It's a unanimous decision... 116-111, 116-111, 115-112. He is the new  WBO International super-bantamweight champion!

  • Double trouble

    10/25/2014 8:05:55 PM
What a great performance. He stuck to the game-plan obviously there were times when I was getting a bit nervous but it was absolutely fantastic and I'm proud.

He has only had 14 fights but he looks like he has a bit of what twin brother and world champion Jamie has too. He clearly took on an experienced and durable opponent but was able to dominate at times and dodge as well. He now moves to 12-0-2 (KO4). Still unbeaten...

  • [glenn-mccrory] MCCRORY ON MCDONNELL
I thought it was an excellent performance. He came out and he started putting his shots together. He wanted it more and it showed. He showed great character and fitness and got through.

  • The Olympian is next up...

    10/25/2014 8:12:37 PM
Luke Campbell is the biggest favourite of the night with Sky Bet, as he's as short as 1/12 to beat Daniel Eduardo Brizuela. The Argentine is therefore a 13/2 underdog, while a draw is 28/1. Bet here.
    10/25/2014 8:14:40 PM
  • [boxing]SUPER CAMPBELL?
Now this is going to be interesting.
Brizuela shared EIGHT knockdowns with Coyle last time he was in Hull. But what will happen on his return. Campbell is the business so will he out on a show or will he go the distance, the same as Tommy did? Surely not...
    10/25/2014 8:18:45 PM
  • Campbell primed and ready

    10/25/2014 8:23:36 PM
The crowd are louder than before.
Campbell in his crisp, bright white shorts and matching jackey, strolls to ring looking serious. He looks calm but he looks like he knows this is his biggest step so far...
    10/25/2014 8:24:17 PM
The Hull Arena is buzzing as their golden boy in back! The ref calls them together, Brizuela looks so much shorter. We are off!
    10/25/2014 8:25:37 PM
  • [round-1]ROUND ONE
Campbell comes flying out and a cracking jab rocks Brizuela after about 20 seconds. He then combines, the jab, with the left low down and another right ends it in style. He looks menacing. But hang on there is a right in return from Brizuela and that goes straight down the barrel. Campbell takes it and can box about a foot further out! He is ticked off for knocking heads as he stepped but with Brizeula swinging wide at the end of the round, the Hull boy is the boss.

  • [jim-watt] WATT'S VIEW
Campbell was switched on right from the off. Lot of success in the opener.

    10/25/2014 8:29:45 PM
  • [round-2]ROUND TWO
There's only one Luke Campbell they sing. There is indeed but there is more than one punch in his armourty. A little more cautious but Luke controls it again, shunting Brizuela back in the corner with another stinging straight right with left coming in behind it. With precision and power. Brizeula comes back but this time Campbell steps aside and he counters with a three-punch combo. He is quick. Quicker the before!
    10/25/2014 8:32:34 PM
  • [round-3]ROUND THREE
A quieter start and Brizuela actually starts off well. His jab is more of a distraction than damaging but he shunts in and this time his right lands straig and makes him think again. Campbell keeps lurking just out of range and then slips in, lets off that jab-left-right and zips back out. He looks like a coiled spring. But Brizuela is back in it and heads in behind his right-left-right. But right on the bell Campbell catches him with a lovely left from lowdown and then a raising right almost puts him down. Big round and big finish to it

You're impressed with Campbell's start. Brizuela's 'shorts'? Not so much...

    10/25/2014 8:39:32 PM
  • [ouch]CRACKING SHOT!
Campbell comes in on the front foot for this round. That razor like jab just leads him in and soon a straight left and short hook in rapid succession wobble Brizuela. He escapes though.
    10/25/2014 8:40:32 PM
  • [round-4]ROUND FOUR
That lovely combination troubles Brizuela badly but Campbell seems to have maturity beyond his years. He does not dive in to finish the job, just slips back out of range than ping-ping-pow! He is in control.

Terrific solid punches. Terrific performance from Campbell he's taking no chances and nor should he. Pretty much everything he tries is working for him and he shook Brizuela up in that round.

    10/25/2014 8:42:14 PM
It's over! The referee steps in and Campbell has swarmed all over Brizeula

  • [boxing]CAMPBELL'S CLASS
What a finish! That left set it all up and then the right put Brizuela down but even if he made the count he lastes about 15 seconds later.
You need to see what Campbell does because there were left hooks, rights down the middle and a cracking checked-hook with that right. Blistering!
    10/25/2014 8:46:57 PM
That was ominous. We saw Joshua with a nastiness last time out and this time we saw an Olympian shake off the pressure and politeness, well it was very, very familiar. Campbell's speed was blistering. His sharpness was perfect. His finish was precise. Painful if you are Brizuela.

He was a very tough kid. He was last here fighting Tommy Coyle which was fight of the year so I knew I was up against a tough durable kid. he came here to win. He was very tough and experienced so for me to go in there and do that I'm over the moon.

    10/25/2014 8:50:46 PM
Brizuela was complaining when the stoppage but to be honest, it was going to happen following that furious explosion in the fifth. He did well to make the count the first time and he will say he can takes a real beating but keeps going, but to be fair, Campbell simply took him apart.
    10/25/2014 8:51:53 PM
I just believe that Luke Campbell has the potential to be a special, special fighter.
    10/25/2014 8:54:06 PM
I'm a little bit overwhelmed with the crowd and the support I got here tonight. With them I take them in the ring with me and use their force against my opponent and Brizuela got the end of that tonight.

    10/25/2014 8:54:34 PM
  • [boxing]NEXT UP...
It is Tommy Coyle v Michael Katsidis. This is going to be something special!
    10/25/2014 8:59:40 PM
  • COYLE V KATSIDIS[betting]
Tommy Coyle is the favourite with the bookies, but he's not exactly a huge favourite here. He's 8/15 to be precise, which makes Michael Katsidis a 6/4 chance. Alternatively, a draw is 25/1. Bet on Fight Night here.
    10/25/2014 9:01:37 PM
Michael Katsidis walks to the ring, not getting the warmest welcome, thanks largely to his hunters headgear. The warrior hat has followed him around and reminds us all just how good he has been.
    10/25/2014 9:04:16 PM
Let me hear you say... ay-oh! Tommy Coyle marches to the ring and he is usual lively self. Jamie Moore is of course alongside him, back in the game after the shooting in the summer. It looks like it could be an almighty return to the corner.
    10/25/2014 9:06:49 PM
  • [ko]CLASSIC!
Both of have lost their 0's but both know all about the KO! They clash in the ring as they are being announce, the Hull crowd boo Katsidis to the rafters and this is no friendly that's for sure. Campbell might be his boxing buddy but Katsidies is simply in his way

    10/25/2014 9:08:55 PM
  • [round-1]ROUND ONE
Katsidis is down within seconds... due to a slip. He was up sharp and took the first blood - not literally - trapping Coyle in the corner and aiming down the middle. Coyle then slips, although a nice left uppercut from Katsidis wasn't completely seperate! Katsidis is rumbling in as he always does but at the end Coyle picked him off with a lovely left. But before the bell Katsidis lands left, straight right, then a right hook. Tommy blocks most of it, but will there be more?
    10/25/2014 9:12:18 PM
  • [cut-above-eye]CUT!
Katsidis was caught with presumable a clash of heads. It is the way he boxes, but it is not ideal!
    10/25/2014 9:13:27 PM
  • [ko]BOOM BOOM!
A peach of a left hook floors Katsidies!
    10/25/2014 9:15:34 PM
  • [ko]WHAT A SHOT!
Wow! Katsidis is flat on his back.
He gets up, he makes the 10 but he is all over the shop. Legs gone, balance gone... chance gone! Bang! What a shot!
    10/25/2014 9:17:00 PM
  • [ko]BOOM BOOM!
Watch the replays when you can folks because it is a belter. Katsidis was coming in, a right then a sensational, short hook to the chin stopped him in his tracks. And then toppled him. Flat on his back!
