SKY BET ODDS[betting]Who do we all fancy for the Man of the Match award for the 2nd Test then? Sky Bet make James Anderson the most likely candidate, but there's a string of 12/1 options should the Lancashire bowler fail to deliver. Bet here with Sky Bet.6/20/2014 9:05:23 AM

BOWLING DAY?
It certainly feels like one at Headingley and Beefy is adamant Alastair Cook has made the right decision, despite Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews insisting he would have batted. The pitch is a good one though and Nasser says England can't get carried away with any pace and bounce, they must stick to the top of off stump and KEEP THE SLIPS IN!6/20/2014 9:46:26 AM -
PITCH REPORT
"Lord's was a bit flat - it was turgid cricket," says Nasser, out in the middle. So what about this surface in Leeds? "It is all about technique this week, about hitting the top of off stump."
This is definitely a harder pitch and there are some cracks already appearing. Expect it to perhaps help spinners later on, but first up it is all about the seamers making inroads. Often at Headingley you're told to look up, rather than down.6/20/2014 9:48:06 AM -
Proud moment: Ian Bell presented with a silver cap for reaching 100 not out!

Mikey praises Plunkett after his five-wicket haul: [michaelholding]
Liam Plunkett has bowled very well today. I wasn’t that impressed with him at Lord’s but his captain asked him to bowl differently there. He’ shown today that he can bowl a good length and produced a fantastic bowling performance in front of his new home crowd.

[end-of-innings] SRI LANKA 257 ALL OUTSo England get rid of the Sri Lankans on the first day - they'll look for a calm passage to stumps before kicking on tomorrow.6/20/2014 4:26:33 PM

Over 1 – England 0/0 (Cook 0 Robson 0)Nuwan Pradeep kicks off with a maiden over with a decent amount of width enabling Cook to leave the ball quite comfortably.6/20/2014 4:30:24 PM
-
Over 2 – England 2/0 (Cook 1 Robson 1)Shaminda Eranga has a bowl at Sam Robson – big innings for him after Lord’s failures. He gets just a single.6/20/2014 4:33:42 PM

Over 3 – England 6/0 (Cook 5 Robson 1)[4]Another good over from Pradeep but Cook hits four off the last ball.6/20/2014 4:37:53 PM

[mikeatherton] Instinct says he probably got his fingers under the ball but replays suggest perhaps he didn't. It was very similar to Prior's catch at Lord's.Athers on the Sangakkara 'catch'6/20/2014 4:42:44 PM

Over 4 – England 9/0 (Cook 6 Robson 2)Cook edges to slip, or does he!? It looks like it’s taken but the fielder wasn’t sure and to be fair to him told the umpire to go upstairs, when it was proved that the all did bounce into his hands – narrow escape.6/20/2014 4:44:52 PM

DID IT CARRY?NOT OUT! Cook edges to slip but the third umpire signals that the ball didn't carry. http://t.co/LeU0ujFmv9 #EngvSL http://t.co/yZw8OydUVgJun. 20, 2014

Over 6 – England 14/0 (Cook 7 Robson 6)A maiden from Eranga – Cook not really interested in having a flash at anything wide and happy to leave the ball as often as possible.6/20/2014 4:53:47 PM
