The F365 Transfer Blog - Tuesday July 15

  • The thought that niggling at me is that the Vidal signing makes no tactical sense for someone as obsessed with tactics and team dynamics as Van Gaal. I would imagine him beefing up on the defence and wings as a priority, because of which the Vidal price might have become an issue. Given the pattern here (Kroos and Vidal interest being kiboshed but Herrera bought), together with his public comment on making Man Utd more like the Dutch team and the lack of players linked with transfers out of the club, I can see him focusing on a 5-3-2 or a 4-2-3-1, in which case both Vidal and Kroos would be luxuries. I expect there's more to play on the Di Maria/ Reus/ Cuadrado fronts.
