There are some strong words from Richard Bevan, chief executive of the League Managers' Association, who has branded the sacking culture in English football an 'arrogant embarrassment'.
That's over 100 people, 100 managers, 100 families. It takes two years to get back into the game and the volatility of the job is undermining the profession of coaching.

Ed Chamberlin fears for Sunderland's Premier League future after their loss to 10-man Norwich on Super Sunday.
Sunderland's performance against Norwich on Super Sunday was alarming and they look devoid of confidence and any momentum at just the wrong time and, as our studio guest Andy Cole explained after the game, they created virtually nothing in the 60 minutes against 10 men.

[ssn]Leeds half-back Rob Burrow has told Sky Sports News he is in favour of an increase in the salary cap.
It is certainly a good idea. If it happens and when it happens I am not too sure but the NRL recently raised the salary cap in Australia and if we did that here we could possibly attract the biggest stars from over there, as well as keeping rugby league players in rugby league. I am sure it is a decision that they are talking about all the time. It certainly would stop people leaving the sport and get the best talent on the pitch.

[peterbeagrie] Managerial comings and goings continue apace in The Football League. Check out Peter Beagrie’s views on the Venky’s, Dean Holdsworth and Lee Johnson to name but a few…
I said these people, including football guru, Shebby Singh , could ruin Blackburn after years of stability and they have done nothing to change my opinion. The squad has underachieved and form, injuries and in-fighting has had a negative effect and now Gary Bowyer, who took 10 points from 12 in his caretaker spell earlier in the season, has been charged with steadying the ship until the end of the season and garnering enough points to fend off a devastating drop into League One, which, Peter, would constitute irreparable damage.

[ssn]Ricky Burns is back in full training and looking forward to finally fighting on May 11 – his opponent will be announced next Tuesday at a press conference...
I know Eddie Hearn has been working around the clock to get me in a big fight. I think it’s down to three names, but I do know it’s going to be a tough fight. I know the WBO are trying to insist I fight my mandatory challenger. If it’s that fight, I know it’s going to be hard.
The Scotsman could face Adrien Broner somewhere along the line – and it’s an opponent he would definitely like to face…
They’ve been talking about this fight for maybe a couple of years – it’s a fight I’m really up for. Obviously the way Eddie is talking, we will get a couple of fights in Scotland to build my profile then we’d have no problem getting him over to Glasgow. Me and my trainer have spoken about game plans if we did – I know what way I would fight him
You can hear more from Burns on tonight's episode of Ringside, which first airs from 6pm on Sky Sports 2 HD

An update has been released on the condition of jockey JT McNamara following his serious fall at Cheltenham last week.
JT McNamara remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol. He is in a stable condition and his level of sedation is being reduced.  Whilst his vertebral damage remains serious, he has not suffered a brain injury. His wife Caroline and family very much appreciate all the messages, cards and letters that have been received. There will be no further update this week.

Alex Hammond says a John Gosden-trained horse will be the the steed to watch at Doncaster's Lincoln hurdle this weekend.
Lahaag is a horse I'd rather be with than against. Although he is drawn relatively low, I hope he goes well for the Gosden camp. He has only had the four career starts, winning two of them and finishing second twice.

Here's more from Roy Hodgson's England press conference, in which he cast doubt over Rio Ferdinand's international future. On Monday the England boss claimed he was "looking forward to hopefully selecting Rio for squads in the future", but asked again whether Ferdinand is part of his future plans this afternoon, the manager said: "We should just wait and see."

[jamieredknapp] Following Hodgson's comments about Ferdinand, Sky Sports expert Jamie Redknapp has said he doesn't expect to see the Manchester United man in an England shirt again.
For Ferdinand to pull out without an injury puts Hodgson in a position where he can't really rely on the Manchester United defender again in the future. A lot of players put club before country now and that's just the way it is. I broke my ankle twice and tore a hamstring playing for England. That cost me three or four years of my career, so more than anyone I can empathise with Ferdinand about his concerns in trying to get the most out of the playing time he has left.

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni believes Leeds midfielder Paul Green could be his country's answer to Nobby Stiles. Trapattoni has preferred Green, not universally popular among fans and pundits, to Wigan's James McCarthy for his side's vital World Cup qualifier in Sweden on Friday.
If we are to have this balance, if Seamus Coleman goes forward (from right-back), I said we must also push the defensive line. We have to stay in this position. Paul Green has the attitude. There are famous names - Gattuso. He was a player with character and attitude. He won the Italian league and Champions League. There have been players in England. Remember Nobby Stiles? They are players who were not full of class like Lionel Messi, but football is not only this.
Trapattoni considers how Green could play a key role in Friday's clash

Fabio Capello insists he is committed to Russia's World Cup campaign and has no knowledge of any interest from Chelsea. The former England manager is among a number of coaches who have been linked with the Stamford Bridge hot-seat in the summer, when interim boss Rafael Benitez will leave the club.
I know nothing about this (link to Chelsea). I am really happy with Russia and focused to qualify for the World Cup.
