Weekend Live! (21 -23 March)

  • REAL 2-1 BARCELONA [realmadrid]
Benzema should have had his hat-trick - Di Maria again with another dangerous delivery from the left - but Pique's on the line and makes a dramatic intervention. Moments later, the hosts wants a penalty for a Fabregas handball but nothing doing. Breathless stuff.

  • REAL 2-1 BARCELONA [realmadrid]
Alba's won Barca's first corner here but Pique's thwarted and Bale shanks downfield. He's been in Di Maria's shadow so far, has Bale, but having made a subdued El Clasico debut back in October, he'll surely be happy to be on the winning side...
    3/23/2014 8:42:55 PM
  • GOAL! REAL 2-2 BARCELONA (Messi 42) [goal]
This is ridiculous stuff - and utterley brilliant. Messi plays a little give-and-go with Neymar, before jinking inside his marker and slotting low into the corner. With that one he's just become the top goalscorer in Clasico history.
    3/23/2014 8:43:32 PM
  • REAL 2-2 BARCELONA [ouch]
There was a rather comical little spat between Pepe and Fabregas as the former Arsenal man raced to help retrieve the ball. Both square up - and then inexplicably fall to the turf. They get booked for their japes.

  • REAL 2-2 BARCELONA [half-time]

  • In case you couldn't make out those stats from Barcelona's Twitter feed, here are the key numbers of that first half...

    3/23/2014 8:53:06 PM
How to segue smartly from Madrid to Hull? Er, I won't bother but for your half-time amusement, here's Steve Bruce watching Wayne Rooney's worldy from yesterday. Wow indeed.

  • REAL 2-2 BARCELONA [kick-off]
Back to business. More of the same please, boys.
    3/23/2014 9:02:37 PM
Xavi will ping in a first corner of the half, looking for Pique at the far post, but it comes to nowt. They've made the better return to action, have the visitors. [barcelona]
    3/23/2014 9:08:31 PM
  • REAL 2-2 BARCELONA [realmadrid]
Oh, wonderful run from Bale, powering between Pique and Alba, before prodding into Benzema's path. Smart stop from Valdes.
    3/23/2014 9:11:08 PM
Big moment here because Alves catches Ronaldo and the ref points to the spot... but replays show contact was outside the box.
    3/23/2014 9:11:48 PM
  • GOAL! REAL 3-2 BARCELONA (Ronaldo pen 55)
Valdes dives the right way but that's low, hard and right into the corner.
    3/23/2014 9:12:37 PM
  • Controversy at the Bernabeu because replays show that was not a penalty...

    3/23/2014 9:12:57 PM
  • This spot-kick is Ronaldo's 13th goal against Barcelona.

  • [betting]SKY BET ODDS
Not surprisingly our special pre-match price of 3/1 for Ronaldo and Messi both to score has come in. Can Real Madrid hold on this time? They are 1/3 to win, with the draw 10/3 and Barcelona now 7/1. Bet in-play here.

    3/23/2014 9:20:01 PM
Wow. There's just no let-up in this game. Ramos sends Neymar tumbling in the box, though just how much contact there was remains to be seen. The ref points to the spot and Messi has a chance to haul Barca level for a second time.
    3/23/2014 9:20:46 PM
He was the last man and that's a 19th red card of Ramos's career.
    3/23/2014 9:21:46 PM
  • GOAL! REAL 3-3 BARCELONA (Messi pen 64) [goal]
Lopez dives the right way but is given no chance. Mind-boggling action here in Madrid.
    3/23/2014 9:22:15 PM
  • Replays after replays to study and it looks like Ramos might just have clipped Neymar with his knee.

    3/23/2014 9:22:49 PM
  • Anyhow, the ball's in the net, we're all square and Real are a man down.

    3/23/2014 9:22:59 PM
  • [betting]SKY BET ODDS
That Messi penalty and Ramos red card has turned the odds in Barcelona's favour, with the visitors now 11/8 to win and Real Madrid 7/2. Will Messi get his hat-trick? He's 7/2 favourite to score next. Bet now.

  • REAL 3-3 BARCELONA [post]
Oof, terrific long-ranger from Alves has Lopez well beaten but the ball bounces back off the post! Carlo Ancelotti puffs out his cheeks - that was a let-off.
    3/23/2014 9:32:33 PM
  • REAL 3-3 BARCELONA [substitution]
We've had a couple of substutions, by the way. Real have replaced Benzema - to the surprise of the home crowd - with Varane, while Pedro is on in Barca colours for Neymar. Another visiting change now and it's an attacking one because Barca need to win this game. Off comes Fabregas and the pacy Alexis Sanchez scampers onto the field.

Into the final 10 minutes we go. Barcelona knock the ball around patiently until Mascherano puts his laces through it. Well over.
    3/23/2014 9:39:51 PM
It's a third penalty of the night! They've all been questioned but Iniesta finds himself sandwiched between Alonso and Carvajal and tumbles to the deck. Made a meal of it, certainly, but Alonso seemed clumsy there.
    3/23/2014 9:40:10 PM
  • GOAL! REAL 3-4 BARCELONA (Messi pen 84) [goal]
It's a hat-trick from Lionel Messi and what an important one. Atletico will stay top at this rate but with Barca just one point behind Real with nine games to go, the title race is wide open.

  • REAL 3-4 BARCELONA [realmadrid]
Home faces hiding behind scarves here as we enter the final moments. Alonso stands over a free-kick from 30 yards out but Barca clear comfortably. Three minutes' added time.
    3/23/2014 9:49:39 PM
  • REAL 3-4 BARCELONA [full-time]
Three penalties, a red card, a Messi hat-trick and a title race that's bang open again. That wasn't bad at all was it? Actually, it was one of the most dramatic, exhilarating games I've seen.

  • GUILLEM'S VERDICT [guillembalague]
Guillem Balague's pitchside at the Bernabeu...
It was a strange game in that the game didn't coincide with the goals. Neymar was beyond poor - he didn't link up, he didn't track back - and Pedro made a difference straight away. Messi saved the day. Benzema and Di Maria made the difference for Real - Ronaldo and Bale were fairly quiet - but they started to drop deeper. Barcelona celebrated wildly at the end because the title's still on.

  • INIESTA OPENER [barcelona]
There'll be plenty of highlights coming your way on Sky Sports News pretty soon but here's Andres Iniesta's opener for starters: a blistering left-footer after just seven minutes that gave Lopez no chance...

  • THAT'S A WEEKEND WRAP [football]
Can every weekend be like this (ok, perhaps not, Arsenal fans)? The Premier League has given us a stonking 42 goals - only bettered by the 43 back in February 2011 - and we've had a seven-goal Clasico to go utterly gooey for. We'll do it all again in less than 48 hours because six top-flight sides are in action on Tuesday - not least the Manchester pair, live on Sky Sports. On Wednesday, Liverpool will try to keep pace when they take on Sunderland in front of our cameras and we'll have more live action from La Liga with tonight's rivals - plus Atletico. If that's not enough, Celtic could wrap up the Scottish Premiership title at Partick Thistle. We'll look back and ahead in the morning when our Sky Sports Today blog returns. Join us then - and thanks for reading.
