  • Lots and lots
    7/22/2014 2:19:09 PM
  • More transfer gossip from Switzerland if you're interested. Jose Mourinho has decided that Romelu Lukaku can't fit into his Chelsea system and demanded 28m francs for him. In addition, Monaco have contacted Galatasaray regarding a deal for Wesley Sneidjer, a fee of 34m france is claimed.
    7/22/2014 2:19:31 PM
  • We'll level with you, we prefer you saying gossip than biting about where your team will finish.
    7/22/2014 2:19:54 PM
  • Geeky tip. If you are using a mouse rather than laptop if you click the link by clicking in the scrolling roller on the mouse then it opens it in a new tab, boom!
    7/22/2014 2:19:58 PM
  • can we put every transfer in swiss francs, I think its best a very neutral currency
    7/22/2014 2:20:32 PM
  • The thought of the blog ending makes me sad.... please dont mention it again
    7/22/2014 2:20:35 PM
  • We'll be back in January. And without this all day we can write stuff too!
    7/22/2014 2:20:51 PM
  • Er..what?

Lionel Messi was allegedly interested in a shock transfer to Arsenal before he signed a new contract with Barcelona just two months ago.

The Argentine superstar eventually penned his extension with Barca in May having previously rejected fresh terms, following a row over bonus payments.

And Spanish newspaper Vozpopuli, who broke the news of Arsenal’s deal for Alexis Sanchez, says Messi was seriously considering a switch to the Emirates before sorting out an arrangement to stay at the Nou Camp.

The paper claims that Messi had spoken to close friend Cesc Fabregas about his time at Arsenal, and also sounded out other acquaintances about a switch to London.

He had apparently already instructed his agent to discuss with the Gunners whether a transfer could realistically take place, before Barca quickly moved to sort out his future.

Messi had an opportunity to move to Arsenal before joining Barcelona’s academy as a kid, and he is said to be a huge admirer of Arsene Wenger and his methods.

    Maybe one day…

  • Yeah we read this too and decided to ignore.
    7/22/2014 2:21:05 PM
  • The Rodriguez deal also annoys me as to how swiftly it was done. While United fans are sat here hoping against hope that Vidal might join, Madrid have already signed Kroos and Rodriguez. Darn it, Woodward!
    7/22/2014 2:21:08 PM
  • Saving the world one click at a time there Loco.
    7/22/2014 2:21:12 PM
  • Are Brazil, Dunga and Scolari involved in the most high profile job share ever witnessed. Brazil FA short on inspiration
    7/22/2014 2:21:46 PM
  • That's thinking inside the box for you.
    7/22/2014 2:21:57 PM
  • I know Wenger said no more strikers, but wouldn’t Lukaku make sense? Although... that mouthy little Portuguese man probably wouldn’t sell to Arsenal.
    7/22/2014 2:22:53 PM
  • I'd love that deal, but if Chelsea wouldn't sell Ba to Arsenal, they won't sell Lukaku.
    7/22/2014 2:23:27 PM
  • If Scotland votes for independence... does Scottish players become foreigners? Would Forster become a "foreign" player for Celtic?
    7/22/2014 2:23:37 PM
  • Interesting qu, actually.
    7/22/2014 2:23:48 PM
  • Will Martin Samuels be running a piece tomorrow on how nasty foreigners like Ben Davis are stunting the development of plucky English players like Danny Rose?
    7/22/2014 2:23:54 PM
  • I would imagine he would be classed as a home player due to residency
    7/22/2014 2:24:58 PM
  • Good news every prem club now looking for a left back with prem and champions league experience. The great, the mighty and thee all powerful Andre Santos is a free agent again if anyone is interested.
    7/22/2014 2:26:21 PM
  • I think even Samuels realises there is no way anyone would swallow Rose being ruined by anything, it's all been downhill since his goal in the NLD. At least he's doing better than Bentley.
    7/22/2014 2:26:28 PM
  • Alex Ferguson will pip both Wenger and Mourinho as the most successful foreign Premier League manager ever.
    7/22/2014 2:26:37 PM
  • People from Republic of Ireland can technically still have British passports. I have both so maybe, no.
    7/22/2014 2:26:41 PM
  • Finally got my avatar after hours of trying. Take that work! Now back to to actually doing some work. And by work I mean reading the blog.
    7/22/2014 2:28:59 PM
  • I'm starting it. Andros Townsend to Monaco.
    7/22/2014 2:29:04 PM
  • Ishmael Miller is currently on trial with Blackpool. I'm not quite sure why he needs a trial though, surely "has boots, will play" is sufficient at this point; they still need one player per day to have a full squad by the first match.
    7/22/2014 2:30:29 PM
  • 7/22/2014 2:31:52 PM
  • Anyone else thinking about sending their CV to Blackpool?
    7/22/2014 2:31:57 PM
  • Blackpool should do an open-trial of youngsters booted out of academies of the Premier League... would make a good TV show that.
    7/22/2014 2:31:59 PM
  • 7/22/2014 2:32:40 PM
  • Djalminha says Andros Townsend has two left feet, and neither of them are good.
    7/22/2014 2:33:21 PM
  • I read about this guy who basically cold-called his way into teams in leagues across Europe...makes you think, huh?
    7/22/2014 2:34:38 PM
  • Stoke Sentinel reporting that a deal has been agreed to sign Bojan.
    7/22/2014 2:35:22 PM
  • Madness
    7/22/2014 2:35:26 PM
  • Spent all day working, i know, I'm sorry. Would I be right in concluding from first glimpse of the blog that the square root of Eff all interesting (on the transfer front at least) has happened today?
    7/22/2014 2:36:06 PM
  • We've had a lot of fun.
