    5/31/2014 9:03:07 PM
[jim-watt]As Jim Watt points out, there are so many questions going into this fight. We are about to find out all the answers.
What is Carl Froch's motivation tonight? Does he want to put George Groves finally in his place? Does the huge purse have something to do with it? For Carl Froch to win tonight he’s got to drag everything out that he’s got left. How many more times can Carl Froch ask his 37-year-old body to produce the goods?

    5/31/2014 9:03:15 PM
  • And now the champion is in

    5/31/2014 9:03:51 PM
As Michael Buffer introduces the fighters, Froch is clearly turning his back on Groves. He hasn't looked at him once since he entered the ring.
    5/31/2014 9:04:38 PM
Buffer calls out his famous words - and is joined by 80,000 fight fans!
    5/31/2014 9:04:53 PM
  • ROAR!
The crowd are going wild. Both fighters received huge receptions. Both have plenty of fans in attendance!
    5/31/2014 9:06:37 PM
  • FROCH v GROVES - ROUND ONE [round-1]
And we're off! Both fighters meet in the middle, tentative. No one wants to make a mistake. No punch thrown in first 30 seconds until Groves lands a jab. And another. The fighters collide in the centre of the ring and grapple. Twice the ref steps in to separate them. Froch has taken the centre of the ring . Only jabs exchanged so far. Froch lands one right just before the bell. Well - safe to say that was a better first round from the Cobra than last time!!
    5/31/2014 9:10:21 PM
  • In Rnd 1 the jab led the way... from both men

    5/31/2014 9:12:00 PM
[paulie-malignaggi]Paulie Malignaggi thinks the small ring at Wembley Stadium is going to favour Froch as the fight wears on.
I'm going to reiterate the point that David Haye made earlier about the small ring. Groves was trying to use the ring at the end of the round and Froch was walking him down and the round ended with Groves up against the ropes.

    5/31/2014 9:12:50 PM
  • FROCH V GROVES - ROUND TWO [round-2]
Jim Watt said before the fight Froch had to work behind his jab and he's doing just that. Keeping Groves at bay with his longer reach. This is a far more composed Carl Froch than what we;ve been used too. BUT HERE WE GO! Froch steps in and tries to land a right, the fighters grapple and Froch forces Groves to the floor. Groves throws a comment and a smile Froch's way. Groves throws a wild right but Froch responds with a flurry and the crowd roar with excitement.

  • FROCH V GROVES - ROUND THREE - [round-3]
The crowd make themselves heard as there's a lull in the third but seconds later they're cheering as both fighters unleash, exchanging hooks. A good body shot with the right from Froch followed by a left. He's warming to this! Froch gets caught with a left on the way in but continues to take the fight to Groves. This is a small ring and Froch is hunting his man down. Groves lands a stiff jab though before unloading a right.
    5/31/2014 9:18:08 PM
  • In the 3rd Rnd they finally exchanged big blows

    5/31/2014 9:19:12 PM
Slow motion replays from the previous round showing the raw passion from both men as they both crash  blows into eachother. Going into the fourth Jamie Moore has Carl two rounds to one up.  Carl comes forward but a right from Groves catches him and a follow up left stops Froch in his tracks. The champ backs off. He's soon back in his stride though, standing in the centre of the ring, trying to find his range with a jab. But Groves snaps forward with a right. Bang a stiff right from Groves catches Froch flush. Froch stands there and then launches and attack of his own. Froch gets his man on the ropes but Groves makes him miss. Froch unloads a couple of body shots in the final seconds.
    5/31/2014 9:22:09 PM
  • 5/31/2014 9:22:43 PM
[jim-watt] Jim Watt believes Froch is just holding the edge in the early stages, in complete contrast to their November clash.
It's a different Carl Froch but also a different George Groves. This is not the same powerhouse that came into the ring last time.

    5/31/2014 9:22:45 PM
  • Groves still stalks Froch in the 4th Rnd

    5/31/2014 9:23:50 PM
Spencer Oliver has got it two rounds a piece going into the fifth. How are you scoring it? Froch bangs his gloves together. Two jabs from Froch fall well short, he backs Groves into the corner but the local lad slips away and then steps forward with a one-two combo. Froch catches him with a right though and unloads six hooks to the body. Groves manages to squeeze away. This fight is living up to its billing! An over hand right from Groves in the centre of the ring is followed by another. Froch again goes to work on the body and the pair stand square on trading! The crowd go wild. Froch lands a left on the bell and the Nottingham man will be pleased with that round.
    5/31/2014 9:26:22 PM
  • Froch had his - and the - best round so far in the 5th

    5/31/2014 9:27:02 PM
Amir Khan is at ringside and has Groves up heading into the sixth round.
George Groves is in control, the reason he's in control he's using that jab, he's using that range, he's got good footwork. The only time George Groves gets caught is when he stands there with his hands up, that's the only time Carl can get some shots in.

    5/31/2014 9:29:43 PM
  • FROCH V GROVES - ROUND SIX [round-6]
Again Froch bangs his gloves together. The Cobra is enjoying this battle. Groves tries a right but is caught off balance and Froch steps forward, firing left then right to send Groves onto the ropes. The challenger eventually gets away. Froch is feeling for Groves with his jab, trying to keep the younger man where he wants him. But Groves is landing several jabs of his own. Again the crowd jeer as there's a brief lull - but again the fighters respond! Froch landing a right and going after his man. Froch then has Groves on the ropes again, but Groves makes him miss and holds on. Again Froch has an opportunity to unload on his man on the ropes. And that's another round for Froch, according to Spencer Oliver beside us.
    5/31/2014 9:30:23 PM
  • A cagey 6th Rnd, but that can't last... surely

    5/31/2014 9:32:18 PM
  • 5/31/2014 9:34:38 PM
Both Jamie Moore and Spencer Oliver have Froch four rounds to two up. BUT FROCH IS STAGGERED! Groves landed a powerful left flush on the Nottingham man's chin and Froch visibly puffed out in pain and shock. Groves hasn't seized the opportunity though and Froch has recovered and backs Groves onto the ropes before launching a big right over the challenger's head. Another shuddering exchange in the centre of the ring, seemingly won by Groves. But Froch isn't known as a warrior for nothing and is soon back on the front foot and lands a HUGE right on Groves. Groves falls back onto the ropes and Froch fires at him. The referee steps in to separate them. Both men landed - and took - massive blows in that round! This is just what we were hoping for!
    5/31/2014 9:34:38 PM
  • Froch in the mood in the 7th Rnd

    5/31/2014 9:35:57 PM
Two jabs from Groves hit their mark before Groves connects with a right. Both man firing back any time the other lands. Froch again adopts his position in the centre of the ring, using his jab to keep Groves at bay. The crowd are baying for more war. Froch lands with a left as he charges Groves into the ropes. But Groves connects with a short right. Froch unleashes a volley of body shots but gets caught with a lef thook on the way in. GROVES KNOCKED DOWN! FIGHT STOPPED!!

    5/31/2014 9:37:54 PM
Unbelievable right hand from Froch puts Groves flat on his back on the canvas. One look from the ref and he calls it off! Froch is held aloft. Groves tries to protest but he's badly hurt.
    5/31/2014 9:39:09 PM
That was a huge hit from Froch. Groves is sitting on his stool but getting oxygen.
    5/31/2014 9:39:53 PM
Groves rises from his stool to a huge ovation and congratulates Froch in the centre of the ring.
    5/31/2014 9:40:53 PM
  • Froch is celebrating a stunning KO win

    5/31/2014 9:41:58 PM
Froch had thrown a left, which Groves blocked. But the right that followed landed flush on his chin. Groves collapsed to the floor, with his left leg trapped under him. Seeing the ref wave off the fight he tried to protest, but was clearly in no state to continue.
    5/31/2014 9:42:22 PM
The beaten challenger salutes the crowd and gets a huge cheer.
    5/31/2014 9:43:53 PM
[paulie-malignanggi]Paulie Malignaggi observes how Froch brought Groves' guard down with a short left hook before landing a peach of a straight right.

The hook is a throwaway punch, it’s not meant to land, it’s meant to draw attention away from the right hand which is about to land.

    5/31/2014 9:44:19 PM
  • AND STILL....
Carl Froch holds aloft one of his world title belts, kisses his glove but makes a point of applauding Groves.
