Sky Sports Today - Wednesday May 15

Raymond van Barneveld has finished above Phil Taylor for the first time in Premier League history - but he insists that will mean nothing when the duo clash in Thursday night's play-offs.
I finished above Phil but at the end of the day what does that mean? Michael van Gerwen beat me twice in the Premier League so what happens if I reach the final and Michael is there? Does it mean he will beat me three times? You never know.

Sunderland may be safe after Wigan’s loss to Arsenal but manager Paolo Di Canio has threatened to cut short the summer holidays if his players do not perform at Tottenham.
I told them we can win, draw or lose with dignity, respecting the club's name and the fans who follow them. But if not, I will reduce their holiday.

The Chelsea announcer having some fun with the team introduction. Frank Lampard is introduced as 'The Legend'.

I went through something hard but the support from the football family and around the world has been just magnificent.

  • Benfica width causing lots of problems. But there is so much space for Mata if Chelsea can just get the ball to him.

It is still goalless in the Europa League final but it has been an absorbing first half. Benfica and Chelsea are just about to resume after the interval and you can follow the action with our minute-by-minute commentary, or stay with Sky Sports Today for updates from Adam Bate in Amsterdam.
    5/15/2013 7:45:18 PM

We've had the opening goal in Amsterdam and it's come for Chelsea through Fernando Torres. Here's the latest from Adam Bate:
With a goal disallowed for Benfica early in the second half their fans were really getting behind the team.
But there were just a few signs that the Portuguese were starting to tire with Ramires, in particular, coming into the game more and more down the right.
It was route one when the goal came though. Great strength and composure from Torres. A feeling that Benfica have blown it?
    5/15/2013 8:05:45 PM

Heading into the final 10 minutes in Amsterdam and we could be looking at extra time as Oscar Cardozo has equalised from the spot for Benfica after Cesar Azpilicueta's handball.
    Adam Bate has the latest:
Just as Chelsea were looking the stronger team for the first time in the match they concede. Both fans fancy a winner now.
The Benfica substitutions just prior to the equaliser have really opened things up because Ola John is playing in an advanced left-wing position allowing Ramires to get at Nicolas Gaitan.

    5/15/2013 8:39:43 PM

It's all over! Chelsea have pulled it off again thanks to an injury-time header from Branislav Ivanovic.
Adam Bate is enjoying the atmosphere inside the Amsterdam Arena.
That Ivanovic header seemed to hang in the air for an age before looping into the far corner. Incredible eruption in the stadium but there's such belief about this Chelsea team you always fancied they'd got this finale in them.

The Chelsea players are overjoyed on the pitch with Paulo Ferreira the focus of much of the attention from his team-mates.

Spare a thought for Benfica though. Their squad stood motionless near the centre circle. Their fans are much the same, only just filtering away.

    5/15/2013 8:47:27 PM

Frank Lampard gave the strongest hint yet he will remain at Chelsea after leading the side to Europa League glory.
I really, really hope so. We haven't sat down completely on it, but I hope so and the club's been brilliant so it looks good.

Rafa Benitez paid tribute to the performance of his Chelsea side after their dramatic Europa League final victory over Benfica.
We had some problems in the first half against a very good team, but I am really pleased for the players and everyone involved.
    5/15/2013 9:41:09 PM

Benfica coach Jorge Jesus feels his side did not have any luck after they lost the Europa League final 2-1 to Chelsea.
We played an excellent game of football again, but we have again been penalised in a game where the only winner could be Benfica. It is difficult to say anything about the game, football is not logical.
