    prediction come true?

    4/13/2014 12:58:18 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 1-0 MAN CITY
Not the most auspicious start for Garcia, who flies through the back of Henderson and is in the book immediately. No doubt Brendan Rodgers will be telling his pacy players to run at the substitute at every opportunity now...
    4/13/2014 12:59:51 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 0-1 ABERDEEN
Pawlett breaks into the Saints penalty area and has a pop at goal but he slices his shot and it goes out for a throw. Oops.

    4/13/2014 1:01:30 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 1-0 MAN CITY
City enjoying their first decent spell of the game as Silva tries to tease passes to his team-mates on the edge of the Liverpool box. The move breaks down, though, and Liverpool are up the pitch like lightning to win a corner
    4/13/2014 1:03:35 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! ST JOHNSTONE 1-1 ABERDEEN (May)
Aberdeen fail to clear a corner, the ball comes back into the box and May takes two touches before drilling a low shot across Langfield and into the net.

    4/13/2014 1:03:37 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY (Skrtel)
Liverpool in total control now! Hart's brilliant one-handed stop denies Gerrard a second, but from the second corner Skrtel is left in a yard of space at the near post to glance Gerrard's inswinger over the goalkeeper and inside the far upright. Long way back for City now, and it's bedlam inside Anfield
    4/13/2014 1:03:52 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
Worryingly for City, they appear most vulnerable when they're on the attack. Again Liverpool break after nicking the ball on the edge of their own box, and only desperate defending prevents Sturridge's cut-back reaching Sterling. This time City do deal with the corner, but Liverpool have their visitors right where they want them here
    4/13/2014 1:07:54 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
City need something to get hold of here, and a loose pass in midfield threatens to provide it as Silva picks up possession and sends Dzeko scampering goalwards. The trigger's about to be pulled when Gerrard arrives from the blue yonder to get in a block and deny Dzeko a shot on goal. Great covering
    4/13/2014 1:09:54 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 1-1 ABERDEEN
[missed-chance]Flood picks out Robson with his cross from the right but Robson can only direct a  rather tame header straight at Mannus. Great chance for Aberdeen to regain the lead.
    4/13/2014 1:10:42 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY PENALTY SHOUT!
Hmm....City might well feel a little hard done by here. Sakho streaks across his own box to slide in on Dzeko and gets nowhere near the ball. Dzeko has no option but to tumble over the prone defender, but ref Clattenburg sees nothing amiss and awards a goal-kick. One for Dermot Gallagher tomorrow morning...
    4/13/2014 1:11:41 PM

  • 4/13/2014 1:12:04 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
This time Dzeko does get the decision as he's cut down by Coutinho about 25 yards from the home goal. How City would love Toure on the pitch now...As it is Silva takes responsibility only to hit the shins of a sturdy wall. Poor
    4/13/2014 1:15:11 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 1-1 ABERDEEN
CHANCE! Aberdeen spurn another great chance, with Robson turning provider this time to clip a left-footed cross into the box that McGinn heads past the far post. Will Derek McInnes' side be made to pay for their wastefulness?
    4/13/2014 1:18:23 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
Suarez has actually been pretty quiet since his whirling dervish act in the first 15 minutes but he re-emerges here with a chancy 25-yard snapshot. Never a a threat, but you can't take your eyes off the man
    4/13/2014 1:19:00 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY CHANCE!
Suarez is involved again, dragging Demichelis wide and out of the road as Coutinho seizes on Dzeko's loose control and heads straight for the City goal. The Brazilian lets fly from the edge of the box, but it's a sorry miscue and the visitors escape
    4/13/2014 1:20:23 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 1-1 ABERDEEN
[missed-chance]Maclean knocks the ball down to his strike partner May but he gets right under the ball and lifts it a long, long way over the target.
    4/13/2014 1:22:20 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY CHANCE!
City's quality was always likely to show itself at some stage, and they're so close to halving the deficit here. A brilliant counter attack ends with Sakho deflecting Silva's header behind, and from the corner only an outstanding goal-line clearance from Sterling prevents Kompany's header bouncing up and into a flapping Mignolet's net
    4/13/2014 1:22:49 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY SAVE![save]
This is what Mignolet's all about, though, top-class shot-stopping. Fernandinho gets into the Liverpool box for the first time, and although his volley is half-hit, it still takes smart work from Mignolet to keep it out. Fernandinho takes his frustration out on Suarez seconds later, and he's in the book
    4/13/2014 1:24:39 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 1-1 ABERDEEN
Stevie May is mobbed by his St Johnstone team-mates after scoring the equaliser in the Scottish Cup semi-final

    4/13/2014 1:25:38 PM
  • [half-time]LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
Job half-done for Liverpool, who threatened to blow away City with their pace early on. Goals from Sterling and Skrtel were due reward, although City have come back into it slightly
    4/13/2014 1:26:08 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! ST JOHNSTONE 2-1 ABERDEEN (May)
May pounces again for Saints, receiving the ball back from Maclean before toe-poking past Mannus despite the keeper managing to get a touch on the ball.

    4/13/2014 1:34:06 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 2-1 ABERDEEN
[full-time]THAT'S IT! ST JOHNSTONE ARE IN THE SCOTTISH CUP FINAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THEIR HISTORY! They will play Dundee United in a Tayside derby at Celtic Park on 17 May.
    4/13/2014 1:35:02 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY[kick-off]
As it stands Liverpool are going five points clear at the top and seven ahead of City. Still 45 minutes for that to change, though - here we go...
    4/13/2014 1:40:34 PM
  • ST JOHNSTONE 2-1 ABERDEEN
St Johnstone striker Stevie May, scorer of the Saints' goals that took them through to the cup final, gives his thoughts on the game.

It was a hard-fought win but it made it that much sweeter to come from behind. We are in the final and it's a bit of history for us. A lot of people wrote us off before today and maybe a few more did so at half-time. But the boys were confident in the changing-room and we managed to come out and win the game.

    4/13/2014 1:43:08 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
City make a decent start to the half, but they're so vulnerable to a counter-attack now. Sterling skips into City territory menacingly, but this time there's no end product as he scoops an awful effort 10 yards wide
    4/13/2014 1:44:41 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY SUB![manchestercity]
Pellegrini's clearly not happy with the way things are going, even at this stage. Navas gets the hook, and Milner is on
    4/13/2014 1:46:01 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
Milner's in the thick of it straight away, as e needs to be, and his pass almost gets Fernandinho beyond the Liverpool centre-halves. Skrtel looks beaten but finds an extra six inches on the stretch to nick the ball away
    4/13/2014 1:47:40 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
City are furious as Suarez knocks the ball past Demichelis and apparently hurls himself to the ground under no contact. It looks a pretty clear-cut piece of simulation, and Suarez is already on a yellow card, but despite several City players joining the protest Clattenburg keeps his red card in his pocket. Goes down as a fortunate escape...
    4/13/2014 1:49:52 PM
  • LIVERPOOL 2-0 MAN CITY
Milner is making a difference - sadly for City he runs the ball out of play before crossing for Silva to poke the ball past Mignolet. Easy decision to disallow the goal
    4/13/2014 1:51:58 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! LIVERPOOL 2-1 MAN CITY (Silva)
It's been coming, and now here is a decisive contribution from sub Milner, who swaps passes with Fernandinho and legitimately crosses for Silva to seep City back into the game. The Kop clears its throat defiantly, but they'll know Liverpool have a fight on their hands now. A fight which almost turns physical as Suarez and Nasri jostle in the aftermath of the goal. Bubbling up nicely, it's fair to say...
    4/13/2014 1:52:40 PM
  • GERRARD REACTION[liverpool]
Put that into words, then, Mr Gerrard....

Emotional, but we need to keep calm. There's still four games to go. Nothing's won yet, but that's probably the biggest statement we've made so far. You felt like the clock was going backwards in some parts of that game...I'm a little bit lost for words

    4/13/2014 2:41:41 PM
  • RODGERS REACTION[liverpool]
Here's the Liverpool manager on a win which puts his side within four games of a first title since 1990...

I thought we were incredible today. The world watching saw a team with so much spirit, so much quality. The atmosphere...down on pitchside it was incredible. There's always an emotive side around this time, but it was an inspiration for us rather than something to hold us back

There'll be loads more reaction from that incredible Anfield game as the afternoon wears on, but let's not forget there's a third team still in this title race and Chelsea can get back to within two points of Liverpool - with a trip to Anfield still to come - if they win at Swansea today
