Alex Hammond says a John Gosden-trained horse will be the the steed to watch at Doncaster's Lincoln hurdle this weekend.
Lahaag is a horse I'd rather be with than against. Although he is drawn relatively low, I hope he goes well for the Gosden camp. He has only had the four career starts, winning two of them and finishing second twice.

A win for Tiger Woods at this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational would see him overtake Rory McIlroy as world number one. Woods has just completed his opening round in Florida and carded a three-under par 69. That's currently put him into a tie for third but the early pacesetter is England's Justin Rose, who has just signed for a superb seven-under 65.

[ssn]Roy Hodgson on his defensive options
I have picked Michael Carrick as a midfielder. Would be harsh on defenders here to use him in defence.

Here's more from Roy Hodgson's England press conference, in which he cast doubt over Rio Ferdinand's international future. On Monday the England boss claimed he was "looking forward to hopefully selecting Rio for squads in the future", but asked again whether Ferdinand is part of his future plans this afternoon, the manager said: "We should just wait and see."

[jamieredknapp] Following Hodgson's comments about Ferdinand, Sky Sports expert Jamie Redknapp has said he doesn't expect to see the Manchester United man in an England shirt again.
For Ferdinand to pull out without an injury puts Hodgson in a position where he can't really rely on the Manchester United defender again in the future. A lot of players put club before country now and that's just the way it is. I broke my ankle twice and tore a hamstring playing for England. That cost me three or four years of my career, so more than anyone I can empathise with Ferdinand about his concerns in trying to get the most out of the playing time he has left.

[skybet]England are massive 1/100 favourites to beat San Marino in Friday evening's World Cup qualifier but tipster Dave Tindall has unearthed a way of cashing in on a very strong trend involving the hosts which pays out at nearly even money.

Typically, teams like San Marino tire badly late on and backing most second half goals would have been a winner in 8 of their last 10 internationals.

We've got more from Steven Gerrard's England press conference, during which the Three Lions captain insisted his side will show respect to San Marino in Friday's World Cup qualifier. The skipper says taking the three points is all that matters.
We don't look at the game as an easy game, all the pressure is on England and we respect the opposition in San Marino.

Rickie Lambert says he is "over the moon" to have signed a contract extension at Southampton to keep him there until 2016 and hopes to end his career at the club. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise on the striker after he prolonged his deal.
Rickie Lambert is a very special player for Southampton. To have scored over 100 goals is a remarkable achievement, and one which he has made possible thanks to hard work and dedication.

[ssn]Wales manager Chris Coleman has been speaking to Sky Sports News over Gareth Bale's chances of starting against Scotland in Friday's World Cup qualifier. The boss is optimistic over the winger after he took part in his first training session today following a virus.
He came up after us, took a later flight, he was suffering for a few days with an illness, which he contracted probably Tuesday or Wednesday. But he's okay, got a later flight and he's at the hotel...I wouldn't like to give too much away but he's got as good a chance as anybody else of starting.

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni believes Leeds midfielder Paul Green could be his country's answer to Nobby Stiles. Trapattoni has preferred Green, not universally popular among fans and pundits, to Wigan's James McCarthy for his side's vital World Cup qualifier in Sweden on Friday.
If we are to have this balance, if Seamus Coleman goes forward (from right-back), I said we must also push the defensive line. We have to stay in this position. Paul Green has the attitude. There are famous names - Gattuso. He was a player with character and attitude. He won the Italian league and Champions League. There have been players in England. Remember Nobby Stiles? They are players who were not full of class like Lionel Messi, but football is not only this.
Trapattoni considers how Green could play a key role in Friday's clash

UEFA have delayed making a decision on punishments for Sir Alex Ferguson and Nani for their indiscretions in Manchester United's Champions League defeat to Real Madrid. The midfielder is guaranteed to receive a one-match ban, which could be extended if UEFA's disciplinary panel decide his challenge was unduly dangerous, while Ferguson was enraged at the decision and refused to attend the mandatory post-match press conference, an offence that could result in a fine and a touchline ban. UEFA were originally expected to deliver their verdicts today, but a decision will now not be announced until tomorrow at the earliest.

There's been a new twist in the Coventry cast, with the club insisting in a statement on their official website that they will continue to operate "as normal" despite a subsidiary company being placed in administration. The League One club and owners SISU are due in the High Court on Friday amid claims they owe £1.3million in unpaid rent to the owners of their Ricoh Arena home. Arena Coventry Limited (ACL), who manage the Ricoh Arena, want the club placed in administration - a penalty which usually carries a 10-point deduciton.
It is important to stress that the football club itself is not under threat. This is merely a property subsidiary which owns no material assets and has no employees, on or off the pitch. The Club can confirm that all staff wages, PAYE and all other creditor commitments will continue to be met as before by Coventry City Football Club Holdings.

Fabio Capello insists he is committed to Russia's World Cup campaign and has no knowledge of any interest from Chelsea. The former England manager is among a number of coaches who have been linked with the Stamford Bridge hot-seat in the summer, when interim boss Rafael Benitez will leave the club.
I know nothing about this (link to Chelsea). I am really happy with Russia and focused to qualify for the World Cup.
