British and Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell has admitted England and Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw was unlucky to miss out on selection of this summer's tour of Australia.
It's unbelievably tough. Chris (Robshaw) has had a tremendous season. Man-of-the-match performances for his country and led England superbly well and had some great form.

    • Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcel Schmelzer are the only outfield players to have featured in every single minute of this season's Champions League campaign.
    • Robert Lewandowski has been directly involved in 52% of Dortmund's goals in the Champions League this season.

  • Gary Cahill has urged Chelsea to have another strong end to the season as the Blues target Europa League glory and a top-four finish.
Last season was a strong finish and I hope we can do the same this year. We're in a good position but it's dangerous because we've got some great teams coming up in Spurs, Manchester United and Everton, who people tend to forget about but they're not far away. Obviously we've got the cup as well so it needs a big push from the players over an important few games.

Interesting interview with Brendan Rodgers on Sky Sports News at the moment. Says Liverpool 'need more depth' to compete consistently. Although he's been happy overall with how his team has performed this season he concedes Liverpool need to add quality to their ranks. The Ulsterman went on to confirm work on possible incoming signings is an 'ongoing process'. Video to follow just as soon as we get it.

[philclarke] Phil Clarke wonders if rugby league standards would necessarily drop if players went back to representing their teams on a part-time basis.
Jamie Peacock and Kevin Sinfield have also used their spare time effectively to earn degrees and are currently in the process of studying for their Masters Degree. If the best players are able to do it then why aren't the rest?

Look away now Chelsea fans as Juventus star Andrea Pirlo has claimed he was once very close to agreeing to move to West London when at AC Milan. The Italian schemer looked all set to grace the Premier League at the tail-end of his time in Milan until Silvio Berlusconi intervened. Read the full story here
I had already reached an agreement with Chelsea, but (Silvio) Berlusconi intervened and I stayed at AC Milan. I was also very close to a move to Real Madrid in 2006, when coach (Fabio) Capello was there. And (Pep) Guardiola approached me in 2011 to convince me to go to Barcelona, but again it was Berlusconi who put a stop to it.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers discusses his summer plans here.

The club respect where we need to strengthen and where we need to improve. We have seen from the last window in January, we got our business done early and brought in two outstanding players in Sturridge and Coutinho. Hopefully we will have a similar impact in the summer. If we can do that, that will make me really happy with the group going forward.

This week's PGA Tour event - the Wells Fargo Championship - takes place at Quail Hollow in North Carolina and 10 of the top 25 in the world are taking part. They include 2010 winner Rory McIlroy although Dave Tindall is tipping another European.
A quality course usually brings a quality champion and that's very much been the case here. So, after a very solid Masters, this could be the week where Sergio Garcia posts his ninth PGA Tour win. He's come mighty close here before and the 22/1 could prove an excellent price.

Remarkably, there's a 12-year-old in the field for this week's Volvo China Open. Not surprisingly, he's the youngest ever player to take part in a European Tour event. Read Dave Tindall's tournament preview and get his best bets here.
