Live coverage of the NatWest T20 blast - Notts v Lancashire

  • [wicket] WICKET! Hales c White b Anderson 6
Anderson strikes! Hales' hopes of impressing in front of the Sky cameras are over quickly. He skies an attempt to pull the seamer, only resulting in a simple catch to mid-wicket
    5/16/2014 5:36:38 PM
  • Over 2: NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 11/1 (Lumb 4, Taylor 0)
Skipper James Taylor is the new man at the crease for the hosts. Lancashire going to shuffle their bowlers around - Kabir Ali taking over from spinner Lilley.
    5/16/2014 5:38:30 PM
  • Nasser praises a subtle change from Anderson:
    [nasserhussain]
Good change of length from Anderson. He wins the battle with Hales!

  • Over 3: Nottinghamshire 17/1 (Lumb 4, Taylor 6)
Good stuff from Kabir, until he drops one in too short to Taylor; everyone knows little batsmen love anything banged in back of a length. The four helps Notts after a rather shaky start.

  • Over 4: Nottinghamshire 32/1 (Lumb 6, Taylor 19)
Taylor shows it's not all about big bats and hitting the ball miles. Three boundaries in the Anderson over, two of them coming when he uses his hands to guide deliveries into the gaps. That's more like it for the hosts!
    5/16/2014 5:46:48 PM
  • Nick waxes lyrical in the commentary box after three off-side boundaries for Taylor:
    [nickknight]
Quick, quick hands. Well played little man! Too much width from Anderson! Great timing.

  • Over 5: Nottinghamshire 47/1 (Lumb 13, Taylor 26)
After a rather quiet start, Lumb introduces himself to proceedings with a wonderful flick over the rope at mid-wicket. That's a long hit that way, a bit shorter for Taylor when he goes leg side to finish a good over for the Outlaws.

    5/16/2014 5:51:52 PM
  • [wicket] WICKET! Taylor b Clark 30
After a rather rough opening over, Jordan Clark gets a slice of luck when a full ball comes off Taylor's pads and then onto the stumps. Good little knock from a good little batsman - he and Lumb put on a half-century stand for the second wicket following Hales' departure.

    5/16/2014 5:55:37 PM
  • Over 6: Nottinghamshire 65/2 (Lumb 27, Patel 0)
Lumb had effortlessly eased the second ball from seamer Clark over the rope at extra cover. He takes him down the ground for another maximum - this kind of hitting should perhaps bring him to the attention of the England selectors, right? Oh, hang on. They dropped him already.
    5/16/2014 5:56:28 PM
  • Michael Vaughan on Nottinghamshire's lively start:
Notts have played the powerplay how it should be played. They've whacked it!

Having been 97-5 after losing Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid in successive balls, Yorkshire have done well to get themselves to a competitive-looking total in Leeds.

    5/16/2014 5:57:57 PM
  • Over 7: Nottinghamshire 68/2 (Lumb 29, Patel 1)
Stephen Parry - a man England used in Bangladesh for the ICC World Twenty20 but have now also discarded - concedes just three runs from his first over. Lumb has a serious word with team-mate Samit after some sloppy running between the wickets. I know, it's as if he's never batted with him before...

  • Over 8: Nottinghamshire 79/2 (Lumb 34, Patel 7)
A seventh four in the innings comes at the end of the Lilley over, Patel angling a drive backward of point that just beats a diving fielder in the deep.

  • [wicket] WICKET! Lumb b Croft 39
Lumb gone now, bowled by Steven Croft to end what looked a promising innings. Notts have now had two of their top three get in and then get out.
    5/16/2014 6:08:36 PM
  • Over 10: Nottinghamshire 89/3 (Patel 11, Wessels 0)
And we reach the halfway stage. Nottinghamshire still have plenty of power in their line-up, including an in-form Rikki Wessels, who has now come to the crease at number five in the order.

    5/16/2014 6:10:24 PM
  • Over 11: Nottinghamshire 98/3 (Patel 18, Wessels 3)
Patel finishes the Parry over with a much-needed boundary, cutting the spinner away powerfully enough to beat a diving Anderson out at deep point.
    5/16/2014 6:12:14 PM
  • Over 12: Nottinghamshire 105/3 (Patel 21, Wessels 6)
Croft is bowling Bassetts here - absolutely all sorts. There's some knuckle balls, some off-spinners and some gentle, floaty kind of stuff that looks to be seam up. Whatever it is, it's working pretty well for Lancashire so far

  • Over 13: Nottinghamshire 113/3 (Patel 27, Wessels 7)
It's all White for Wayne, well until Patel cuts away his first delivery high over backward point for a boundary. Still, the all-rounder comes back well in the rest of the over. He's the seventh bowler to be used so far by Lancashire, with only Parry managing more than two overs at the moment.
    5/16/2014 6:18:02 PM
  • Over 14: Nottinghamshire 123/3 (Patel 29, Wessels 13)
Wessels starts the over with a boundary, just as Patel did in the last, but again Lancashire, this time with Croft, recover well after the early blow. 10 from it.
    5/16/2014 6:21:09 PM
  • [davidlloyd] Bumble believes Notts will be looking for around 180...
The Outlaws have played some terrific shots. The groundstaff said 180 before play and Notts are on course for that.

    5/16/2014 6:21:36 PM
  • Over 15: Nottinghamshire 135/3 (Patel 31, Wessels 23)
Wessels produced a superb knock against Northamptonshire in four-day action earlier this week. He's seeing it so well that even a top edge goes all the way for six, though the short boundary to leg helps him out. He's catching up with Patel here. Parry finishes with 0-30 from his four-over spell.
    5/16/2014 6:24:26 PM
  • WICKET! Wessels run out 25 [wicket]
Patel gets lucky when Anderson can't quite cling on running in from deep square leg to try and pouch a tough, tough catch. However, Lancashire still pick up a wicket as the throw from the deep catches Wessels out. He was thinking of coming back for a second, Samit had no such plans...
    5/16/2014 6:28:34 PM
  • Taylor made a quickfire 30 before losing his leg stump

    5/16/2014 6:29:29 PM
  • Over 16: Nottinghamshire 141/4 (Patel 33, Read 1)
Four-day skipper Chris Read now in at no 6. Much depending on these two for the home team. 24 balls remaining in this innings.
    5/16/2014 6:29:57 PM
  • Over 17: Nottinghamshire 150/4 (Patel 42, Read 2)
Pace back on the ball with Kabir the next bowler off the rank - Patel feasts on it, taking the first delivery for four past a mid-on fielder who is up inside the circle. Nine from the over.

    5/16/2014 6:37:37 PM
  • Over 18: Nottinghamshire 160/4 (Patel 43, Read 9)
Read plays from in to out to loft White over the mid-off fielder up saving one to get his first boundary of the night. Patel could've been run out not once but twice in the over, the second attempt allowing Bumble to shout 'BUZZZZZZERRRRRRRS' as they sneak an extra one.

  • Final over coming down with Notts 172-4. Patel (49*) & Read (15*) going well #t20 #nottsvlancs
  • Over 19: Nottinghamshire 172/4 (Patel 49, Read 15)
Read produces another fine off-side shot, slapping Kabir over the top of cover for four as the seamer just couldn't quite find that yorker length. The former England bowler ends up going for 42 from his four - a current England bowler, meanwhile, is not going to send down the last. Instead of Anderson, it's going to be White to continue.
    5/16/2014 6:42:38 PM
  • [50] PATEL LANDMARK
Samit makes it through to the first half-century of the match, a single down the ground taking him to the milestone from 39 deliveries.
