  • [judges]TO THE JUDGES
    Here they... 96-96... 96-94... 96-94...a unanimous decision...

  • [judges]TO THE JUDGES
And Tyler Goodjohn is the new... English light-weight champion! What a fight and what a win and no-one can argue, surely?
    10/11/2014 8:53:46 PM
  • Goodjohn gets the decision!

    10/11/2014 8:54:42 PM
I'm absolutely over the moon. This is four years of hard work. There've been some real up and downs. I did it for my family, for Peter Sims who stuck by me through some hard times. Ricky's a strong kid so I didn't want to just stand there and take one from him.

    10/11/2014 8:55:45 PM
It was nothing to do with training camp. When Tyler was moving I couldn't get my shots off. I didn't do as well as I should have but all respect to Tyler - he's English champion and the best of luck to him in the future. I knew it was close. I was flying fitness-wise.

    10/11/2014 8:56:13 PM
  • David Price and Glenn McCrory are at ringside

    10/11/2014 8:59:05 PM
Tyle Goodjohn surprised Ricky Boylan with that back-foot boxing and that's what won him the fight. No-one would've expected that and he proved he can do that as well as he can go forward. He changed tactics and that won him the fight as well.

    10/11/2014 8:59:58 PM
  • [boxing]SELBY'S ON NOW
There is barely time for a cuppa! Lee Selby's IBF eliminator showdown with Joel Brunker and a win will get him a shot at the all-important world title... and he comes into the ring with Big L rapping away. Will Selby be as slick and as sharp? We'll find out!
    10/11/2014 9:07:46 PM
  • [round-1]ROUND ONE
Brunker sets out by walking his man down and Selby's eyes are wide as he attempts to find out what's in store. It's not long before the Welshman starts stringing together combinations though and although he's on the back foot, he dictates the exchanges and comfortably puts the first round in the bank. The early indications are this is going to be a straight face-off between the skills of Selby and the determination of Brunker. It's important to stress they are only very early indications, though...
    10/11/2014 9:13:26 PM
  • [round-2]ROUND TWO
The fact there seems to be a clear gulf in class here could prove to be Selby's main problem. When he picks his spot correctly and puts punches together, he really does look like a world-beater. Brunker's walk-forward style is probably tailor-made for him to look good but it seems that the only person who can beat Selby tonight is Selby himself. It's another round firmly to Selby and you get the sense Brunker will have to come up with something pretty special as a Plan B otherwise he'll fail to win a round.
    10/11/2014 9:18:10 PM
  • [jim-watt]SMART SECOND, SAYS JIM:
This is fine so far from Selby.  Selby is looking classy, the movement, the puchers and the accuracy of the punches. It's another round in the bank.

    10/11/2014 9:18:49 PM
  • Selby starts well...

    10/11/2014 9:21:49 PM
  • [round-3]ROUND THREE
After a lambasting from his corner in the interval, Brunker surges forward with increased purpose and is clearly trying to draw Selby into some riskier exchanges. Just as Brunker has his first moment of success - a glancing left hook, Selby shakes him with a crisp left hand that has the Australian wobbling momentarily. An equally stinging right connects with Brunker's jaw soon after and the underdog can't help but be discouraged. The first two rounds suggested Selby was content to cruise to a decision tonight but once Brunker raised the stakes, there were signs of this one being stopped early.
    10/11/2014 9:22:29 PM
  • IN-FIGHT ODDS[betting]
Reckon you can call this? There's big odds available if you can predict the right round.
    10/11/2014 9:23:20 PM
  • [round-4]ROUND FOUR
Brunker is all hustle and bustle as he looks to worry Selby into showing chinks in his defence or forgetting to stay in motion. It doesn't work particularly well and every time the underdog tries to move within range he is tagged by Selby's neatly-timed counters before finding there's nothing left in front of him to throw back at. It's a bit of a masterclass from Selby so far and you can sense this crowd would like to see him make a statement by putting his man away.
    10/11/2014 9:26:16 PM
  • [jim-watt] WATT NEXT, SELBY?
I wonder if Selby will decisde sooner rather than later that he starts taking it to him. He is so comfortably with this - and it is a final eliminator, as well.

    10/11/2014 9:27:24 PM

  • 10/11/2014 9:28:58 PM
  • [round-5]ROUND FIVE
Brunker is looking increasingly dispirited as Selby shows the best form of defence is attack with some sharp jabs and one-twos. Brunker's face is showing signs of wear and tear and although the Australian can clearly take a punch, some of these right crosses from Selby are genuine world class. While it's tempting to begin to wonder exactly what level Brunker has been boxing at, an unbeaten 27-fight record is an unbeaten 27-fight record and Selby is making him look way out of his depth.
    10/11/2014 9:30:22 PM
  • [round-6]ROUND SIX
It's just simply a mis-match. Selby is taller, has a bigger reach, quicker and most crucially, a more natural boxer. You have to tip your hat to Brunker, who shows no signs of giving up and continues to trudge forward and throw his shots, but at times it seems all too easy for Selby. Brunker did not stop at all during that round - walking down and walking down - but the tactic yielded no success and one jolting Selby uppercut was the highlight of another one-sided round.
    10/11/2014 9:34:09 PM
  • [round-7]ROUND SEVEN
Brunker is full of heart and clearly determined to at least go the distance and it's in situations like this, where he's dominating his man and has the fight at his mercy, where Selby draws criticism for failing to stop opponents. It might be Brunker's best round so far - although his mouthpiece fell out at one stage - and there's a small mark underneath Selby's right eye, but it's probably another round to the Welshman.
    10/11/2014 9:38:30 PM
He's not looking as composed in the other rounds and is that a sign of the pressure? It is starting to bug him, at least. Brunker is getting closer and starting to land some punches. Not enough though...

    10/11/2014 9:39:24 PM
  • [round-8]ROUND EIGHT
Selby has lost a fraction of the slickness that impressed during the early rounds and Brunker's corner are urging their man on when he gets in close with shouts of 'head body head.' The crowd are quite flat compared to the excitement of the Boylan v Goodjohn bout. Selby seems to be throwing everything into some of these shots but apart from a hook early on, Brunker has dealt with everything well in terms of punch resistance. Unfortunately for him, that won't win him rounds and it's another to Selby,
    10/11/2014 9:42:20 PM
  • [round-9]ROUND NINE
As we watch Selby cruise through another three minutes, Jim Watt raising the interesting question of Selby's marketability. While his boxing skills are beyond question, most fans seem to favour watching knockout artists and Selby clearly isn't one of those. It's almost like he enjoys putting on a show of elusiveness... but HANG ON! Just as I'm writing that, Selby crashes a withering left hook to the body and Brunker slumps against the ropes. IT'S OVER!!! Selby unleashes two more flurries and with Brunker almost sitting on the second rope, the referee intervenes. I've had my words stuffed down my throat...
    10/11/2014 9:46:29 PM
That is the sort of fight you want to take towards a world title fight. Perfect, but more than perfect! All that was missing was the drama.

    10/11/2014 9:48:10 PM
  • [ouch]
It was a fantastic body shot that finally broke Brunker's resistance. The Australian tried to carry on and he deserves all credit for his desire, but that was a ruthless finish from Selby and perhaps that can propel him onto the world scene, where his skills surely belong.

    10/11/2014 9:48:26 PM
  • Selby is on his way to a world title tilt

    10/11/2014 9:48:54 PM
There's still a lot more to come. As soon as you see me bring my gym work into the ring, you'll see a true champion. If you come down to the gym and see me spar, you'll be shocked. I've had a bit of criticism so I thought I'd put on a bit of a show tonight. I've been guilty of coasting through my fights because I've been finding it so easy but this was a final eliminator and I had to prove I was ready to fight for a world title. I'm confident going into every fight.

    10/11/2014 9:51:13 PM
[betting]Up next, Sky Bet make Anthony Joshua most likely to beat Dennis Bakhtov in either round two or three, with big odds available for a fourth-round stoppage win for the 1/50 favourite.
    10/11/2014 9:55:00 PM
  • [glenn-mccrory]SELBY HEADED FOR TOP, SAYS GLENN:
When do you see a final eliminator where somebody wins a fight so convincingly with such ease. We've often thought there's a lot more in there and that he's teased us along but judging a performance like that, he belongs up there and needs to be in there with the top fighters. He's proven there's an immense talent that we haven't even seen the best of.Brunker is full of heart and clearly determined to at least go the distance and it's in situations like this, where he's dominating his man and has the fight at his mercy, where Selby draws criticism for failing to stop opponents. It might be Brunker's best round so far - although his mouthpiece fell out at one stage - and there's a small mark underneath Selby's right eye, but it's probably another round to the Welshman. I was flying fitness-wise.

    10/11/2014 10:04:14 PM
  • [boxing] WE'RE OFF!
Joshua looks like a giant! And that is before a bell has sounded. Follow it right here fight fans!
    10/11/2014 10:05:34 PM
  • [round-1]ROUND ONE
A cautious start and then after a minute or so a massive right rocked Bakhtov back onto the ropes. Then he follows up with six unanswered shots, four of that smart jab then three from that right, the massive right finishig it again. But it is not over and there is no reason to rush, Then there is a slight break but BOOM an AJ right hammers home, through the defence, smack onto the nose and those legs wobble badly. How he is still standong I have no idea!
    10/11/2014 10:08:14 PM
  • [cut-above-eye]DAMAGE!
The left eye took a hammering right and it is cut, swollen, closing, you name it, AJ's right did it!
    10/11/2014 10:09:20 PM
  • [round-2]ROUND TWO
Joshua picks his way in from the off. A left, then a right, another right and yet another right stun Bakhtove and push him back. Then AJ goes for the finish, with a sinister smile on his face too. He slames home those rights, the left just teeing it up and when he gets in the corner, he really does unleash. The ref steps in, as Bakjtove tries to fight by holding. That is no good either. But the ref breaks it up...
    10/11/2014 10:13:02 PM
  • [dazed]IT'S OVER!
Joshua has Bakhtov in the corner again and it is not nice as he swarms him and smashes him up. That right just leads the way! Amazing. And powerful! And he loved it!
    10/11/2014 10:14:07 PM
  • [tko]AJ WINS AGAIN!
That's 9-0, NINE knockouts and another two rounder - against an experience guy who had mixed it with some decent opponents.
    10/11/2014 10:15:38 PM
  • [jim-watt]WATT A PERFORMANCE!
That is the best I have ever seen from him. And I know there is so much more to come.

    10/11/2014 10:16:39 PM
  • Joshua goes for the finish - and gets it!

    10/11/2014 10:17:45 PM
  • [boxing]JOSHUA ENJOYED IT!

I really enjoyed it! We're in phase two now so it's time to step up - and that is where the spitefulness comes from! It only went two rounds and I just wanted to hurt him...

  • [boxing]NINE IS FINE
Bakhtov has not been stopped legitimately in nine years, so Joshua has put down some sort of marker. With his ninth straight KO win...
    10/11/2014 10:25:29 PM
Michael Sprott is next then after that we will be going for another one of these [looking down at his belt] or the British title... although he says it is down to Eddie Hearn.
    10/11/2014 10:28:34 PM
He can be as humble as he likes, this is probably the most special individual and fighter I have seen for a long, long time. He is going to clear the entire heavyweight division and unify it.

    10/11/2014 10:30:04 PM

  • 10/11/2014 10:33:00 PM
I'll give credit where it's due... that was an impressive performance. I can understand Eddie Hearn wants to move him on quickly and he mentioned the fight... we'll have it. On that performance he is ready for it but if I was managing Anthony Joshua, you are talking about putting him in with a 6ft 9in guy and one of the biggest hitters in the world.

    10/11/2014 10:35:55 PM

  • 10/11/2014 10:36:56 PM

  • [boxing]PRICE WAR?
David Price he will knock David Haye out but has told Eddie Hearn to get in touch with the Sauerlands to make it happen! He warns them that it is a big, big gamble because he thinks he will beat him. But he gives credit and says he was "impressed" with the two-round win over Blakhtov...
    10/11/2014 10:39:07 PM
  • Hearn hints at the Price war!

    10/11/2014 10:40:27 PM
Well that is just about that tonight fight fans but there is still plenty of talking to be done! David Price says he wants Joshua - and will beat him. Hearn says Joshua will rule the heavyweight division and AJ himself? He's gone back to the dressing room to train after only fighting for two rounds!
    10/11/2014 10:46:24 PM
  • [added-minutes] TIME'S UP
Well that it is that fight fans. We will be back for Hull in two weeks' time but don't forget Ringside this week, GGG next weekend and of course, the next chapter of Anthony Joshua's rise to the top of the heavyweight world.
