  • Over 28 - India 75-2 (Pujara 12, Kohli 20)
Anderson kicks off proceedings after lunch in glorious sunshine at the Home of Cricket. He bowled eight overs in the morning session and Michael Holding believes that was far too many. Two singles and a strangled lbw appeal from his first over back
    7/17/2014 12:45:19 PM
  • Over 29 - India 75-2 (Pujara 12, Kohli 20)
No surprises as Broad, poised on 249 Test wickets, starts the afternoon session alongside Anderson. He is getting plenty of bounce on this quicker, greener surface but Kohli, looking to cash-in on the life he received before lunch, plays out a maiden in solid fashion
    7/17/2014 12:50:13 PM
  • Over 30 - India 77-2 (Pujara 14, Kohli 20)
Anderson is a little down on pace at the start of his second spell and Pujara pushes a half-volley through the covers for two to end his latest over. Already signs that the pitch is beginning to flatten out...
    7/17/2014 12:54:18 PM
  • Over 31 - India 86-2 (Pujara 14, Kohli 25)
Andrew Strauss, on commentary, believes England are 'trying too hard' to prize out a wicket. The case in point comes right on cue when Broad bangs in a bouncer halfway down the pitch which evades Prior, jumping high behind the stumps, and away for four byes. That boundary came shortly after a glorious straight drive from Kohli found the fence at mid-off
    7/17/2014 12:59:02 PM
  • WICKET! Prior makes no mistake this time and Kohli goes for 25 off Anderson. 86-3. #EngvInd

  • [andrewstrauss] It was the ideal delivery from Anderson, especially to Kohli, coming down the slope. Kohli did nothing wrong – it was just too good.

    7/17/2014 1:02:36 PM
  • Over 32 - India 87-3 (Pujara 14, Rahane 1)
Where would England be without Jimmy Anderson?! Just what he and his team needed with Pujara and Kohli beginning to form a dangerous partnership. No-one will be more relived than Matt Prior, who looked in some discomfort after taking that catch. Rahane is the new batsman and he gets off the mark with a single to square-leg
    7/17/2014 1:04:55 PM
[betting] Not much change in the outright betting to win the 2nd Test. England remain popular at 5/6 despite only snaring a couple of wickets in the morning session with India 100/30 and the draw 9/4. Bet in-play
    7/17/2014 1:06:25 PM
  • Over 33 - India 89-3 (Pujara 14, Rahane 2)
Broad is still erring on the short side and as a result failing to pose any serious problems. Driving a 6ft 6in bowler is hard at the best of times, on a green seaming pitch even more so... Two more singles added off his latest over
    7/17/2014 1:09:33 PM
  • Over 34 - India 90-3 (Pujara 15, Rahane 2)
Pujara appears to be relishing this battle but he's struggling to impose himself in terms of scoring runs. He's faced 85 balls for his 15 runs and probably holds the key to how well India fare here in this first-innings. Dhoni is the next man due in...
    7/17/2014 1:13:05 PM
  • The question posed at lunch: Where are the English spinners?

    7/17/2014 1:15:14 PM
  • Anderson celebrates the post-lunch wicket of Kohli

    7/17/2014 1:15:56 PM
  • Over 35 - India 91-3 (Pujara 15, Rahane 2)
Too short again from Broad and just a leg-bye conceded. An awkward moment for Prior final delivery when the ball wobbled on its way through and almost hits him flush in the face! He just gets his glove there in time
    7/17/2014 1:19:06 PM
  • Over 36 - India 95-3 (Pujara 19, Rahane 2)
Stokes replaces Anderson and starts well, despite a Pujara boundary. The one delivery over-pitched is put away in style, steered through backward point for four. The Durham man comes back well though, beating the bat twice
    7/17/2014 1:21:41 PM
  • Over 37 - India 103-3 (Pujara 19, Rahane 10)
Broad adjusts to a fuller length but it comes at a cost. Rahane pushes him through the covers for four and then punches a middle stump half-volley through mid-on for four more to take India past 100. Two confident strokes from Rahane
    7/17/2014 1:25:09 PM
  • Over 38 - India 104-3 (Pujara 20, Rahane 10)
Some impressive speeds coming in from Stokes on the speed gun. He's touching 90mph and certainly rushing the batsmen. Just a Pujara single, worked to square-leg, off his latest over. Pujara and Rahane slowly playing their way in here..
    7/17/2014 1:30:31 PM
  • Over 39 - India 108-3 (Pujara 24, Rahane 10)
Shot! Pujara welcomes Plunkett into the attack with a gorgeous-looking cover drive which races to the fence. Over-pitched from Plunkett and punished accordingly. He looks a class act and, after surviving a tough morning session, ready to cash in with the shine now all-but off the ball
    7/17/2014 1:34:08 PM
  • Over 40 - India 109-3 (Pujara 24, Rahane 11)
Stokes continues to push the batsmen back with his pace but cannot lure either Pujara or Rahane into a mistake when pitching it in their half. Just a Rahane single off the over as the sun still soaks all inside this famous venue
    7/17/2014 1:38:01 PM
  • Over 41 - India 109-3 (Pujara 24, Rahane 11)
A harmless maiden from Plunkett to Rahane, who leaves five of the six deliveries well outside off stump. Time for drinks
    7/17/2014 1:40:25 PM
  • It's hot work out there, says Bumble, as drinks arrive and he's not kidding - HERE COMES THE SUMMER...
    7/17/2014 1:40:56 PM
  • Pujara b Stokes 28

[wicket]Massive wicket for England as Stokes finds a way through Pujara's seemingly impenetrable defence to knock back middle stump. Just nipped back enough to go through the gate.
    7/17/2014 1:46:57 PM
  • WICKET! Stokes takes out Pujara's middle stump for 28! India 113-4. #EngvInd

  • Stokes wheels away in celebration... as seen on the big screen on the Nursery Ground.

    7/17/2014 1:48:58 PM
  • People have asked about my phone conversation with Cook before Trent Bridge. It was a good chat & we spoke about lots of topics, that's it !
  • Over 42 - India 113-4 (Rahane 11, Dhoni 0)
The last ball of a fine over goes past MS Dhoni's outside edge. Stokes good value for that key wicket of Pujara; he's been the one bowler who has consistently looked to bowl a threatening length even if it does mean scoring opportunities for the batsmen.
    7/17/2014 1:49:39 PM
  • All of India's wickets have come from England bowling a good length @HomeOfCricket : #EngvInd

  • Over 43 - India 115-4 (Rahane 13, Dhoni 0)
Rahane gets two for a drive that is misfielded at extra-cover by Broad. This spell from Plunkett is a bit meh.
    7/17/2014 1:54:47 PM
  • Over 44 - India 115-4 (Rahane 13, Dhoni 0)
Excellent spell from Stokes continues with a probing maiden over to Dhoni.
    7/17/2014 1:58:37 PM
  • Over 45 - India 121-4 (Rahane 19, Dhoni 0)
Moeen back on for his second over of the day. Rahane drives him to mid-off and gets two after a Stokes parry before collecting four with a gorgeous punch through cover off the back foot. Fraction short, and Rahane jumped back with a dancer's grace to ping the ball into the gap.
    7/17/2014 2:01:16 PM
  • Today's style award unquestionably goes to Sabina for this chic number.

    7/17/2014 2:03:00 PM
  • Over 46 - India 122-4 (Rahane 19, Dhoni 1)
Broad replaces the excellent Stokes. Immediately gives Broad the charge and misses an attempted drive at an outswinger. Curious decision. The next ball thuds into the thigh-pad. Broad is convinced it's lbw. The umpire is convinced Dhoni has hit it, awarding runs rather than a leg-bye. Both are wrong.
    7/17/2014 2:06:03 PM
  • Over 47 - India 122-4 (Rahane 19, Dhoni 1)
Dhoni plays out a maiden from Moeen. Which is a touch unexpected.
    7/17/2014 2:08:19 PM
  • Dhoni c Prior b Broad 1

[wicket]Simple dismissal, and the sort of ball England should've been bowling all day. Full, swinging delivery from Broad, and Dhoni nicks it through to Prior.
    7/17/2014 2:11:12 PM
  • WICKET! Brilliant from Broad & the skipper has gone! Outside edge from Dhoni. 123-5. #EngvInd

  • Over 48 - India 123-5 (Rahane 20, Jadeja 0)
Boos for new batsman Jadeja after the Trent Bridge Incident. He plays out the rest of the over without much fuss. Suspect we'll see Anderson having a bowl before long. Meanwhile, Broad has 250 Test wickets.
    7/17/2014 2:14:40 PM
  • 13 - Stuart Broad is the 13th player and second for England after Ian Botham to take 250 wickets and score 2,000 runs in Tests. Value.
  • Over 49 - India 123-5 (Rahane 20, Jadeja 0)
No Anderson yet for Jadeja. Moeen continues with another maiden. India remain one, two, three, fo(ur), five. Which is always satisfying.
    7/17/2014 2:17:23 PM
  • Over 50 - India 127-5 (Rahane 20, Jadeja 3)
Huge leg-before appeal against Jadeja as Broad nips one back at the left-hander. Looked desperately close, but a fine decision from Bruce Oxenford with Hawk-Eye showing the ball going just over the off bail. Jadeja then gets off strike and off the mark with a clip off his pads for three.
    7/17/2014 2:21:16 PM
  • Jadeja lbw b Moeen 3

[wicket]Cook's decision to stick with Moeen pays off as Jadeja prods forward at one that doesn't turn and is plumb lbw as the ball thuds into his pad in front of middle and off.
    7/17/2014 2:25:10 PM
  • WICKET! Moeen strikes with one that goes straight on and traps Jadeja LBW. 128-6. #EngvInd
