The F365 Transfer Blog - Thursday July 31

  • Tastier than Darius Henderson to Leyton Orient? (not that it's quite done yet)
    7/31/2014 10:36:55 AM
  • Winty jumped on the blog yesterday and the world went mental with dealio's. I secretly blame her for Lukaku leaving
    7/31/2014 10:37:01 AM
  • Winty's been here for hours and absolutely nothing is happening.
    7/31/2014 10:37:15 AM
  • In case you missed it earlier, Lazio are reportedly targeting Ron Vlaar. That's all we've got.
    7/31/2014 10:38:39 AM
  • It's almost like the blog has no bearing on transfers. That doesn't seem right.
    7/31/2014 10:38:48 AM
  • Really surprised that Utd haven't gone for Vlaar over Vermaelen.
    7/31/2014 10:42:06 AM
  • Villa will unravel without Vlaar. His transfer value is the price of remaining
    in the league.
    7/31/2014 10:42:14 AM
  • Even though I think Liverpool need new signings at LB and RB more than anything, I'd love it, LOVE IT, if we signed someone of Reus' ilk.
    7/31/2014 10:42:35 AM
  • Tom Heaton has signed a new 3 year deal at Burnley - sort of renewed-contract-done-dealio
    7/31/2014 10:42:38 AM
  • Reports in Italy have it that Taider is refusing to move to Southampton. Could be replaced in the deal for Osvaldo with Ezequiel Schelotto though, who is apparently ok with going there.
    7/31/2014 10:42:57 AM
  • vlaar's reputation has skyrocketed due to the world cup performances. in a system with 3 CBs. he simply didn't look that good, ever, in the PL.
    7/31/2014 10:43:25 AM
  • Utd need to do...something...anything even if it's just selling Anderson. I just hope we don't get caught with the same tunnel-vision as last year where we focussed on Thiago and then Fabregas before realising the window was shutting and settling for Fellaini. Can't we just settle for McCarthy earlier this year and move onto getting in a couple of centre-halves?
    7/31/2014 10:45:34 AM
  • Marca's "Dream Team" of Unemployed Players is quite interesting, in the sense that it's interesting they think anyone would dream about wanting Bendtner up front

    7/31/2014 10:45:53 AM
  • Where's Matty Etherington in that XI?
    7/31/2014 10:46:26 AM
  • If Jovanovic is available Liverpool can stop their search for a Suarez replacement
    7/31/2014 10:49:13 AM
  • That's just Harry's QPR
    transfer targets isn't it?
    7/31/2014 10:49:36 AM
  • After the Remy business and looking at Ali Tweedale's suggestions, Liverpool might have a serious problem if they don't get a competent striker in, Sturridge wont stay fit all season, Lamber is a plan B option, Rues (yea right that's gonna happen), seems to me only option is Bony and you know Swansea are gonna bend us over and lube us up on that deal
    7/31/2014 10:49:49 AM
  • Here's what Brendan Rodgers said about possible new signings after last night's shoot-out win over Man City: "We still have some positions that we want to fill within the squad so that by the end of August we have a strong group of players to go forward with. We've still got some business to do.

"We've brought in specific players for specific roles, players that have the profile of how we work.

"A lot of the players that have come in, the transition has been very smooth and that should make the adjustment that bit easier.

"Of course some of them are young and coming to a different country, like Emre Can. That will take a little bit of time. The players are transitioning very well, though it will take a little bit of time."
    7/31/2014 10:52:25 AM
  • I really want Everton to sign Remy. Would be great to see him do well for them after Liverpool turned him down.
    7/31/2014 10:52:36 AM
  • Thats not so much a "dream team" and more a "oh that guy is still playing?" with Bendtner and Valdes XI.
    7/31/2014 10:52:56 AM
  • Yet again Rodgers speaks without saying anything. Do other fans feel their clubs leave them in dark over everything and by time they do tell you something it is old news?
    7/31/2014 10:54:21 AM
  • Tuttosport are claiming that Barcelona are refusing to pay Fiorentina's asking price for Cuadrado, and that they "may have encouraged the player to rebel in an effort to lower his cost" so they can sign him for less next year. Tuttosport claim this has put United and Bayern ahead, as they are both willing to pay the money now.
    7/31/2014 10:57:38 AM
  • The way that BR talks makes me gag a little
    7/31/2014 10:58:08 AM
  • Despite reports that he has passed a Man United medical, Juventus official Beppe Marotta has reiterated the club’s stance that Arturo Vidal will remain with the Bianconeri next term.

Speaking before the friendly against Cesena, he told Sky Italia: "Vidal? He feels good with us, and we are happy to have him here.

“We have already renewed his deal, I don't think there will be problems."
    7/31/2014 11:00:25 AM
  • He 'feels good'? Not quite 'calm', is it?
    7/31/2014 11:00:43 AM
  • Why is Beppe Marotta such a killjoy?
    7/31/2014 11:01:39 AM
  • What is Vidal's birthday cake situation?
    7/31/2014 11:01:43 AM
  • Here we go...Louis van Gaal has told Manchester United that he is prepared to wait until January to sign Kevin Strootman rather than bring in a weaker central midfielder this summer, Goal understands.
    7/31/2014 11:03:57 AM
  • 'Arturo Vidal has been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford, but while Van Gaal has declared his admiration for the Juventus star, club officials have been keen to play down any prospect of signing him this summer.'
    7/31/2014 11:04:36 AM
  • It looks like it's Tom Cleverley then...
    7/31/2014 11:04:51 AM
  • Ah, so he's probably said nothing of the sort, if Goal understands it.
    7/31/2014 11:04:59 AM
  • Thats right, everyone keep looking at Vidal while Arsenal buy Pogba...
    7/31/2014 11:05:10 AM
  • though.. I'm holding out for hope/Vidal
    7/31/2014 11:06:41 AM
  • understands nothing
    7/31/2014 11:06:56 AM
  • Can you please stop posting comments about Arsenal/Pogba, it makes my tummy feel funny.
    7/31/2014 11:07:48 AM
  • Strootman seems more realistic in January, I can imagine him actually wanting to play for LVG and United. I get a gold digging vibe from Vidal... just playing for the cash, amazing player nonetheless
    7/31/2014 11:09:28 AM
  • That Strootman story makes no sense at all. Why would any manager put off buying a fit midfielder who could be available now, in favour of buying a player who has missed almost 9 months of football with injury, and whose club are insistent on keeping him? Logic for the insane.
    7/31/2014 11:09:37 AM
  • So wait til half the season is over to see if Strootman has come back well from injury in January....... That sounds like fabulous tactics and hopefully BS from
    7/31/2014 11:10:32 AM
  • Jose Mourinho has said that his squad is now complete but ESPN are having none of it - they claim that Edinson Cavani is a target. Can't see it ourselves.
    7/31/2014 11:12:04 AM
  • Winty I feel like you're the Van Gaal of the Blog Moderators, a strict no nonsense disciplinarian who commands respect. Stanger is the Jose figure, very much in command but prone to bouts of silliness (see the BT Sport ad for Jose, Storey-bulling for Stanger). Storey is Pards, larking about with bloggers who you suspect don't respect him, but he does hide an air of intelligence behind the buffoonery
    7/31/2014 11:12:20 AM
  • Sadly with no CL this season we going to have to splash the cash to persuade big names to sign. We'll accept gold diggers if they are world class.
    7/31/2014 11:12:40 AM
  • West Ham are preparing a bid for Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang, according to reports in Italy.
    7/31/2014 11:13:25 AM
  • Marca are linking André Schürrle with a move to Atletico Madrid. Wouldn't blame him for fancying a change.
    7/31/2014 11:16:58 AM
  • We might see some actual transfer action next week, once they return from USA. I suspect Daley Blind and Thomas Vermaelen bids might go in, and maybe a bid for Carvalho, depending on how the midfielders play in the remaining friendlies. I just can't believe the Strootman or Vidal rumours - they just don't seem realistic.
    7/31/2014 11:17:15 AM
  • Liverpool back in for Moreno, according to the Mirror, for the 12th time this summer. This lad better be worth my googling !
