  • [twtr]Jamie Foster's reaction to committing his future to the Bradford Bulls
Happy to have Signed my new 2 year deal with @OfficialBullsRL ....It was a no brainer for me, loved it since the first day I came. Everyone has been great with me and I had no interest in moving elsewhere. Hopefully I'm back fit in no time and we can finish strongly.

Manchester United's veteran defender Rio Ferdinand has explained his reasons for calling time on his England career.
At the age of 34, I feel it is right for me to stand aside and let the younger players come through, which allows me to concentrate on my club career. The team looks in great shape and there is an influx of young, talented players coming through the ranks which bodes well for the future.

I need to make sure I'm fit. I'm really confident that with the work I've been doing that I will be. I've managed to play 90-odd Test matches and only missed one through my career so that's a big part of why preparation is so important for me.
    5/15/2013 8:10:12 AM

England manager Roy Hodgson praised Rio Ferdinand after the defender retired from internationals.
It is important to pay tribute to someone of Rio's stature and the achievements he had in a senior international career with England over 14 years at the highest level.

Former Wigan boss Paul Jewell has told Sky Sports that there's no reason to assume Wigan won't bounce straight back after their relegation was confirmed last night
A lot of people are saying it's the end. It's important after all the hard work that's gone into the club over the years and the progress they've made to realise that despite this setback, it's not the end of Wigan. I don't know what's going to happen with the players and the manager, but it's a time for reflection having been in the Premier League for eight years and winning the FA Cup on Saturday. It used to drive me mad when people would pat us on the back after beating us and say nice things. It's important the club bounces back.

Brian McDermott relieved to see Danny McGuire avoid a ban for punching in Leeds' Challenge Cup defeat at Huddersfield.
I understand what they are saying, they don't condone punching and I whole-heartedly agree with that - but in a court of law if someone punches you squarely in the face you are allowed to defend yourself.

[ssn]Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has been in the studio to discuss Roberto Mancini’s Etihad Stadium departure and the possible arrival of Manuel Pellegrini.
We can look at Pellegrini’s CV and what he did at Villarreal. Obviously he had a difficult year at Real Madrid, where the president was possibly buying players for him. Of course, he has done very well at Malaga. When City’s owners talk about a ‘holistic’ approach, they are possibly talking more about the emotional aspect of dealing with players. It was made clear Mancini was not overly interested in working the Academy. The ‘holistic’ approach is about the whole ethos of the club.
We will bring you any breaking news from Manchester City

[rodharrington] Sky Sports expert Rod Harrington previews tomorrow night's Premier League Play-Offs at the O2 Arena in London as Michael van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld, Phil Taylor and James Wade battle it out for the title.
You've got four real contrasting styles; Van Gerwen is the extrovert; Barney is the great who beats himself up; Wade is someone who gets up and focuses on the job in hand; and Taylor just likes to beat the player in front of him. If you're going on form you'd be tipping the table-topper Van Gerwen to win on Thursday night. However, a little bit like Wigan in the FA Cup Final, you can forget the form book at this stage

[ssn]Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has been speaking to us live from outside Emirates Stadium. He is confident the Gunners will finish in the top four of the Premier League after last night’s win over Wigan Athletic ahead of a final game of the season against Newcastle United.
I am sure they will not throw it away now. They have done ever so well to get in this position. They will go to Newcastle and know what they have to do. I am sure they will get a result.

A cold Sky Sports expert Michael Atherton has been speaking at Lord’s ahead of the first Test against New Zealand on Thursday and he believes the Black Caps will prove a tricky opposition for England. Catch all the action from 10am on Sky Sports 1HD on Thursday.
It’s the start of the summer, there’s a hell of a lot to look forward to. Let’s hope it warms up a bit. They (New Zealand) are a pretty decent side. England shouldn’t underestimate this New Zealand side. They’ve a decent young seam attack who can cause problems if they move the ball around. They’ve got one or two very exciting batsmen. The likes of Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson, who is a very effective number three. McCullum’s captaincy is inventive and aggressive. He might cause problems with the way he approaches the game.
