Munster coach Rob Penney insists his side will "give it a good crack" against Clermont in the Heineken Cup semi-final.
We are going to go over there and give it a good crack. A game of rugby is such a dynamic one that on any given day an underdog can pull it off. It's 15 versus 15, we have a great referee in Nigel Owens and we just have to make sure we prepare well and perform.

Eric Fisher received the honour of being the No 1 overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft when he was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs at the start of a defensive-looking first round of the draft in New York.
The Central Michigan man was the first name read out by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at Radio City Music Hall - the first time a player from that small school has led the Draft selections.
In a draft dominated by linemen and defensive players, just the one quarterback was taken and no running back was selected for the first time since 1963.

Ronan O'Gara insists he is not thinking of retiring at the end of the season even if Munster win the Heineken Cup. Even though victory would seem to be the perfect way for O'Gara to bow out, he told Sky Sports he will continue playing as long as he keeps to his own high levels.
Munster has given me everything so I want to make so I am up for another season. I am an all or nothing person. I have been lucky enough to be main man in this team for so long so if I feel I am playing well that's the most important thing.

David Cameron has been discussing the Luis Suarez punishment and says it is a matter for the Football Association - although his own intervention in the matter was merely that of a concerned father.
    The Prime Minister said
I made my own views clear just as a dad watching the game. I've got a seven-year-old son who just loves watching football and when players behave like this it just sets the most appalling example to young people in our country.
Pressed on whether a 10-match ban was appropriate for the offence, he added:
That's up to the FA, it's not my decision. The FA make the decision, they're entirely independent and that is the way it should work. I'm going to leave it entirely to the FA. But if you're asking me as a dad and as a human being, do I think we should have tough penalties when players behave like this, yes I think we should.

    4/26/2013 7:31:20 AM

Transfer talk has already begun to ramp up and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he is "afraid" of Chelsea's potential summer spending spree under a new manager. Chelsea are expected to appoint a new boss at the end of the season with interim boss Rafa Benitez unlikely to stay on at Stamford Bridge and Blues owner Roman Abramovich is likely to give his new manager substantial funds to bolster the squad. Wenger is expecting big moves from Chelsea with the likes of Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao strongly linked with a transfer and the Gunners chief fears how strong their London rivals could become with more additions in the summer. He said:
I'm afraid of what Chelsea can do in the summer. We have to be prepared for them to be one of the biggest movers in terms of investment once the window opens. Even though they already have a great base to their squad, notably their young players such as Oscar, Juan Mata, Ramires and Eden Hazard, I think they will be busy during the transfer window. We've heard a lot of talk about Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao. Some people say it's already a done deal, but I've heard nothing.

Wigan Warriors winger Pat Richards will leave the club at the end of the season to re-join NRL side Wests Tigers. The 31-year-old Australian has admitted it was a difficult decision.
This has been a difficult decision to make as I have thoroughly enjoyed my eight seasons with Wigan but the time has come for my family and I to return home.
    4/26/2013 7:44:43 AM

[ssn]Tony Gale has been discussing the Luis Suarez situation and admits he is surprised that Liverpool have taken issue with the severity of the punishment.
I've never quite seen anything like it but when you have done that kind of thing when you have been playing abroad you just can't have it on a football pitch. I just don't think Liverpool can have any grumbles. That was just ridiculous. Everyone was appalled.

After revealing yesterday he is considering his future at Manchester City, Kolo Toure has expressed his frustration at his lack of chances at the club.
The last two years have been really tough for me. I haven't had a lot of games and was working really hard every day. The only chance I got to play was when someone was injured. Now I just want to go somewhere to play football and the competition will be right.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been speaking ahead of Sunday's visit of Premier League champions Manchester United and has called on the Gunners fans to respect former striker Robin van Persie amid speculation he will be greeted with a hostile reception at Emirates Stadium - as well as reports fans could turn their backs on United's guard of honour.
We respect Van Persie like every other player who has left and comes back. I want the player to be respected. I want the traditions of English football to be respected.
Wenger, whose side are fighting for a top-four finish, believes it will take a special display to see off their rivals.
They have been remarkable, especially at home. They've won it in a convincing way. What we know is that we will need a great performance to beat Manchester United. That's what we will focus on.

    4/26/2013 9:04:14 AM

British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland insists nobody will find out about his squad prior to the official announcement on April 30 - even the players themselves.
They're going to find out with the rest of the rugby world when the squad is announced. The positive thing is we have so many choices, in certain positions there are three or four players we could select. We are not worrying about who we are going to select but who we are going to leave out.

Bayern Munich have released a statement on their official website denying reports that a contract has already been agreed with Borussia Dortmund for striker Robert Lewandowski. Widespread speculation in the German media suggested that Lewandowski - a reported Premier League target - had agreed to join Bayern either this summer for a transfer fee or in 2014 when his Dortmund contract expires.

    4/26/2013 9:18:40 AM

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has been speaking ahead of his side's trip to fellow relegation candidates Reading this weekend and insists Rangers will continue to push for points despite their predicament, sitting second-bottom of the Premier League and 10 points adrift of safety with four games remaining.
It's important we go to Reading and play well. We'll take loads of fans and we need to play well for them. We've just got to keep going and collect as many points as we possibly can.
Redknapp says he is already looking ahead to next season and intends to shake up his squad in the summer.
I'm already thinking about next year. The players need to show me they want to play for us. It's a big summer for us. We need to get the right people in here to help us out. We'll only let those players go that we want to.

[milesharrison] Miles Harrison says Clermont may be favourites to win the Heineken Cup but don't write-off Munster!
Clermont were my tip for the Cup if they could get past Leinster which they have done, so I am not about to say that they are not my favourite to go through this weekend. But, Munster have a fighting chance and sometimes that is all they need because they can fight alright.

    4/26/2013 9:44:01 AM

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has been speaking about the 10-match ban handed to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez for biting Branislav Ivanovic and believes the punishment is harsh on the Uruguayan.
In my personal opinion, 10 games is too long. Sometimes the FA make strange decisions, but 10 games is too much.
Mancini has also responded after United secured their 20th league title on Monday, admitting City's neighbours went on a better run.
They did better than us. They won a lot of games in a row, though they lost points against us and West Ham, but they did well. Of course we have made mistakes and we have to learn from them. But if another team does better than you, you can do nothing.

The Premier League have confirmed Anthony Fry will replace Sir Dave Richards as Premier League chairman in June on their official website, with Chelsea chief Bruce Buck - chairman of the Nominations Committee which appointed Fry - welcoming him to the role.
We have appointed an individual with the correct blend of experience, skills, attitude and demeanour to represent the best interests of the Premier League.
