Fight Night Live - boxing from Echo Arena, Liverpool

  • [round-1] Smith v Biosse
Good first round for Smith in his first fight versus a southpaw, and they don't come any more awkward than Biosse. He's creating all kinds of strange angles,  is spoiling well and holding up close, looks like a good test for young Smith.
    7/12/2014 8:31:45 PM
  • [round-2] Smith v Biosse
Great work from Smith, showed great strength to move his move onto the ropes, that's another tick in his favour. We also see Smith taking a few shots for the first time in his career, as Biosse has still got some ammo left, but he was largely out fought in that round.
    7/12/2014 8:35:41 PM
  • [round-3] Smith v Biosse
Cracking fight now. Smtih catches his match with an uppercut that shakes him to his boots, but this Biosse can certainly take a punch! He's backed up in the corner seemingly on his way out, but comes back with some big left hands in response. Smith's not used to seeing an opponent soak up his bombs and stay on his feet.
    7/12/2014 8:39:17 PM
  • [round-4] Smith v Biosse
Biosse just soaks up all the punishment again. Tony Bellew has sparred with him and described him as 'seriously tough' and that's a more than accurate description so far in this fight.
    7/12/2014 8:43:30 PM
  • [round-5] Smith v Biosse
Biosse just keeps on coming, and he also finds some attack and catches Smith with a left hand that clearly shakes Smith for a bit and Biosse turns up the pressure sensing it. We'll find out a great deal more about Callum Smith in the next few rounds...
    7/12/2014 8:47:29 PM
  • [round-6] Smith v Biosse
Fast start to the round again by Biosse, and it's a quieter round from Smith, who may just have been stung in the last round - he still looks on top but was wise to keep Biosse at arm's length for three minutes.

  • [round-7] Smith v Biosse
Smith winning this by a mile, looks like he's not going all-in on the stoppage right now, and see his way through without any undue upsets against a dangerous opponent.
    7/12/2014 8:55:34 PM
  • [round-8] Smith v Biosse
Very professional stuff from Smith, he's still hurting Biosse at times but he's not rushing in there.
    7/12/2014 9:00:42 PM
  • [round-9] Smith v Biosse
Biosse walks onto a big right uppercut from Smith, but again he takes it and carries on grabbing and spoiling - he's got some chin but he is showing signs of slowing down now.
    7/12/2014 9:02:46 PM
  • [round-10] Smith v Biosse
Great fight! Biosse takes another whopping uppercut just before the final bell, but he sees it out. What a test for Smith, he's come through it very well, dealing with an awkward opponent with a granite chin.
    7/12/2014 9:08:42 PM
  • SMITH WINS!
Wide margin points win for Smith, after a terrific all round performance, showed great maturity and strength as he was still punching hard in the 10th. He also took a few good shots as well.

  • Callum Smith...
I've been wanting that for a long time, I needed rounds and I think it was a good patient performance. He was a clever opponent but I always knew that I had the upper hand.

  • Trainer Joe Gallagher's not interested in his man fighting Rocky Fielding next...

We're well ranked in the world rankings and we're looking towards a world title sooner rather than later. I believe we're ahead of Rocky right now and there's not enough money on the table or any belts to fight for to make it of interest right now.

  • [round-1] Cleverly v Valori
Hard to sum that round up from Valori, who was wielding haymakers from the first bell, looked wild and ragged, but also caught Cleverly with a few solid shots. No problems for the Welshman though. Hard to think this Argentine has fought at heavyweight when weighing over 18 stone!
    7/12/2014 9:32:35 PM
  • [dazed] Valori down!
He takes a fierce body shot and Valori takes a knee, and an eight count...
    7/12/2014 9:34:51 PM
  • [round-2] Cleverly v Valori
Valori paying the price for all those wild swings, and not being in the best of shape, with a hurtful left to the body putting him down on a knee for eight - not sure this will go another round.
    7/12/2014 9:37:12 PM
  • [round-3] Cleverly v Valori
Valori chinned with a vicious left hook, lands square on the jaw but they breed them tough in Argentina and despite blowing heavily he survives another round.

  • [stats] POLL

    7/12/2014 9:42:00 PM
  • [tko] ALL OVER
It was only a matter of time, and Valori finally cracks under the sheer weight and force of the body shots from Cleverly. This one sits him down on the bottom rope and he's nodding in agreement as the ref waves this one off.
    7/12/2014 9:43:36 PM
  • Nathan Cleverly
I'm happy enough, I said all week he'd come in swinging hooks trying to catch me so I just brought my chin down and gloves up and break him down, which is what I did. I just started softening him up with the body shots and stepping in with heavier shots and it was only a matter of time before I got the stoppage.

    And a word for Bellew...

Please Tony, win your next fight, produce the goods, because I'm coming for you!

  • Biggest test to date for Anthony Joshua as he faces the wily old Bedford Bear - Matt Skelton. The veteran knows how to spoil and disrupt so he knows what he's doing in there..
    7/12/2014 9:57:46 PM
  • [round-1] Joshua v Skelton
Skelton comes rushing in trying to grab and bully Joshua, but the young man shows he's no pushover as he pushes the veteran almost over the top rope. After that it settles down with Joshua picking his shots, and catches Skelton with a big shot near the end of the round.

    7/12/2014 10:03:08 PM
  • [on-the-floor] Skelton down!
Clubbing right hand to the temple puts Skelton on the floor, he gets back to his feet for nine and the ref allows him to continue, looks out on his feet though.

    7/12/2014 10:05:29 PM
  • [tko] TKO!
Fearsome finish again from Joshua, seven out of seven and all inside two rounds! After the knockdown Joshua takes his time and picks out a left hand this time and as Skelton falls against the ropes the ref steps in to call it off.
    7/12/2014 10:07:49 PM
  • King of the world?
    Eddie Hearn thinks so...
I'm just so excited because you're seeing the evolution of the future world heavyweight champion, I've got no doubt about that whatsoever. Anthony Joshua is a humble lad, he's 100 percent dedicated to the sport, he's a great role model for kids and he's going all the way believe me.

  • Here comes Bellew, a win and surely Cleverly is next and the rematch is on!
    7/12/2014 10:26:49 PM
  • [round-1] Bellew v Dos Santos
Bellew underway - doing the more work in the opening round, but Dos Santos takes his best efforts pretty well, also shows enough to suggest he could be dangerous.
    7/12/2014 10:30:29 PM
  • [round-2] Bellew v Dos Santos
Patient stuff from Bellew, and he lands with the most meaningful efforts of the second round. Dos Santos showing enough though to be respected.
    7/12/2014 10:35:03 PM
  • [round-3] Bellew v Dos Santos
Some warning signs for The Bomber, who is on the wrong end of a few bombs himself, namely a couple of solid right hooks that stopped Bellew in his tracks. Bellew replied with a nice left hook from range late on though.
    7/12/2014 10:38:29 PM
  • [round-4] Bellew v Dos Santos
Bellew largely on the front foot, but the pick of the shots come from Dos Santos, as Bellew gets tagged again with the right hand, he's in for more earache in the corner..
    7/12/2014 10:41:58 PM
  • [ko] STOPPAGE!
Dos Santos stopped after a heavy knockdown from a left hook from The Bomber - he's been saying he's got more power not up at cruiserweight and boy did it show with that beauty of a shot.
    7/12/2014 10:45:45 PM
  • COLLISION COURSE!
Bellew goes right over to ringside where Cleverly has been watching and the two exchange some angry words as they already begin the build-up to their eagerly awaited rematch. Even with nobody watching these two would get it on.
    7/12/2014 10:46:56 PM
  • [betting]Wow, what did you make of Bellew's power? Sky Bet are already taking bets on the potential rematch between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew, making the Welshman the 1/2 favourite, while the Liverpudlian is the 6/4. A draw is available at 25/1, and all bets will be refunded should the pair fail to fight before 2014 is out.
    7/12/2014 10:47:02 PM
  • REMATCH!
Wow, the rematch is on! Eddie Hearn, when he could get a word in, said it would happen later this year, in Liverpool, Manchester or London as possible venues. The two exchanged more angry words at ringside, it almost all kicked off right there and then!

  • What an explosive ending to the night in Liverpool - we can only imagine what the build-up, press conferences and weigh-in is going to be like for Bellew v Cleverly II....
