Live York Dante Day 2 Blog

Will Hayler blogs live from Day 2 of the Dante Meeting

  • Both likeable horses, BB. It's quite a tricky little race really. Calculated Risk had no chance in a strange race at Pontefract last time but ran quite well and it's not hard to see why he's towards the head of the betting. The drying ground will help Eagle Rock and probably won't hinder Cape Tribulation either. I'm starting to wonder why I've gone in so heavy on the Snoozy one - although the father-to-son change of ownership of the licence has certainly helped the form of the Walford horses and that's got to be a plus!

  • Bossy Guest goes for the Coventry Stakes, according to Mick Channon, whose son Michael said: "He's a bit of a lad but he kept finding and finding today. What you see is what you get with him."

  • That's Chris Wright and Willie Carson presenting the prize. You can see the new weighing room under construction in the background and lots of those lovely Livingstone Daisies in the foreground. I tried to grow them once. Bought a packet with 200 seeds. Slugs ate them all. Every one. Never got a single flower.

  • A trifecta perm so big it could sink a ship has just been launched... and they're off for the lucky last. Best of British to one and all.

  • God bless you Jason Hart. Your glorious persistence earns fourth place from the painfully-snow Mr Snoozy. A fortunate pick-up, my favourite type.

  • 5.00 RESULT: 1st Villa Royale 16/1, 2nd Eagle Rock 16/1, 3rd Entihaa 10/1, 4th Mr Snoozy 7/1.

  • The original plan to get a photo of me leading Mr Snoozy into the winner's enclosure has had to be shelved due to his failure to score, but the game goes on. I'll be back tomorrow with more of what you had today, except better, as well as a live Graham Cunningham chat. You can't ask for more than that. Arrivederci.
