The F365 Transfer Blog - Thursday July 31

  • is Douglas Costa really that good? I remember United were trying to sign him a few years ago... why he went to Shakhtar I don't know... must've been for money
    7/31/2014 9:34:45 AM
  • that is a tasty bit of frenchy news
    7/31/2014 9:35:10 AM
  • It's going to be very hard to get players out of Donetsk... their chairman is not just staggeringly wealthy but closely connected to Ukrainian/Russian politics - what could be seen as an exodus from Donetsk will have very far reaching implications. It could very well be in his best interests to keep unhappy players rather than sell them
    7/31/2014 9:35:12 AM
  • Shatner gasping for a role as 365's Political Football editor.
    7/31/2014 9:36:42 AM
  • So, to re-iterate, there are reports in Chile - faithfully reported by the Metro - that Arturo/Gore Vidal has passed a Manchester United medical.
    7/31/2014 9:40:22 AM
  • It's probably bollocks.
    7/31/2014 9:40:28 AM
  • Inter are reported to have now reached agreement with Southampton for the initial loan signing of Dani Osvaldo.
    7/31/2014 9:43:43 AM
  • "It's probably bollocks." - that's the spirit
    7/31/2014 9:44:51 AM
  • Osvaldo was meant to be the 'wacky' Balotelli replacement.

    I'll miss his pirate face...
    7/31/2014 9:44:57 AM
  • If Osvaldo is moving to Inter does that pave the way for Atletico to go after the Wee Pea?
    7/31/2014 9:45:01 AM
  • According 'Mirror', Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund could have agree to a deal for Marco Reus. - MARCA (make what you will out of that broken English)
    7/31/2014 9:45:33 AM
  • €7m option to buy on that Dani Osvaldo deal according to Gazzetta dello Sport
    7/31/2014 9:45:36 AM
  • It is not bollocks! It's all true! They wouldn't lie to us
    7/31/2014 9:45:48 AM
  • Don't tease me with Vidal's medical now, I'm about to go 4 days away from phone signal. I can't take this tension! (it's probably bollocks though)
    7/31/2014 9:46:50 AM
  • Great read on Liverpool's defensive frailties by Stanger. Totally agree that we need a midfield destroyer, De Jong would be perfect, Lucas has totally lost any pace he had since his injuries and may now be better suited to the likes of Serie A of Ligue 1.
    7/31/2014 9:47:48 AM
  • It may well be bollocks, but given the ongoing reports, it's clear that SOMEONE wants the Vidal deal to happen and, since they're in Chile, it's likely that it's Vidal who wants it to happen. Which is positive, in its own way. There's always a price that is sufficient for a club to sell so, if Vidal wants to go (a big if, but not unreasonable), then it's a question of whether Man Utd want to pay the amount necessary.
    7/31/2014 9:47:53 AM
  • From the Gossip column regarding Khedira - "To be honest, this doesn't seem to make a great deal of sense to us. If wages were always the issue, then how does Real's willingness to sell change anything?" Well if Arsenal can get him on the cheap they will be able to pay him more wages. The same way free transferred players often get better wage packets because there is no transfer fee.
    7/31/2014 9:48:29 AM
  • According to the Daily Mirror, Leeds owner Massimo Cellino is flying in on Friday for talks with Nile Ranger. Trouble attracts trouble.
    7/31/2014 9:52:04 AM
  • One line from the gossip we haven't really discussed: The Daily Mirror claim Southampton are close to completing a double swoop for Argentina World Cup star Marcos Rojo and Inter's Saphir Taide
    7/31/2014 9:53:53 AM
  • Nottingham Forest striker Daris Henderson has agreed a deal to join Leyton Orient and is set to sign later today. That might be a done dealio right there.
    7/31/2014 10:01:16 AM
  • Ha. Here's what Iago Aspas says about Alberto Moreno possibly joining Liverpool: “Alberto Moreno would never feel like he does in Sevilla at Liverpool. Now that I belong to Sevilla, I prefer he stays here.”
    7/31/2014 10:09:22 AM
  • Iago "the corner" Aspas strikes again.
    7/31/2014 10:12:08 AM
  • I wonder if the people of Sevilla will feel the same way about Aspas after he takes his first corner
    7/31/2014 10:12:11 AM
  • Another Blackpool signing: Costa Rican international Jose Miguel Cubero twitter.com
    7/31/2014 10:12:26 AM
  • According to reports in Spain, Atletico Madrid are planning an audacious TRIPLE swoop for Arsenal's Santi Cazorla, Chelsea's Fernando Torres and Man Utd's Chicharito, described as a 'vertical' player by Diego Simeone yesterday.
    7/31/2014 10:14:02 AM
  • I'm sure we'd only sell Santi, if we had something special like Reus lined up. Makes no sense otherwise.
    7/31/2014 10:15:31 AM
  • I hate Iago Aspas - he looks like a promising youngster until you realise he's just a crap 27 yr old, like me.
    7/31/2014 10:15:35 AM
  • Thank you Ali Tweedale, just when I thought I had curbed my desperation to have Reus at Liverpool. I now find myself clinging onto this near-impossible dream even more.
    7/31/2014 10:15:42 AM
  • Jose Mourinho is suggesting - again - that his squad is now complete.

“We are so happy with the squad we have," he said.

“We feel that the correct squad is exactly this type of squad we have, with people like Didier and John Terry, but at the same time people like (Andreas) Christensen and (Nathan) Ake.

“We have the squad we want and, I repeat, the club was fantastic in the way they worked so hard and so fast to get Diego, Filipe and Fabregas.”
    7/31/2014 10:16:39 AM
  • I wouldn't be sorry to see Santi go, oddly enough. A younger replacement would be excellent. Makes the Cesc decision seem even more obscure, though.
    7/31/2014 10:16:52 AM
  • Personally, I'd be very disappointed if Santi left. He still has a lot to give for us.
    7/31/2014 10:19:21 AM
  • Marcos Rojo deal is close and would (will) be a great signings. Not so sure on Saphir Taide. In any case, two signings would be very welcome!
    7/31/2014 10:19:23 AM
  • Methinks the Jose doth protest too much.
    7/31/2014 10:19:34 AM
  • Gazzetta dello Sport are also regurgitating the Gore Vidal news, reporting a €60m transfer fee with Vidal's wages at €13m per year.
    7/31/2014 10:21:04 AM
  • Lots of talk on twittersphere about how arsenal had a deal for Reus set up for the summer and depending on what you read, didn't happen because of his injury or more likely Reus turned arsenal down.
    7/31/2014 10:21:13 AM
  • I believe Sahin will tell Reus something similar to what Aspas has said to Moreno. Doesn't look good for Liverpool.
    7/31/2014 10:21:19 AM
  • The twitter talk on reus is that he turned us down thinking he'd move to Barcelona, but they went for bitey gerbil instead. You never know what could happen I guess.
    7/31/2014 10:24:28 AM
  • Well if geography has anything to do with it, which it does according to BR, we know where Reus will end up... Madrid
    7/31/2014 10:26:42 AM
  • Here's what Newcastle boss Alan Pardew said last night about Loic Remy: "I am surprised about what’s happened with Loic because I thought he was signing for Liverpool and that door was slammed shut. I didn’t expect that, and we certainly had no problem with Loic during his time with us. So we shall monitor it as we go along."
    7/31/2014 10:31:39 AM
  • Surely if Reus' dream is to join Barcelona or Real Madrid, then his best bet is to have one stand out season at LFC.
    7/31/2014 10:32:20 AM
  • Can you imagine how this blog would implode if Reus AND Vidal deals actually were real?
    7/31/2014 10:32:49 AM
  • Wasn't the talk of Reus to MUFC, then thinking he was joining Barca until Suarez?
Seems MUFC have been retrospectively replaced with Arsenal today.
    7/31/2014 10:32:53 AM
  • Liverpool must have a chance at signing someone really good for us to have pulled out of the Remy deal because doesn't look like it was his medical that went wrong. Probably not Reus though, who knows, it worries me that at the moment we are linked with nobody.
    7/31/2014 10:33:29 AM
  • C'mon Done Dealios.... Very rare of late... We need a few tasty ones today
