We are waiting developments in Everton's search for a new manager after Wigan chairman Dave Whelan revealed compensation has been agreed for Roberto Martinez. Whelan claims he has reached a deal with Goodison Park counterpart Bill Kenwright, who held talks with the Spaniard last week but Everton countered Whelan's statement with one of their own claiming it was "somewhat premature" to suggest Martinez had already been appointed. The 39-year-old is a near-unbackable 1/50 with Sky Bet to be confirmed as David Moyes' successor, and Everton's statement went on to say "positive moves are being made".

Much attention is still focused on Jose Mourinho's return to Chelsea and Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas insists he bears his former coach no ill will and has wished him luck at Stamford Bridge. Casillas fell out of favour under Mourinho during the Portuguese's last season at Madrid and ended up not playing a single match for the first team in the final five months of the season but he said in the in the Spanish press:
I don't hold any grudge nor do I feel mistreated by him. He took the decisions which he thought were the best for the club and you need to respect that. I've nothing personal against him. Unfortunately we weren't able to achieve our objectives in the Copa del Rey and Champions League in the end, but there's no point going on about that. Mourinho has embarked on a new journey and I wish him the best.

Arsene Wenger has acknowledged he made a 'huge mistake' in not signing Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale for Arsenal. Bale joined Tottenham in the summer of 2007 from Southampton, 18 months after his former team-mate Theo Walcott had moved to Arsenal.
We didn't take him as we had Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy and didn't want another left-back. I must confess it was a huge mistake as he can play in midfield. He struggled at the start at Tottenham, then they moved him to midfield and he has done exceptionally well. The career of a player sometimes depends on playing in the right position.

[guillembalague]Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has joined us live in the Sky Sports News studio to discuss Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea. On whether Mourinho has learned from his time at Real Madrid, Guillem says…
Everything that he does will divide opinion… he does not make it easy how he tells things, fights with the media and fights with people at clubs.
On suggestions Chelsea and Mourinho are both on the rebound after missing out on other managerial targets and the Manchester United job, respectively, Guillem says.
That is an interesting theory. It is true Roman Abramovich approached Pep Guardiola and Manuel Pellegrini. It is also true in the past three years that Roman Abramovich has at least twice attempted to convince Jose Mourinho to take over.

[guillembalague]Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has been having his say on the reports linking Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale with a move to Real Madrid.
They will table a bid – two or three bids. Their plan was to make Neymar expensive for Barcelona, which they did. Their second target is to get Bale. Will they get him? I do not know, because there is a big doubt about it. He will be difficult to get him financially. But they are willing to put in €100million (£86m) for Bale and Suarez.
