[colinmontgomerie]We're building up to the first major of the season at Augusta all day and Sky Sports pundit Colin Montgomerie believes a Green Jacket for red-hot favourite Tiger Woods would be good for the game of golf. The world number one has three wins from five starts in 2013 and his return to form has raised the prospect of the American adding to his haul of 14 majors. Former European number one Montgomerie reckons win number 15 could come at Augusta this weekend.
If Tiger putts the way he has in the last month, he should win. He seems to be in a much happier place and have his life a little bit more sorted out than he had even last year and I truly believe he's ready now to win a Major - and I think it would be very good for golf if he did.

It's the morning after the night before and we've got plenty of reaction from the Manchester derby. Sergio Aguero's superb individual strike earned Manchester City a 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, and you can read the full report and check out our ratings here. City boss Roberto Mancini felt his team deserved to win the game after closing the gap to 12 points, while his United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson believed the Premier League leaders were unlucky to lose. Vincent Kompany and James Milner, meanwhile, want City to use the victory as momentum for the weekend's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea and next season.

There was also some injury news to come out of the game which could impact on both clubs' next games this weekend. Manchester City midfielder David Silva is doubtful for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley after being forced off late on with a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Manchester United winger Ashley Young is likely to miss Sunday's Premier League trip to Stoke City after hurting his ankle following a challenge by Pablo Zabaleta.

We also produced a couple of feature pieces post-game on the Manchester derby and, in our Premier League snap-shot, Chris Burton takes a look at some of the key points from City's 2-1 victory. Meanwhile, Adam Bate believes that supporters of both Manchester United and Manchester City will have questions about their team on the back of the result.

The reaction to last night's Manchester derby keeps on coming and Roberto Mancini is confident Manchester City can win the title next year, providing he doesn't lose several key players to injury at the same time. Mancini has written off catching United this season, despite closing the gap to 12 points following the 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
We know that we can win the title next year. This year we did some mistakes but we can do nothing now. The season is gone. We can't lose Yaya (Toure), (Sergio) Aguero and (Vincent) Kompany together. We are not so strong that we can lose three or four players together. If we lose one time Aguero or one time Yaya (it is okay), but three or four together is very difficult for us.

With the start of the County Championship just a day away, Yorkshire have been dealt a blow with spinner Adil Rashid hitting out at Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale and admitting he is considering his future with his home county. The 25-year-old has struggled in recent seasons and the leg-spinning all-rounder feels he is not being given the chances to prove himself.
I've been playing here seven years and I want to stay but I have a career and I can't waste another year. If I don't feel as though I've been treated well, I'll go. Obviously there's some blame on me but there's some on the people around me, on the captain and the coaches. The captain knows what I can do because I've got 200-plus (296) first-class wickets. Michael Vaughan used to set defensive fields and just bowl me. He never doubted me ... with Galey it's changed. A couple of overs and that's it.

[pt]In this morning’s Paper Talk, there are a couple of papers reporting that Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is a £4million target for Fulham and that could spell the end of Mark Schwarzer’s Craven Cottage career. Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool are interested in Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel and The Sun claims West Ham United want Loic Remy, if Queens Park Rangers are relegated. There’s also a snippet about the prospect of talks over a new contract for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

[garyneville] Gary Neville says Sergio Aguero's lack of goals has cost Man City the Premier League title, despite the Argentine bagging a belter in Monday's derby win over Man United.
Aguero's goal can only be described as fantastic, but we haven't seen the best of him this season; you can talk about City not having Robin van Persie or whoever, but Aguero has only scored 10 goals in the league. That's got to be an underachievement and that's why City are where they are.

[twtr]We've been asking you if you think City's 2-1 win at Old Trafford has breathed fresh life into the Premier League title race. Here's what you've been saying.

Tony Pulis has never been relegated during his time as a manager, and that is a record that the Stoke City boss is determined to maintain. Stoke have picked up just five points from a possible 36 in 2013 and have dropped to 15th in the table. The Potters are now just three points outside the relegation zone with six games left to play and face Premier League leaders Manchester United live on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday.
We have to keep working hard and believe. As a manager I'll keep fighting on. I have never been relegated as a manager but that's in the past. We have to look to the future and the important thing is getting the players' confidence together.

Here's more on Phil Neville's decision to leave Everton at the end of the season. The defender insists he wants to continue his playing career elsewhere and said in a statement:
It's been an honour to play for and captain Everton Football Club. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on Merseyside and will leave with immense pride. I would like to thank the manager, chairman, all of the staff and the players at Everton for their continued support during my time at the club. I'd also like to pay a special thanks to the fans, who have been amazing over the past eight years and Everton will always have a place in my heart. I want to continue to play at the top level as long as I physically can, and will be weighing up my options before making a decision on my next move.

Hopes remain high that Sprinter Sacre could have his final run of the season in the Champion Chase at Punchestown on April 23. Nicky Henderson's 'black aeroplane' took his unbeaten run over fences to nine at Aintree last week, with a breathtaking performance in the John Smith's Melling Chase and the trainer said:
Sprinter Sacre could go for the Champion Chase at Punchestown on April 23. He still looks absolutely stunning in his coat. His work rider Nico de Boinville will tell me in a week if the horse is 100 per cent. If he is he will run, anything less and he won't.

[ssn]Former Everton defender Andy Hinchcliffe has been on Sky Sports News talking about Phil Neville's decision to leave the club at the end of the season. Hinchcliffe believes the uncertainty surrounding manager David Moyes' future at Goodison Park could have had an influence on Neville's decision.
Looking at the situation with David Moyes, there's a very uncertain summer ahead for Everton. Phil has maybe had a chat with David Moyes and is maybe not sure what the future holds for him and he can't sign a contract to stay at Everton if he doesn't know who the manager is. Maybe that had a role to play and I'm sure we'll find out in time. If the manager is possibly leaving, and the captain is leaving, the feeling is a strange one at Everton and it's going to be a difficult summer in terms of recruiting players for next season.

Jonny Wilkinson has played down talk of a Lions call-up this summer after his excellent performance in Toulon's Heineken Cup quarter-final victory over Leicester Tigers last weekend.
As I've said before, it's now about young guys taking the game forward, who are playing Test matches... As far as I'm concerned, I'm like the guy in the armchair, wishing I could be on the Lions tour. But there's no need for me to be there with these guys around.

[skybet]Roberto Di Matteo is Sky Bet's new 11/10 favourite to be the next Leeds United manager following interest since Monday evening. Brian McDermott, who is now out to 6/4, had been ever present at the head of the market since Neil Warnock's departure, but Di Matteo is now favoured as he attracts the majority of support. Sky Bet's Chris Spicer said:
McDermott had appeared the popular pick but it is now Di Matteo who is seeing support. However, while both look good options; it remains a big question as to whether either would be interested given the instability at the helm of the club. Somewhat surprisingly, we have also seen a fair amount of money for former Leeds player Dominic Matteo to get the job despite no management experience, having placed him in the market upon request at 66/1.

[colinmontgomerie]Colin Montgomerie insists Lee Westwood is drinking in the last-chance saloon as he bids to finally secure an elusive first major title. The Englishman turns 40 later this month and Montgomerie feels his chances of landing one of the game's big prizes are diminishing. Westwood has a fine recent record at Augusta with top-three finishes in two of the last three years but Monty feels this year could represent his last realistic chance of claiming a Green Jacket, insisting that increasing pressure and the march of old father time will see him struggle to break through.
I think this year will be his last chance - there is pressure now. I think England especially and a lot of Britain would love to see Lee Westwood win a major. He has moved to America to try to get this elusive major that we all want but at the same time putting pressure on yourself in this game is not easy. Very few players win or get better, improve, in their 40s, very few.

I'm enamoured by Italy, but England has really won me over. I like everything here: the stadiums, the people. The supporters are incredible, if a player has the opportunity to play in the Premier League he must go, it is an exciting experience.

Ahead of this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix, McLaren managing director Jonathan Neale thinks the team have a good understanding of the problems affecting the MP4-28 and has expressed confidence it won't be too long before they return to winning ways.
As always with cars, there's no one thing or one magic bullet, there are a number of things that will restore the performance of the car. And we believe that we've got an underlying very good package, but it's clearly not the performance that we predicted... I certainly believe we're on the right track now and we do have an idea where the problems are.

Roma skipper Francesco Totti hailed his "most beautiful record" after he equalled the most career goals in a Rome derby during last night's 1-1 draw against Lazio. Totti cancelled out Hernanes' opener when he slid in a 56th-minute penalty to draw level with Dino Da Costa and Marco Delvecchio's derby record of nine goals. The 36-year-old leads Roma's all-time appearance and goalscoring charts but claimed levelling the goal record against his side's fiercest rivals was his most cherished mark.
I wanted (the record) so much. It is my most beautiful record.

[ssn]Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has been on Sky Sports News to talk about last night's derby and he expects Sir Alex Ferguson and the Premier League leaders to regroup. Yorke also believes that the result, which saw City win 2-1 at Old Trafford, was more important for Roberto Mancini's side.
United don't like to lose at all and that would not be going down well in the dressing room. The manager will be very disappointed, and so will the players and all the fans. United has done fantastically well and I'm sure Sir Alex will regroup the players, dust them down and get them prepared for the last six or seven games of the Premier League to make sure they don't make any more mistakes. I do believe the result was more significant for City in terms of Mancini himself getting a good result and taking momentum forward in to the remainder of the campaign.
    4/9/2013 11:13:11 AM

More reaction coming out of last night's derby and Manchester United defender Phil Jones doesn't want to dwell on the 2-1 defeat by City. Jones, who made a rare start at centre-half, is optimistic that United will still go on to wrap up the Premier League title after the gap was cut to 12 points.
We have to keep our heads up because we are still in a fantastic position. The lads deserve an enormous amount of credit and hopefully we can go on and win the league. We have to get back on the training pitch and do what we do best - recover. I am sure we will.
    4/9/2013 11:16:37 AM

There are a couple of important games in the Championship tonight which have implications at both ends of the table. Leaders Cardiff City could go 11 points clear of third-placed Watford with five games left to play if they beat Barnsley, who sit 20th and are just a point outside the relegation zone. Barnsley's South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday are also on their travels as Dave Jones' men head to Millwall. The Owls are three points clear of the bottom three, while a win for Millwall would lift Kenny Jackett's side in to the top half of the table and on to 55 points.

Felipe Massa is in confident mood ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, believing Ferrari have the pace to challenge for the title this season.

Wigan Athletic face Millwall in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday, but chairman Dave Whelan insists staying in the Premier League remains the priority. Wigan are currently in the relegation zone due to an inferior goal difference to Sunderland and have seven games left to pull off another ‘great escape’.
Staying up is more important than winning the semi-final. No question about that. I have promised the players a holiday in Barbados not for winning the FA Cup but for staying up.
    4/9/2013 11:41:37 AM

League One serves up four games tonight and most of the focus will be on the battle for promotion to the Championship. Leaders Doncaster are at home to Carlisle United and victory would take Rovers five points clear of second-placed Bournemouth with three games to play. However, Sheffield United are still firmly in the mix for automatic promotion and will go third if they beat Crawley Town at home. Danny Wilson's Blades also have games in hand on Doncaster and Bournemouth. Swindon Town will hope to boost their play-off hopes at MK Dons, who need to win to stand a chance of gatecrashing the top six. And finally, one game of importance at the bottom end of the table sees Oldham Athletic, who are outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, make the trip to North West rivals Preston North End.
