Weekend Live! (21 -23 March)

  • CHELSEA v ARSENAL [arsenal]
Arsene Wenger said yesterday that it has been a "privilege" to take charge of Arsenal 1,000 times. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is just 10 minutes away.
    3/22/2014 12:34:54 PM
  • Here's the Chelsea starting XI. Luiz, Schurrle and Eto'o come in for Ramires, Willian and Torres

    3/22/2014 12:43:12 PM
  • This is the 1,000th team that Arsene Wenger has named. Tomas Rosicky came through a late fitness test to start.

    3/22/2014 12:43:25 PM
  • [kick-off]CHELSEA 0-0 ARSENAL
Chelsea get us going in west London...
    3/22/2014 12:45:13 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! DERBY 2-0 FOREST (Bryson)
Two for Derby and two for Bryson, who arrives late again to sweep in from 12 yards after cracking hold-up play from Martin
    3/22/2014 12:47:42 PM
Chelsea looking threatenign in the early ding-dong and twice threaten to get in behind. Szczesny gets there before Eto'o first time round, and the linesman denies Schurrle the second
    3/22/2014 12:49:41 PM
  • Rammie the Ram sprinted most of the way around the perimeter of the pitch to join in the Derby goal celebrations...

    3/22/2014 12:49:53 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! CHELSEA 1-0 ARSENAL (Eto'o)
Ridiculously open start at Stamford Bridge, and it's Chelsea who lead! Cech's one-handed stop denies Giroud at one end, and almost immediately Chelsea break on back-pedalling visitors. Schurrle finds Eto'o, who steps inside Chamberlain's challenge and bends a lovely left-footed finish inside Szczesny's far post
    3/22/2014 12:49:55 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! CHELSEA 2-0 ARSENAL (Schurrle)
Dear me, Arsene Wenger's milestone is fast becoming a nightmare. Arsenal are short of numbers again as they lose it in midfield, and this time Schurrle accepts a Matic pass and rifles past Szczesny. Shades of Liverpool here...
    3/22/2014 12:51:58 PM
An Eto'o goal was almost inevitable today, suggests Jeff.
He scored against Arsenal for Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League Final. It's his 11th goal of the season and every single one of those 11 goals has been at Stamford Bridge. [jeffstelling]

    3/22/2014 12:52:02 PM
Alan McInally says Jose Mourinho's side have been focused from the very first minutes.
What a start this is for Chelsea. They are right out of the blocks. [alanmcinally]

    3/22/2014 12:53:16 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! DERBY 3-0 FOREST (Hendrick)
Surely game over before half-time here as Hendrick breaks beyond the Forest defence, takes a touch and side-foots under Darlow
    3/22/2014 12:53:19 PM
  • Goals galore! Hendrick slots home to put Derby out of sight... surely?

    3/22/2014 12:54:25 PM
  • CHELSEA 2-0 ARSENAL[substitution] SUB!
Eto'o's influential cameo comes to an end as he limps off holding the back of his leg. Torres is on
    3/22/2014 12:55:04 PM
The Chelsea defender is a man of few words this afternoon...

    3/22/2014 12:59:21 PM
Incredible incident at Stamford Bridge as Arsenal's misery is multiplied. The visitors are opened up again, and Hazard side-foots in a shot which appears to be veering wide. Chamberlain - back on the line - panics and helps the ball round the post with his hand, Lev Yashin-style, but the referee gets a word in his ear from an assistant and sends off Gibbs instead! Pick the bones out of that! For starters, the wrong man has gone; secondly, with the ball going wide, should it even be a red card? What's not in doubt is it's a penalty...

    3/22/2014 1:01:12 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! CHELSEA 3-0 ARSENAL (Hazard pen)
Game over as Hazard prods the ball down the middle with Szczesny committed. This could get very embarrassing for Arsenal, who currently have Podolski playing left-back...
    3/22/2014 1:01:49 PM
Alan McInally makes sense of what we've just seen - as Arsenal go 3-0 down and a man down - but the wrong man is sent off!
Oxlaide-Chamberlain dives and handles the ball. I don't know if it was going to go in. It might have gone the other side of the post. Referee Andre Marriner says it's a straight red card, but he has sent off Gibbs. I think it's a case of mistaken identity. I don't get it. It's the wrong person he has sent off 100%. [alanmcinally]

    3/22/2014 1:04:31 PM
  • [betting] It's looking grim for Arsenal as they trail 3-0 after 16 minutes and are down to ten men. How many can Chelsea score? Bet in-play now

    3/22/2014 1:06:11 PM
Jeff Stelling is studying the replays of that incident and calls it "bewildering". He's not convinced it should have been a red card for the man who did handle the ball, never mind the man that didn't... [jeffstelling]
This will be debated and debated and debated... Andre Marriner may have made a mistake with the red card in the first place - and certainly has made a mistake in the player that he's shown it to! For goodness' sake... Marriner's all at sea.

    3/22/2014 1:09:06 PM
  • CHELSEA 3-0 ARSENAL SUB![substitution]
Podolski is hooked now as Arsene Wenger sends on Vermaelen. This is most certainly not how the manager wanted his 1000th game to pan out...
    3/22/2014 1:09:15 PM
Not the most auspicious start from Vermaelen, whose strange scooped clearance presents the ball to Ivanovic in a dangerous position on the right. Sagna does a full-back's dirty work to get across and reach the cross before Hazard
    3/22/2014 1:13:20 PM
3-0 down and a man down after 15 minutes... happy anniversary Arsene!
    3/22/2014 1:13:44 PM
Szczesny keeps it to three - for now - with a brilliant stop, changing direction to push the ball behind as Luiz's shot takes a nick off his pal Schurrle
    3/22/2014 1:15:50 PM

    3/22/2014 1:21:30 PM
Arsenal have actually looked half-decent since going 3-0 down, but Chelsea seem happy to sit off them and break into space when it crops up. Couple of mishit shots from the visitors, Cazorla and Chamberlain fluffing their lines from distance
    3/22/2014 1:22:24 PM
Hazard trying to bring a measure of pep to the Chelsea performance as he chances his arm from long range. Seems churlish to criticise Chelsea, mind, they'll feel the job's done already
    3/22/2014 1:26:31 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! CHELSEA 4-0 ARSENAL (Oscar)
And now the job is done - good and proper. More slack play from Arsenal gives Torres the run of the right flank, and his cross cuts out Mertesacker to give Oscar a simple six-yard finish. Grim for Arsenal. Very grim
    3/22/2014 1:26:59 PM
The sun is beating down on Arsene Wenger, but a dark cloud is hanging over him... it's four goals in 42 minutes and Oscar's 10th goal of the season. [jeffstelling]

    3/22/2014 1:28:29 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! DERBY 4-0 FOREST (Russell)
Anything Chelsea can do...Derby are running riot in, derby...and Russell makes it four with a dream of a goal, battered in left-footed from 25 yards
    3/22/2014 1:28:31 PM
  • What a strike this is... Jonny on the spot!

    3/22/2014 1:30:20 PM
Rare attack from Arsenal ends with Giroud hitting the side-netting from an angle. That early shot - and excellent Cech save - seems 1000 games ago now...
    3/22/2014 1:30:36 PM
This game in League One has just kicked off at 1.25pm. Why? Because Sheffield United are celebrating their 125th birthday today. They're also selling beer for £1.25 a pint!
    3/22/2014 1:32:40 PM
  • [half-time]CHELSEA 4-0 ARSENAL
The half ends with a Rosicky shot on target, but Arsenal leave the field crestfallen after an absolute shambles of a 45 minutes, from their viewpoint. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the Gibbs sending-off, Arsenal have come up spectacularly short at the home of a title rival for the third time this season. And there could be worse to come. Chelsea? They're heading seven points clear...
    3/22/2014 1:35:07 PM
Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. This is Kieran Gibbs' response to being sent off - even though Oxlaide-Chamberlain committed the offence.

  • [penalty]DERBY 4-0 NOTTM FOREST
PENALTY TO DERBY! County forward Bamford brought down by Forest keeper Darlow
    3/22/2014 1:43:16 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! DERBY 5-0 FOREST (Bryson 69 pen)
Bryson coolly slots from the spot to complete his hat-trick in the one-sided derby rout
    3/22/2014 1:43:55 PM
  • Not too many complaints about the award of the penalty. A clear foul by the goalkeeper on Bamford

    3/22/2014 1:43:58 PM
  • CHELSEA 4-0 ARSENAL SUBS![substitutions]
Chamberlain's game is - belatedly - over as he and (a presumably injured?) Koscielny makes way for Flamini and Jenkinson at the start of the second half. It could be a long one for Arsenal...
    3/22/2014 1:49:24 PM
Sheffield United's day of 125th anniversary celebrations might be spoiled by Wolves at Bramall Lane...  James Henry has opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
    3/22/2014 1:49:58 PM
  • [chelsea]CHELSEA 4-0 ARSENAL SAVE!
No sign of mercy from Chelsea. Torres dances into the box, and it takes all of Mertesacker's 6ft 8in to deny him with a full-length tackle. Luiz follows up but smashes the rebound straight at Szczesny
    3/22/2014 1:52:14 PM
Home fans - rather ungallantly, given the circumstances - scream for a red card as Rosicky thunders through the back of Azpilicueta. Ref Marriner reckons yellow will suffice
    3/22/2014 1:56:13 PM
