    • DAILY TELEGRAPH: Michael Conn says England are planning to 'bore' their way back into the series.
    • SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: Michael Vaughan tells the paper that Mitchell Johnson's bowling is the most hostile he has seen since Dale Steyn four years ago.
    • THE AUSTRALIAN: Simon Wilde believes Gary Ballance will play in place of Jonathan Trott in Adelaide.
    • COURIER-MAIL: Robert Craddock says England need to learn how to leave Mitchell Johnson and force him to change his length, pointing out that only 10 of the left-hander's 229 balls in the first Test would have hit the stumps.

  • [manchesterunited]NO ROONEY RUSH
Wayne Rooney has been in excellent form of late and was on the scoresheet again on Sunday as Manchester United drew 2-2 at Tottenham in the Premier League. The England forward has only 18 months to run on his current contract, but David Moyes doesn't know when talks on a new deal will commence...

I think we are fine. We are just moving on from the summer. It will be done in good course. The appropriate people will talk when the time is right.
Two goals and another influential display all over the pitch made Wayne Rooney the #mufc man of the match in the 2-2 draw with Spurs. #rooney

An angry David Nixon hits back over allegations of slur he used towards Monty Panesar during England's clash with the Chairman's XI in Alice Springs last week.

It comes as a complete surprise to me to be at the centre of a controversy about racial slurring, and I absolutely refute any allegation that I feigned an Indian accent. "'There's a change of bowler at the Traeger Avenue end... its Montyyy!' That was it. I fail to see how anyone could interpret my introduction of Monty Panesar as racial slurring. I am certainly responsible for what I say, but not what people hear.

  • [olympics]DALEY REACTION
British Swimming chief executive David Sparkes has given his reaction to Tom Daley's decision to reveal he's currently in a relationship with a man.

Everybody within British Swimming supports Tom and his announcement. It’s a very private matter and doesn’t change the very positive way in which we will continue to work with Tom. Tom is one of the world’s leading athletes and has achieved success at every level of competition including Olympic bronze and World gold. I hope the media will give Tom the privacy he deserves to allow him to continue to focus on performance as he continues to be an inspiration and role model to millions around the globe.

  • [darts] THE BEST ONE
Reigning champion Phil Taylor did make it to the Sky Sports News studio to discuss the first round draw for the 2014 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship - here's what he had to say about the Alexandra Palace event...

It's the best one for sure. There's certain venues that I love - I love Blackpool and Dubai is a beautiful venue - but the World Championships is the World Championship. You are in the big arena then. It's like going to Manchester United's football ground, you can't get any bigger. It's the one everybody wants, the trophy and it's a £250,000 to the winner.

Phil Taylor would love to be doing this again early next month

  • [england] BE PREPARED
Roy Hodgson has been speaking about England's preparations for the 2014 World Cup at a press conference organised by Football Association sponsors Mars, who have just announced a new four-year deal through to the 2018 tournament. He's happy that everything will be organised in plenty of time to make his life as easy as possible, as his thoughts turn to Friday's draw.

The great thing about working with the FA is that they are incredibly well prepared. I came in at late notice for the Euros and a lot of preparation had already been done - it was first class and it will be first class again. We have been occupying our time thinking about a lot of things we can do. But, of course, until we get the draw and we know where we are and when our first game is we have got to leave the actual detail. But in general we have got it all organised

Roy Hodgson hopes everything is ready to go for the World Cup

  • [cricket] ASHES BETTING
The very latest betting news from Sky Bet ahead of the second Test in Adelaide.
England are 5/2 outsiders for the second Ashes Test, with Australia 13/8 and a draw actually considered the most likely outcome at 6/4. The Adelaide Oval has been a batsman's paradise this year with plenty of domestic draws, so we're expecting some big scores. Typically we're seeing the majority of the money on the tourists to bounce back but Alastair Cook's men are now 5/2 to win the series and 6/5 to retain the urn after that comprehensive defeat in Brisbane.
