The F365 Transfer Blog - Friday August 1

  • Gazzetta dello Sport say that Liverpool may be in for Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi. The 21-year-old Nigerian international would apparently command a fee in the region of £8million.
    8/1/2014 10:19:15 AM
  • Reus to Liverpool has come in again to 11/8, is it really gathering pace? Just can't see it happening.
    8/1/2014 10:21:24 AM
  • Tuttosport are also reporting that Liverpool are in for Lavezzi again. Could the Di Maria transfer, if confirmed, spark a huge done dealio merry-go-round?
    8/1/2014 10:21:34 AM
  • Lavezzi is versatile, he'd fit in at Liverpool.

He's also a bit more their level at the moment.
    8/1/2014 10:24:04 AM
  • It's just three more day to the end of this saga. If Vidal is named in Juve's Asian tour team then the dream is over.
    8/1/2014 10:24:17 AM
  • Juve would be silly not to name Vidal in their tour if they have not finalised the deal. As soon as they admit to losing the player then the bargaining is over.
    8/1/2014 10:27:04 AM
  • While the papers clearly have no idea what United are doing which is fine, I also think it's fair to say that Ed Woodward has no idea what United are doing, which is less fine.
    8/1/2014 10:27:08 AM
  • The Daily Star also report that "The midfielder's agent jetted into Manchester last night to put the finishing touches on a switch to Old Trafford". Is this at least a new piece of bulls**t? It must be very urgent business if he "jetted" in, rather than using a propeller plane...
    8/1/2014 10:27:57 AM
  • He's having an awful lot of medicals, this Arturo Vidal, isn't he?
    8/1/2014 10:28:18 AM
  • That's an awful lot of coughing.
    8/1/2014 10:29:23 AM
  • The Daily Mail's Manchester man Ian Ladyman repeats that 'Thomas Vermaelen and Mats Hummels are under current consideration'.
    8/1/2014 10:31:33 AM
  • The Daily Mail also claim that Vermaelen and Arsene Wenger will have talks this week. They mention in passing that Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested in the Belgian.
    8/1/2014 10:32:56 AM
  • Fulham have announced the the permanent signing of Bulgarian international Nikolay Bodurov on a three-year deal.
    8/1/2014 10:39:00 AM
  • Why does everyone want Thomas Vermaelen all of a sudden. Don't these people have skysports?
    8/1/2014 10:41:28 AM
  • Chelsea winger Christian Atsu agrees in principle to join Everton on season-long loan. Personal terms being discussed. So says Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror.
    8/1/2014 10:43:50 AM
  • Would love to see United go in for Ward-Prowse, long term midfield candidate, capitalize on the Southampton exodus
    8/1/2014 10:44:05 AM
  • Even as an Arsenal fan I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if Vermaelen left, an accident waiting to happen that seems to still be living off 2007-2008 when he signed and scored a few goals. Get some decent money for him and invest it in someone a little more solid.
    8/1/2014 10:45:48 AM
  • Also, would love to see a little more click-mongering from F365. Possibly along the lines of a "Vidal signs!!!" headline, linking to an article about Vidal learning sign language.
    8/1/2014 10:47:14 AM
  • When does a transfer saga become a fiasco? Fabregas to Utd last season was a saga that became a fiasco, Schneider to Utd probably stayed as a saga. Fellaini was both a saga and a fiasco.
    8/1/2014 10:47:21 AM
  • Atsu would be an immense bit of transfer action for Everton. Clever use of loan market again.
    8/1/2014 10:47:22 AM
  • Not transfer related, but I've just read the mailbox and am reallt confused. Is 'AM' being sarcastic? Really not with it, it is friday after all
    8/1/2014 10:49:41 AM
  • We suspect a heavy dose of sarcasm.
    8/1/2014 10:49:52 AM
  • Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has admitted that Connor Wickham will be sold unless he commits to a new contract. He said in the Sunderland Echo: "For me, Connor’s situation is clear. He needs to sign a new contract or we let him go – we sell him. There is nothing in between."
    8/1/2014 10:54:02 AM
  • While John Aldridge suggests Radamel Falcao for Liverpool, Jan Molby is a tad more sensible - Wilfried Bony is his shout.
    8/1/2014 10:56:09 AM
  • Molby played for Swansea, might just be his lazy shout...
    8/1/2014 10:58:04 AM
  • I can see why Connor Wickham wants to set his sights higher than Sunderland. He has scored all of about 4 goals in about 3 seasons with them.
    8/1/2014 10:58:51 AM
  • Who's going to be a great loan signing for Everton? Christian, Atsu!
    8/1/2014 10:58:59 AM
  • West Ham need another striker. Wickham's going to be available soon. Consider this the start of a rumour
    8/1/2014 10:59:06 AM
  • Reports emerging that the Toon have agreed an £8m fee with QPR for Remy...
    8/1/2014 10:59:34 AM
  • We make Manchester City favourites to sign Frank Lampard on loan! Currently 8/11 after being backed heavily today > http://t.co/s5MTYyh2Uv

  • Are Villa mental going after Scott Sinclair? He did nothing in a very bland season for West Brom for the 20 minutes he was fit. If you couldnt stand out in that team last year, you may as well be a good champo player instead. Also Morgan Amilfitano, 2 minutes of pure beay 88 minutes of nothing. Probably still worth it though for the magic!
    8/1/2014 11:01:35 AM
  • Fair enough we don't know what happened with that medical, but does it not seem like Remy would have been better value for Everton than Lukaku?
    8/1/2014 11:01:45 AM
  • Yes, another midfielder for MCFC because they don't have enough already
    8/1/2014 11:01:48 AM
  • Home grown factor again.
    8/1/2014 11:01:51 AM
  • Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Southampton and Sunderland are interested in signing Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez from Palermo. "The striker’s agent was in England earlier this summer to gauge the level of interest English clubs have for his client and he received positive feedback."
    8/1/2014 11:08:51 AM
  • Manchester City are planning one more summer deal, with only a centre-back required to complete their squad.

Ferran Soriano told the Men In Blazers podcast: “We don’t plan season by season, we plan in cycles. And cycles can be three, four, five seasons. One year ago, we knew the positions we wanted to reinforce in the team and we did it.

“We have a new right-back, we have a holding midfielder, we’ll have a new central defender and that’s it. We don’t need to sign new players for the sake of it."

    Not even Frankie Lampard?
    8/1/2014 11:10:30 AM
  • is Remy's £8m clause only for Champions league teams?
    8/1/2014 11:10:35 AM
  • Apparently. But I suspect that he's made it clear that he doesn't want to be at QPR.
    8/1/2014 11:11:29 AM
  • Clearly Lampard would be Manchester City's "big" summer signing.
    8/1/2014 11:13:32 AM
  • Remy could have been an awesome signing for Liverpool. Could really make the difference for Newcastle this season, just hope we get it done!
    8/1/2014 11:13:52 AM
  • If Remy doesnt want to be at QPR then he shouldnt have signed there. That's why I dont play there.
    8/1/2014 11:14:07 AM
  • Although City chief Soriano doesn't name names, we're all assuming that Man City's transfer business will end with the acquisition of Eliaquim Mangala.
    8/1/2014 11:21:07 AM
  • It's amazing (though perhaps we shouldn't be amazed) how many websites are giving credence to Metro's claim that Arsenal want Morgan Schneiderlin. It really is a circle of bull.
    8/1/2014 11:22:34 AM
  • Quintero and Schneiderlin how many midfielders does Wenger want ? He should be buying a new left back and a utility defender for cover.
    8/1/2014 11:27:08 AM
  • Quick one from the Evening Standard: QPR are facing late competition from Southampton in their bid to sign Norwich midfielder Leroy Fer.
