An angry David Nixon hits back over allegations of slur he used towards Monty Panesar during England's clash with the Chairman's XI in Alice Springs last week.

It comes as a complete surprise to me to be at the centre of a controversy about racial slurring, and I absolutely refute any allegation that I feigned an Indian accent. "'There's a change of bowler at the Traeger Avenue end... its Montyyy!' That was it. I fail to see how anyone could interpret my introduction of Monty Panesar as racial slurring. I am certainly responsible for what I say, but not what people hear.

  • [darts] MVG TALKS PDC DRAW
Michael van Gerwen's reaction to the first round draw for the Alexandra Palace tournament before he posed with his new friend from Monsters Inc (below).

The first guy (Zoran Lerchbacher), I have never heard of him. He is an overseas qualifier. Ben Ward, he is a youth player, and has come through the rankings I think. You don't do that for nothing so I have to be aware of that and sharp. You need to play the board not the opponent. You just need to win the game. I have a lot more experience but you still have to show it on the day.

Palace warned us on Twitter there was big news here it is. Mile Jedinak has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal.

I'm ecstatic to put pen to paper on a new contract, I've been a part of this football club for two and a half years and I've enjoyed every moment of that. The first season was great and the second obviously ended in us getting promoted and now we're in the Premier League where we want to be, so I'm really happy here and pleased that I've done this.

Everybody within British Swimming supports Tom and his announcement. It’s a very private matter and doesn’t change the very positive way in which we will continue to work with Tom. Tom is one of the world’s leading athletes and has achieved success at every level of competition including Olympic bronze and World gold. I hope the media will give Tom the privacy he deserves to allow him to continue to focus on performance as he continues to be an inspiration and role model to millions around the globe.

  • [darts] THE BEST ONE
Reigning champion Phil Taylor did make it to the Sky Sports News studio to discuss the first round draw for the 2014 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship - here's what he had to say about the Alexandra Palace event...

It's the best one for sure. There's certain venues that I love - I love Blackpool and Dubai is a beautiful venue - but the World Championships is the World Championship. You are in the big arena then. It's like going to Manchester United's football ground, you can't get any bigger. It's the one everybody wants, the trophy and it's a £250,000 to the winner.

Phil Taylor would love to be doing this again early next month
