Tsonga, who has won two of their three previous meetings, holds to 15 to level this up at the business end of the set.
    9/1/2014 8:10:00 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 6-5* TSONGA
Tsonga scrambles from the back of the court to keep the point alive, but then Murray goes crosscourt for the winner. At 30-15, the net cord goes the way of the Frenchman. The British No 1 is at full stretch to lay his strings on the crosscourt backhand. A wild forehand is long, so Murray holds. He's a relieved man!

    9/1/2014 8:17:02 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 *0-0 TSONGA
[set] Murray looks to put Tsonga under pressure in this crucial service game for the ninth seed from France. He fires his forehand long - 15-30, but a first serve at 128 mph out wide is too powerful for Murray. The Toronto Masters champion makes the smash, despite some amazing scrambling from his opponent. Murray makes an amazing double handed backhand return winner with the ball dipping in at the last. A stunning backhand from Tsonga hands him the advantage, but back comes the Scot with another flashing forehand winner. He earns a set point after an error from his opponent and another error gifts Murray a two sets to love lead.

Tsonga has cracked at 3 big moments to lose serve each time. If you can't handle the big points you're nothing in this game #USOpen

    ONE SET AWAY ...

Murray closes in on a repeat of the 2012 final against Novak Djokovic

Murray's only loss from 2 sets up which @markpetchey70 referred to came v @nalbandiandavid at Wimbledon in 2005 #USOpen #SkyTennis
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 0-1* TSONGA
[break] Tsonga quickly earns a break point chance after a second double fault of the match from Murray and he is unable to keep the Frenchman at bay.
    9/1/2014 8:31:24 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 *0-2 TSONGA
Murray certainly looks more comfortable back on Arthur Ashe Stadium and away from Louis Armstrong, where he dropped sets against both Robin Haase and Andrey Kuznetsov. He'll need to break the Tsonga serve for the fourth time today if he wants to win this in straight sets though. Tsonga holds serve comfortably.

    FEELING THE PAIN...

Tsonga is fighting hard after losing the opening two sets to Murray

    9/1/2014 8:34:53 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 1-2* TSONGA
Tsonga crashes a Murray second serve at 91 mph away for a winner to earn another break point. Despite two net cords, Murray saves it and then saves a second break point. Murray saves a third break point with an ace down the T. He comes through a tough game with a searing forehand winner out wide.
    9/1/2014 8:42:35 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 *2-2 TSONGA
[break] Murray slices and dices from the back of the court before making a special crosscourt backhand flick to bring up three break back points. He only needs one of them as Tsonga drills his backhand into the tramlines.

    9/1/2014 8:46:34 PM

Murray wins three games in a row in the third set to move ahead

    9/1/2014 8:50:04 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 *3-3 TSONGA
Murray produces a very special forehand winner off a Tsonga smash - the shot of the match! The Frenchman then double faults to gift the Scot a 0-30 lead, but he responds with a fierce forehand winner of his own. He claws his way back into the game with some big serves. We're level in this third set!
    9/1/2014 8:52:42 PM
    9/1/2014 8:53:11 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 4-3* TSONGA
The 2012 US Open winner shows his creative side with a sizzling sliced drop shot for the love hold. The duly deserved a round of applause from the Arthur Ashe crowd.
    9/1/2014 8:54:38 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 *4-4 TSONGA
Ninth-seeded Tsonga won the last encounter - a three-set quarter-final en route to the title in Toronto. The grand slam's are very different, especially when it comes to five sets. He levels up again and now it's business time in the third set!
    9/1/2014 8:59:24 PM
    MURRAY 7-5 7-5 5-4* TSONGA
The British No 1 holds to 15 which means Tsonga must come out and serve to stay in the match.
