Fight Night Live!

  • CONTROVERSY!
There is talk between Johnny Nelson and Jamie Moore are suggesting the doctors made the decision. That is the talk at ringside but they are suggesting Diaz did not want to continue...
    9/13/2014 8:43:55 PM
  • JAMIE MOORE'S VERDICT
I really think Crolla started to get to him in the third. The tide was slowly turning so the cut was the perfect way to get out of there with the draw.

    9/13/2014 8:45:29 PM
  • Moore's is not sure the ref called that a draw...

    9/13/2014 8:48:29 PM
  • AJ IS ARRIVING
Next up is the most exciting big man in British boxing, Anthony Joshua. The Olympic gold medallist is targeting an eighth straight stoppage win against Konstantin Airich.
    9/13/2014 8:49:45 PM
  • MANCUNIAN DEBUT!
The heavyweight hope is making his first pro show here! The discussion about Crolla's draw is soon drowned out by Joshua's arrival. People want to see this guy close up... and the cheers welcome him
    9/13/2014 8:51:38 PM
  • THE OPPONENT
Konstantin Airich has certainly been around the block and put up some good performances but he has also lost and lost badly! Manuel Charr took just 46 seconds to do that!
    9/13/2014 8:53:41 PM
  • READY TO RUMBLE
Joshua looked focused before the opening round.

    .
    9/13/2014 8:55:16 PM
  • [round-1]
Bang! AJ starts with the jab and that rips through that defence straight away. A right suggests he can pick and choose already but that jab is what he wants to work on. It sends Airich's head back twice, thrice back and although he responds with a nice bodyshot, he is hit again with that jab. Then a left and a sharp, shocking right shows AJ can probably do what he wants! And he might well want some rounds...
    9/13/2014 8:56:27 PM
  • [ouch]
Boom! A weak right fooled Airich from the go and than a cracking left hook just came from nowhere and hurt. Again the jab comes in and next that goes to the stomach and then straight through his guard! This is painful for him!
    9/13/2014 8:58:54 PM
  • [round-2]
Give him credit, the former Prizefighter guy is taking pain but he is keeping his chin tucked away nicely and dare I say it he is not that easy to destroy. A gumshield issue gives him a break and AJ has a quiet end to the round. But he is calm and collected. He looks like he wants to put on a show
    9/13/2014 9:00:52 PM
  • [ouch]
Joshua comes charging out and a vicious right and then a combination on the ropes put Airich in the corner. He held on but Joshua landed a nasty late, late blow, when he was eventually down.
    9/13/2014 9:02:38 PM
  • [referee]
The referee rightly gave AJ a telling off and that is something he will need to learn the higher he goes. That right again, then the left than three body shots ending with that one that floored Airich...
    9/13/2014 9:04:22 PM
  • [tko]
Then it is finally all over! Joshua comes charging back and pressures him back to the ropes and forgetting the sharp jab, those big, big shots are back. it is a left to the temple that really spells disaster for Airich and then two more, one from the other side and again, the referee steps in. This time for the right reason!
    9/13/2014 9:06:05 PM
  • IT'S A RECORD
Joshua has gone to 8-0 and yes, in case you didn't know, that was the first time he had been taken beyond two round! History in the making fight fans!
    9/13/2014 9:07:26 PM
  • Just taking my time with things, picking shots, no rush. He stood up, took some good shots, but it's only a matter of time if you get caught with good shots. Did I? I didn't think I hit him when he was down?
Anthony Joshua was satisfied with the win, but did not think he was guilty of late punches.

  • JAMIE MOORE'S VERDICT
He has shown us that he has to go fast, he has to develop quickly. Otherwise he'll start making mistakes defensively and he will start lapsing - and he doesn't want to do that. He needs to step up quickly

    9/13/2014 9:17:15 PM
  • PAUL SMITH'S VERDICT
It sounds ridiculous but even thought he won an Olympic gold medal winner, he didn't have a long, extensive amateur career and started late. So these learning fights will stand him in good stead.

    9/13/2014 9:19:03 PM
  • QUIGG'S CRUNCH TIME
Crucial fight for Scott Quigg if he wants to land a future fight with Carl Frampton. Here comes opponent Stephane Jamoye, a tough Belgian, who pushed Jamie McDonnell all the way in a points defeat.
    9/13/2014 9:19:18 PM
  • ROCK N ROLLA
Quigg enters to Oasis anthem 'Rock N Roll Star'. He will be hoping for another big hit tonight...sorry, couldn't resist.
    9/13/2014 9:20:44 PM
  • The tale of the tape... physically there isn't much to choose between the two!

    9/13/2014 9:22:49 PM
  • NATIONAL ANTHEMS
The Belgian one is respected, the Great Britain one is boomed out from the Manchester Arena. Now the star of the show is about to shine. And is Carl Frampton watching?

  • HERE COME THE GIRLS [twitter]

    9/13/2014 9:26:05 PM
  • THE CHALLENGER[boxing]
Stephane Jamoye is a former world champion challanger and with a record of
26-5 (KO16) this could well be a tough nut for Quigg to crack. The champion of course has 28-0-2 (KO21) and is the favourite...
    9/13/2014 9:28:02 PM
  • [round-1]
Quigg starts on top, pushing Jamoye back when he can and going low for starters. The left is straight into play, one to the ribs and then to the head but it is the bodyshot that is already making its mark. Quigg takes that left up, then down again as the challenger is already on the back foot. Range is not a problem, angles are good and that is a great opening round. Quigg looks like he means business, make no mistake of that.
    9/13/2014 9:31:05 PM
  • IN-PLAY ODDS
[betting]Some fierce body shots coming in from Quigg. Could we be in for an early stoppage here? Quigg is currently 8/1 to win in round three and 9/1 to win in round four. Round two is underway. Bet in-play with Sky Bet here.
    9/13/2014 9:31:27 PM
  • [round-2]
Jamoye starts well, pinging a couple of jabs and then comes forward with the left of his own. Quigg takes a step back but the Belgian has come out all guns blazing and he seems to be going for broke! He looks fairly useful but Quigg keeps his calm and on the umpteenth time Jamoye comes charging in, the champion simply flicks him away and he stumbles, off-balance. Quigg then lands the left and the right then comes out - this going straight to the head. The champion finishes the round by brushing Jamoye away again, rounding it all off with a smashing jab, straight down the barrel...
    9/13/2014 9:35:16 PM
  • [round-3]
A left to the ribs then a left-right combo upstairs are slick. Jamoye keeps pinging back the single shots but the champion is loving this. A left body shot leads the way, a smart combo...
    9/13/2014 9:37:39 PM
  • [ouch]
A right hook does the worst damage of them all so far and Jamoye is down - and not surprisingly. That was genuinely impressive!
    9/13/2014 9:38:20 PM
  • IT'S OVER [tko]
Jamoye is floored by that right to the body and there is no way he was going to fight on. He might have beaten the count but no way does he want to suffer more of that. What a finish!
    9/13/2014 9:39:53 PM
  • QUIGG FIRES!
The WBA world champion reigns supreme and reminded the rest of the division and indeed the world, that he is at that elite level and now, thoroughly comfortable. They said he had to show Frampton how good he is and he did that with aplomb. Sharp, incisive and that nastiness were there for all to see... even Frampton!

  • FRAMPTON NEXT?
The fans out there want to see it and now Eddie Hearn says he wants to see it happen next. He says he and Barry McGuigan do not matter... Scott and Carl do. And Quigg rounds off by saying of course he wants it.
    9/13/2014 9:49:38 PM
  • Yes I was happy with that. Went in and systematically broke him down in three rounds. No-one has done that. If he wants to sit down in a room, Carl, Barry, me, Ed, that fight can be made. There is also Leo Santa Cruz, who fights tonight, he is another fight I want.

Scott Quigg sets his sight on rivals Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz.
    9/13/2014 9:52:05 PM
  • PAUL SMITH'S VERDICT
The one thing people don't know about Quigg is how he fit he is, the natural engine on him. His attitude is 'I know I am not going to get any fitter to go 12 rounds, so I will work on the technical aspect of my game'. And we saw that with those bodyshots there...

Boxing fans believe the Jackal will have his hand raised if he faces Quigg, even after tonight's demolition of Jamoye.

    9/13/2014 9:58:42 PM
  • JAMIE MOORE'S VERDICT
They need to sit down in a room. Even if they take four
hours, thrash it out, even play tennis – just thrash it out and whoever gets an
    ace, gets it.
They have both sat there and said let's do it and they've left
their cards on the table, so they can't walk away.

  • BOMBS AWAY

  • WHAT NEXT?
Well there is the small matter of Money v Maidana II at the MGM Grand later but that also brings  Leo Santa Cruz, the WBC boss back into the equation, or does he? Manuel Roman not going to prise that belt away but Quigg has already tried to get a go... before Frampton shot to the forefront. The super-bantamweigth division is suddenly grabbing everyone's attention...
