  • DARTS

[rodharrington] Rod Harrington says Wes Newton needs a few more legs of consistency to beat Phil Taylor in week seven of the Premier League in Cardiff.
Phil has not looked right in the last three weeks and this is the best time for Newton to play him. If he can get out of the gate quickly and get in front then you never know - and a win for Newton would be huge for him, not only in the Premier League but in darts for the rest of the year.

Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn has told Sky Sports that he fully intends on continuing his fight over the Olympic Stadium.
We are suggesting a ground share with West Ham but we are not getting much support...so we are fighting our corner as we do from the East End.

Swansea defender Ashley Williams is not planning to leave the Liberty Stadium in the summer, according to his agent Jamie Moralee. The Wales centre-back has been linked with possible moves to either Liverpool, managed by former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, or Arsenal.
If he is drawing the attention of the big boys then that is a good thing, because it shows he is developing and Swansea are developing. But he has never knocked on the chairman's door and said he wants to leave and he has never handed in a transfer request.

Former England captain Martin Johnson says Wales lock Alun Wyn Jones should skipper the Lions in Australia this summer.
He's played a lot of games, he's done it, he has been out there before with the Lions in '09, so I think he's in the frame.

  • Sky Bet go odds-on (2/5) that Graham Westley becomes the next manager of Stevenage. Westley looks the obvious choice to make a return to the club after Gary Smith's nightmare spell, as he oversaw a run of 13 losses in 18 games. Westley was at the last Stevenage game which will only serve to fuel speculation about a return. Former Luton manager Paul Buckle is the 6/1 second favourite but the job looks to be Westley's to turn down. [skybet]

  • GOLF

Following his encouraging start to the season, in-form Tiger Woods says he wants to become a better player than he was when he dominated the world of golf.
I don't want to become as good as I once was, I want to become better. We'll see. It's been a long process. I was hurt for a long time and at the same time had to make swing changes that were drastically different. I fell to 50 plus (in the rankings) for a while and to gradually work my back is something I am very proud of.
Woods will regain the world No 1 spot if he takes a seventh career title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill this week.
