently lead by 10. India seemingly running out of ideas against England's tail...
    7/19/2014 11:27:59 AM
  • There it is! Plunkett has his maiden Test fifty off 75 balls with eight fours. #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs51xl4IMAA_gpg.jpg

  • Over 105 - England 314-9 (Plunkett 50, Anderson 19) [50]
50 for Plunkett! His maiden Test half-century. It's been a high class knock, it must be said. Two boundaries off Kumar, one drilled through extra cover, the next edged through the slips, and a single take him to the milestone, coming off 75 balls. England lead by 19
    7/19/2014 11:31:48 AM
  • It'll be Strauss and Warne to see us through to lunch.

    7/19/2014 11:32:06 AM
  • [andrewstrauss] Plunkett has played really well – he’s not looked under pressure and he’s played the situation well.”

    7/19/2014 11:33:06 AM
  • Anderson ct Rahane bld Jadeja 19 [wicket]

Anderson aims a reverse sweep at Jadeja but can only glove straight to Rahane at slip
    7/19/2014 11:35:08 AM
  • England 319 all out
Plunkett is left stranded on 55 not out after Anderson's dismissal. England take a 24-run lead into the second innings
    7/19/2014 11:36:24 AM
  • WICKET! James Anderson is taken by a smart catch from Rahane, from the bowling of Jadeja: England all out for 319. http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs5275ZCQAA00Bv.jpg

  • Here is the match summary. Rahane and Ballance both with centuries, Kumar the pick of the bowlers: #EngvInd http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs53plZCIAAMeRq.jpg

  • [andrewstrauss] This is not a time for England to defend – that time may come. For now it has to be ‘attack, attack, attack’.

  • SKY BET ODDS
[betting]As things stand, England are 6/5 for the win, with India out to 2/1, though a draw still offers decent value at 9/4. Alternatively, England can be backed at 8/13 in the ‘draw no bet’ market. See all Sky Bet’s in-play odds here.

  • India are back out for their 2nd innings. Trail by 24, Anderson with the ball: Live blog: bit.ly/1swJk34 http://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bs55jBACUAIkrQF.jpg

  • Over 1 - India 0-0 (Vijay 0, Dhawan 0)
England to bowl probably four overs before lunch. How they'd love a wicket of two before then. Anderson bowls the first and beats Vijay with a perfectly-pitched away-swinger. So close to the edge. Maiden to start
    7/19/2014 11:48:25 AM
  • Over 2 - India 6-0 (Vijay 0, Dhawan 6)
Dhawan takes strikes against Broad and is in need of a score after contributions of 12, 29 and 7 so far in the series. He gets off the mark with a controlled dab through point for two and then finds the boundary via a thick outside edge along the floor through gully
    7/19/2014 11:53:19 AM
  • Over 3 - India 6-0 (Vijay 0, Dhawan 6)
Anderson is attacking the stumps well here and has a strong lbw appeal on Dhawan turned down after he raps the opener's pad with an inswinger. Replays show it was sliding down leg and a little high, good decision from umpire Oxenford. Anderson beats Vijay on the outside later in the over, a beauty which just left him off the pitch. A fine maiden

  • 7/19/2014 11:59:10 AM
  • Over 4 - India 11-0 (Vijay 0, Dhawan 10)
Broad moves round the wicket for the final over of the session and beats Dhawan with a jaffa first up. The left-hander responds next ball with a confident cut off the backfoot which is timed well and reaches the fence. Too short from Broad, who then errs down leg and concedes a leg-bye. India survive a tricky spell
