  • PICTURE OF CALM: Murray is a set and a break up in the second set

    8/30/2014 6:02:12 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 4-2* KUZNETSOV
Brilliant body serve by Murray, who goes on to hold to love. Effortless tennis from the British No 1 out on Louis Armstrong.
    8/30/2014 6:05:06 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 *4-3 KUZNETSOV
The Russian has an easy service game for almost the first time in the match. It's his turn to hold to love!
    8/30/2014 6:07:00 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 4-4* KUZNETSOV
Kuznetsov, ranked 96th, brings up a double break point opportunity on the Murray serve. HawkEye goes in the Scot's favour on the first and he flies through the air to smash a forehand up the line to save the second. The 23-year-old quickly earns a third break point chance and a costly double fault from Murray hands him the game. We're level!
    8/30/2014 6:13:34 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 *4-5 KUZNETSOV
The two-time grand slam champion responds on Kuznetsov's next service game by moving 0-30 up, but the Russian finds the angle down the line to make a sensational winner. He then makes another unbelievable winner on the stretch to make it 30-30. He holds with a couple of big first serves and the Scot will come out and serve to stay in the second set.
    8/30/2014 6:16:57 PM

  • 8/30/2014 6:17:23 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 5-5* KUZNETSOV
Big game from Murray who responds with a love hold. Might we be heading into a tiebreaker!
    8/30/2014 6:19:24 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 *6-5 KUZNETSOV
Murray makes a timely break on the Kuznetsov service game. He dismisses the Russian's first serve at 40-15 with a fierce crosscourt forehand winner out wide. Just brilliant!
    8/30/2014 6:22:44 PM
  • [set] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 0-0* KUZNETSOV
A 204 km/h ace hands Murray two set points and he gives it the big 'c'mon' as his first serve is hit long by his opponent.
    8/30/2014 6:26:20 PM

  • 8/30/2014 6:26:46 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 *0-1 KUZNETSOV
Murray is playing imaginative and floorless tennis on Louis Armstrong. The eighth seed is playing the kind of tennis which made him a two-time grand slam champion. No sign of the cramp-induced drama of his first-round win over Robin Haase here. It's been a joy to watch. He turns the screw on the Kuznetsov serve, but the slight figure of the world No 96 saves the break point and holds.

    8/30/2014 6:33:20 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 1-1* KUZNETSOV
The British No 1 holds to 30 on his opening service game of the third set.
    8/30/2014 6:35:29 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 *1-2 KUZNETSOV
Low key start to this set as the Russian holds to 15. Early days in this set and it seems the 27-year-old former US Open and Wimbledon champion is taking a breather.
    8/30/2014 6:37:59 PM
  • DJOKO TOO GOOD
[game-set-match] World No 1 Novak Djokovic moves into a 8-1 head-to-head lead against Sam Querrey with a comfortable straight-sets, 6-3 6-2 6-2 victory on Ashe. He reaches the last-16 at Flushing Meadows for the eighth straight year and 22nd consecutive grand slam tournament since a third-round exit at the French Open in 2008.

THREE AND EASY: Djokovic dispatches Querrey in straight-sets

    8/30/2014 6:42:47 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 1-3* KUZNETSOV
Murray struggles on serve with a couple of double-faults and he gifts the Russian a crucial break by netting a forehand.
    8/30/2014 6:45:21 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 *1-4 KUZNETSOV
The Scot was powering the ball into the corners off both his backhand and forehand and was keen to come forward and attack the net. He's not doing that in this third set and falls further behind.
    8/30/2014 6:47:03 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 2-4* KUZNETSOV
The 27-year-old has developed a bad habit this season of losing leads. He won't want this to go to five because the Russian is a shot maker who hits the ball big and is more than capable of going all the way as he's already shown when he beat Fernando Verdasco in the previous round. Murray hangs on to his serve to 30 and stays just one break down.
    8/30/2014 6:51:06 PM
  • [stats] Murray has hit 34 winners to Kuznetsov's 24.
    8/30/2014 6:51:50 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 *3-4 KUZNETSOV
The British No 1 senses an opportunity at 0-40 as he picks up his game and a forehand error from the young Russian hands him the all-important break back. Great response from the Scot!
    8/30/2014 6:53:48 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-4* KUZNETSOV
Great court coverage from Murray who picks up his game after a slight dip earlier in this third set to hold to 15 and level this up.
    8/30/2014 6:57:05 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 *4-5 KUZNETSOV
Tremendous depth on the Murray slice has Kuznetsov bemused. The former Wimbledon junior champion catches the net cord and the ball bounces the wrong side of the line for him to hand Murray a break point, but he saves it with a simple forehand winner. The British No 1 quickly earns a second break point, and this time the net cord goes the way of the Russian. Murray challenges the call on the left sideline. The ball was indeed out and he nets to allow Kuznetsov to hang on to his serve.
    8/30/2014 7:01:43 PM
  • [set] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 0-0* KUZNETSOV
Kuznetsov, ranked 96th, has a double set point after a couple of basic errors from Murray. And a double fault from the Brit hands him the set!

  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 1-1* KUZNETSOV
Murray holds to 30 in the second game of the fourth set. Early signs are that the Scot is slowly finding his rhythm after a dip in form in that third.
    8/30/2014 7:18:56 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 *2-1 KUZNETSOV
Memories of Murray's third-set calamity against Robin Haase in round one came flooding back during that third set, but the eighth seed has a break point chance on the Kuznetsov serve in the third game of this fourth set and he takes it after soaking up the pressure from the back of the court and then forces the error out of his opponent.
    8/30/2014 7:22:02 PM
  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 3-1* KUZNETSOV
Murray used excellent variety with the slice and took all the pace out of the ball to force the Russian into having to apply his own power, which he didn't like to do. The Scot fights back from 0-30 to consolidate his break. He plays one of his best points at 40-30, stretching everything at the net to make the volley.
    8/30/2014 7:27:07 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 *4-1 KUZNETSOV
World No 96 Kuznetsov is struggling on serve again and Murray has two more break point chances. He saves the first with a big serve and the second thanks to a stunning half volley, but then serves up back-to-back double faults to surely put this match to bed.

    8/30/2014 7:32:09 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 4-2* KUZNETSOV
The Russian keeps his hopes alive by breaking Murray. The British No 1 nets a straightforward forehand at 30-40.
    8/30/2014 7:35:25 PM
  • [break] MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 *5-2 KUZNETSOV
Murray goes crosscourt with a fabulous forehand and soon forces an error out of Kuznetsov to hand him a chance of the double-break advantage, which he does do by outlasting his opponent from the back of the court.

  • MURRAY 6-1 7-5 4-6 6-2 KUZNETSOV

  • CROFT HAPPY
Sky Sports analyst Annabel Croft gives her opinion on Andy Murray's four-set win against Andrey Kuznetsov ...

He's hitting the ball with such authority and he looks to be playing pretty aggressively. Sometimes you watch that forehand and it's like a hammer blow, like it's got weights attached to the ball when he hits it. There were some fluctuations in his form and some energy losses, but when he got pushed, he found another level.

  • MURRAY ASSESSMENT
Andy Murray gives his assessment to Sky Sports after beating Andrey Kuznetsov to reach the fourth-round of the US Open ....

I wanted to try and get off to a good start obviously.
I watched a little bit of his game against (Fernando) Verdasco, so I knew I could be a little bit aggressive on the second serve return," said the 27-year-old. "I managed to put him on the back foot at the beginning of the match, but a little bit sloppy in the third set. He capitalised on the that, but I was better in the fourth set. It was a good match for me to come through. He's a tricky player and he's got some big weapons from the back of the court. I managed to come through a fairly lengthy match, so I've got a decent amount of tennis left in my legs."

  • KRUNIC HITS TOTAL LIMITS
Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic added her name to a list of anonymous figures to emerge from the Flushing Meadows shadows and step into the US Open spotlight with a shock 6-4 6-4 win over Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.

When you are playing the smaller tournaments all the time, I honestly didn't know what to expect from myself at all," said Krunic. "I don't know my limits. Today I think I pushed myself to my total limits. Even I know that it was not Petra's best day and she missed a lot. I don't know if I made her miss with my game or not. But still if she would have played her best tennis I don't think the outcome would be the same. I tried to keep the tactics that I have been given. Yeah, that was my only chance. Honestly, I didn't expect it at all, for sure."

My opponent today was spectacular. It was really a good match and it just shows how far Varvara has come, so I'm really proud of her," Williams said.
