[sunny] It's sunny and very hot at Flushing Meadows in New York again as Heather Watson receives serve from Sorana Cirstea on Court 13.
8/26/2014 3:10:46 PM
WATSON *0-1 CIRSTEA: Watson is ranked 46 in the world, while her opponent is down at No 80 after suffering 12 first-round losses this season. The Romanian opens up with a hold to 15.
8/26/2014 3:12:21 PM
[break] WATSON 1-3* CIRSTEA: Court 13 is pretty full for this clash with quite a bit of British support for the girl from Guernsey. A couple of errors hands Cirstea a chance to break and Watson double faults at a crucial time. She'll be massively disappointed with that service game!
8/26/2014 3:22:32 PM
WATSON *1-4 CIRSTEA: The pin-up girl from Bucharest Sorana Cirstea is serving superbly at the moment and Watson has no answer to the firepower of the 24-year-old. Another comfortable hold!
8/26/2014 3:25:35 PM
[break] WATSON 1-5* CIRSTEA: British Fed Cup captain Judy Murray is in the stands to watch Watson in action which will encourage the Brit. She is currently being taken to the cleaners by Cirstea, although she lands a delicious whipped double-handed crosscourt backhand for a winner at 15-15. Watson saves two break-point chances, but can't save a third as the Romanian closes in on the opening set.
8/26/2014 3:34:23 PM
[set] WATSON 1-6 *0-0 CIRSTEA: A fifth ace of the match hands Sorana Cirstea the first set, which she completely dominated.
