  • MURRAY *3-1 KUZNETSOV
Amelie Mauresmo seems very happy with the way Murray has come out and attacked his opponent. The Russian hangs on to her serve for the first time today, despite being taken to deuce.
    8/30/2014 5:24:23 PM
  • MURRAY 4-1* KUZNETSOV
Kuznetsov, ranked 96th, has taken his time to make his mark in the senior ranks after winning the junior Wimbledon title in 2009, but has now reached the third round at successive grand slams. He's quick to close down the angles and make Murray hurry from the baseline, resulting in a lob which flies long. The Russian brings up a break point opportunity with a double handed backhand winner down the line, but he misses the target on his favourite forehand side. A kick-serve out side is then netted, so the 27-year-old from Dunblane holds on to his serve, despite some pressure.
    8/30/2014 5:29:35 PM
  • [break] MURRAY *5-1 KUZNETSOV
Louis Armstrong is jam-packed for this Murray match. The eight seed is a real fans favourite in New York. He's an exciting player and he attacks the Kuznetsov serve at the start of this sixth game to move 0-30 ahead. The Russian nets his forehand to hand Murray a double break point. He only needs one chance as his opponent makes another basic error.
    8/30/2014 5:33:11 PM
  • [set] MURRAY 6-1 0-0* KUZNETSOV
Amazing point at 15-15! Murray shows amazing ability to scramble around the back of the court before getting his racket to a volley and making the winner. An unstoppable ace hands him a set point and he takes it in 30 minutes.

A SET UP! Murray takes the opening set 6-1 in 30 minutes

  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 *1-0 KUZNETSOV
Can't really disagree with Marck Petchey's assessment of the first set. Murray came out like he meant business this afternoon. He's bossing his opponent and is hitting the ball flat and true. The Scot hits a stunning pass on his second break point of the game to make the early break. This could be over in a jiffy if the Russian doesn't get his act together pretty soon!

    8/30/2014 5:51:51 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 3-1* KUZNETSOV
Murray has been a picture of calm so far this afternoon in New York. He mixes up his game with some more slices and it's Kuznetsov, who won the junior title at Wimbledon in 2009, who cracks under the pressure.
    8/30/2014 5:57:18 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 *3-2 KUZNETSOV
It's nowhere near as hot as it had been on Monday, with the cloud cover no doubt welcome for Murray, who again has his four-man fan club in residence chanting his name from the top tier. Kuznetsov courageously holds on to his serve after being taken to deuce again. He's still a break down in this second set.
