The big news today could revolve around the future of Wigan manager Roberto Martinez. Chairman Dave Whelan revealed yesterday that he expected a decision within the next 24 hours as speculation continues to link the Spaniard with the vacant positions at both Stoke and Everton.

Juan Mata would welcome the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Chelsea’s new manager and says they must aspire to win the Premier League.
Jose is one of the best. He won everything in every country he was – in Portugal, in Italy, in London with Chelsea, and in Spain as well.

On a similar theme of a potential new manager earning praise, Pablo Zabaleta has hailed Manuel Pellegrini and backed him to bring success to Manchester City if he is named as Roberto Mancini’s replacement. Pellegrini is widely expected to come in at the Etihad Stadium after it was confirmed he is to leave Malaga at the end of the Spanish season.
He likes to play attractive football. What I saw with Malaga, whenever they played they played to win. This is something important for a top team. Wherever you go to play, you play to win.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers admits he expects Andy Carroll's future to be decided long before the end of the transfer window. The Reds have agreed a fee with West Ham for Carroll after the striker enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Upton Park this season.
At the start of the season the whole thing was about going and getting games because he wasn't going to be a starter here. We will talk again with him and the club to see how it all evolves. It's one of those situations where it will probably be resolved a lot quicker than that for both parties.

Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has denied the club are chasing the signatures of Radamel Falcao and Neymar, whilst also insisting that Sergio Aguero will not be going anywhere.
Neymar and Falcao? [These reports are] false, they have never been on our agenda. The first thing I want to emphasise is that we have never thought of selling Aguero. El Kun will be happy to stay with us this year.

[edchamberlin] Sky Sports presenter Ed Chamberlin has been looking at the best bets for the weekend and is struggling to oppose Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final.
Bayern are such a well-oiled machine with strength in every department. Their back five is immense and in Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger they have the best central midfield partnership in club football. To add to that organisation and efficiency, Bayern also have plenty of flair with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben and also keep an eye on how hard Jupp Heynckes has got them working for the team.

Oliver Fisher holds the clubhouse lead at the BMW PGA Championship. The Englishman fired a two-under score of 70 after teeing off this morning at 7.20am.
It was pretty cold out there this morning and the wind has been pretty strong. Wentworth is one of those tracks that you just have to get through the front nine, the first 12 or 13 holes, you just have to keep plugging at it. I finished well, with three birdies in the last four.

Oliver Fisher wasn't leading the way for too long in the clubhouse at Wentworth - Mikko Ilonen is now heading the pack at five under. The key to his score of 67? Patience...
It was pretty nippy in the morning when we started, and still is. I could have been more aggressive on holes like 13 and 16 to advance it a bit more, but I took my medicine and chipped it out, trying to make my pars that way. Staying patient out there is the key. It hasn’t been the best of places for me but I’ve always enjoyed coming here – the tournament is first class.

Rory McIlroy was still able to take some positive from his round of 74 at the BMW PGA Championship, despite dropping five shots over his last six holes...
