  • [sundaysupplement] Speaking of the potential signing of Julian Draxler, Martin Samuel believes that it could give Arsenal an added edge:
It's about investment and potential return. For Arsenal to win the title and compete in the Champions League, the financial rewards would be huge.

  • [goalsonsunday] Gianluca Vialli reflects on Sunderland's penalty shoot-out win over Manchester United on Wednesday night:
I was really surprised to see to Jones and Rafael taking the last penalties- you want the good ones first and the great ones last. I watched the match and it was an incredible last two minutes. This is why we love English football.

    1/26/2014 11:46:18 AM
  • [goalsonsunday] Vialli also says that he always thought Gus Poyet would go on to be a good manager after their days together at Chelsea:
You can tell when a footballer is a thinker, he's thinking about football, about tactics 24/7. I never had any problems with Gus and he knows the importance of a good relationship between the manager and his players.

Here's a glimpse of the Bramall Lane pitch, which is subject to a noon inspection. The Fulham fans are waiting on their coaches and the turnstiles won't open until referee Andre Marriner gives the nod. It's been lashing it down in Sheffield... [competition]

Right, with the green light from Mr Marriner, fancy a look at some potential pre-match omens?
    • The Blades have won all four previous FA Cup ties against Fulham, only once needing a replay to get through.
    • None of the last 10 clashes between the Blades and the Whites in all competitions has ended in an away win (seven home wins, three draws).
    • Sheffield United have lost their last three fourth round games, conceding 10 and failing to trouble the scorers once.
    • After 10 consecutive fourth round tie victories between 1998/99 and 2010/11, the Whites have gone out at this stage, away from home, in the last two campaigns.
    • Clint Dempsey has scored six goals in his last five FA Cup games.

  • SHEFF UTD V FULHAM [competition]
The teamsheets are in. There are three changes for Sheffield United - Brayford, Coady and Porter in the starting line-up - while Fulham switch their entire XI. We expected a few tweaks...

    Subs: Scougall, Harris, De Girolamo...
Fulham: Stockdale, Riise, Senderos, Kasami, Karagounis, Duff, Hughes, Rodallega, David, Tankovic, Passley.

  • HIBERNIAN V CELTIC [scottishfootball]
Here come the full line-ups from Easter Road. Coverage of this one is about to get under way on Sky Sports 2.

    1/26/2014 12:20:34 PM
It was touch-and-go but the Bramall Lane groundstaff dipped deep into their armoury to get this game on.

  • [betting] SKY BET ODDS!
We are 30 minutes away from the first FA Cup tie of the day, as Aston Villa's conquerors Sheffield United look to claim another Premier League scalp when they take on Fulham at Bramall Lane. The Blades are 6/4 to net a place in the fifth round.
    1/26/2014 12:29:53 PM
With more than one eye on Tuesday's Premier League fixture against fellow strugglers Swansea, he's made 11 changes but Rene Meulensteen still wants to see his new-look Fulham show plenty of respect to the League One side that saw off Aston Villa in the last round:
I warned the players they can't be complacent. I said that to them straight away (after the draw). This will be a very difficult game. Sheffield United will try to chase everything and the crowd will get behind them. The key for us is to make sure we remain calm and focused and play away from that sort of pressure they throw at you. If you can maintain that, then the quality should see you through. But if you don't match their fighting spirit and enthusiasm you could be in for a tough, tough ride.
    1/26/2014 12:48:13 PM
  • HIBERNIAN 0-0 CELTIC [kick-off]
We're up and running at Easter Road, by the way. Alex Harris has just latched onto a loose ball and tried his luck from range. We'll keep you posted with the goals from that game.
    1/26/2014 12:49:41 PM
  • GOAL! HIBERNIAN 0-1 CELTIC (Commons 8) [goal]
Kris Commons puts Celtic ahead with less than 10 minutes on the clock, pouncing on a defensive gaffe, cushioning the ball on his chest and slotting into the corner.
    1/26/2014 12:56:29 PM
  • A cool finish from Kris Commons and the early lead is Celtic's.

    1/26/2014 12:57:48 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [kick-off]
We've had the handshakes, the huddles and now the hosts' rendition of the Greasy Chip Butty Song. Let's get down to business.

    1/26/2014 1:00:16 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [competition]
Fulham are knocking the ball around in the opening stages but they might want to be careful - the pitch is treacly to say the least. Jamie Murphy, who's got the better of Passley here down the left, wins a free-kick in a decent position on the edge of the box. Rodallega clears.
    1/26/2014 1:03:21 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [save]
David, slipped through by Tankovic's clever back-heel, tries to prod across goal but Long is alert and spreads himself well to narrow the angle. Fulham keep the ball alive as David clambers back over the advertising boards but Rodallega heads narrowly over.
    1/26/2014 1:06:49 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [injury]
It was a home corner that came to nothing but in conceding it, John Arne Riise looks like he's tweaked his hamstring here. Yep, off comes the Norwegian, to be replaced by Plumain. They'll surely look to target those young full-backs, will the Blades.
    1/26/2014 1:09:54 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [fulham]
Neither goalkeeper's really been worked yet and that long-ranger won't get George Long's heart rate going. Dragged his foot across the ball, did Tankovic.
    1/26/2014 1:13:25 PM
  • HIBERNIAN 0-1 CELTIC [scottishfootball]
Celtic still lead at Easter Road but Samaras should double their advantage, dropping a shoulder to craft a yard, only to shoot idly at the keeper. Almost half-an-hour gone there.
    1/26/2014 1:14:50 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [flag]
This is neat interplay from Fulham, Kasami and Tankovic combining well, but Plumain's drifted offside. Still fairly even stuff so far.
    1/26/2014 1:16:54 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [rain]
It's a right old bog in this corner of the pitch; Murphy twisting in vain as two purple shirts close in and eventually clear. Jose Baxter's standing over a dead ball on the edge of the area, Hughes penalised for a lunge at Porter, but there's too much bend on it.
    1/26/2014 1:21:39 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [rain]
David Stockdale's just conceded a corner after smothering a Chris Porter flick-on, only slide helplessly across the byline. The weather folk had expected the rain to ease off an hour ago but it's still coming down pretty heavily...
    1/26/2014 1:26:45 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 0-0 FULHAM [fulham]
Rene Meulensteen is chuckling but Neill Collins didn't see the funny side; a ball across the six-yard box sticks in the mud and the stopper's taken by surprise, finally able to hoik into the stands.
    1/26/2014 1:30:17 PM
  • GOAL! SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM (Porter 31) [goal]
What about this! Big centre-back Harry Maguire surges forward and it's super movement from Chris Porter, who darts across Senderos and flicks beyond Stockdale.
    1/26/2014 1:31:19 PM
  • HIBERNIAN 0-1 CELTIC[half-time]
Kris Commons's 15th league goal of the season has the Hoops ahead at the break in Easter Road.
    1/26/2014 1:35:51 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [fulham]
Ooh, Fulham want a penalty here and they could well have had one, Long swiftly off his line but appearing to catch Rodallega. Nope, says Andre Marriner, after a lingering look. Big call. In weather news, the sun is out!
    1/26/2014 1:37:13 PM
Scotland winger has put Celtic ahead at the break in Leith.

    1/26/2014 1:38:53 PM
The hosts content to let Fulham play keep-ball at the moment, ensuring those two blocks of four stay intact. Couple of minutes left in the first half at Bramall Lane... here's Karagounis over a set-piece; urgh, that's horrible.
    1/26/2014 1:42:45 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [ouch]
Just the one minute's added time here but Maguire is down needing treatment on his left calf. Might have just been caught by Rodallega as the two chased a ball. He's back on his feet and should be alright to continue, I reckon. Fulham are allowed to take the corner...
    1/26/2014 1:49:06 PM
  • [kick-off]HIBERNIAN 0-1 CELTIC
We're under way again in the east of Edinburgh. The Scottish Premiership leaders are chasing a 11th straight league with and a ninth straight clean sheet. Finland forward Pukki has replaced Israel midfielder Biton at the break.
    1/26/2014 1:49:51 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [half-time]
...but it's nodded behind for a goal-kick - and there's the whistle. Here's the man who's put the League One Blades on course for another FA Cup shock...
    1/26/2014 1:50:15 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [whistle]
Just watching replays of that Fulham penalty shout right after Porter's opener. Rodallega tried to stay on his feet; had he fallen to the turf, Marriner may well have pointed to the spot. There was some contact but the ref's no doubt taken into account the conditions, too. Back out come the sides...
    1/26/2014 2:03:01 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [substitution]
Nigel Clough's made a half-change here - but it's not Maguire who's come off but goalscorer Chris Porter, whose hamstring's giving him a bit of bother. Maguire's got some strapping on his left knee and new signing Stefan Scougall comes on, which should see Murphy push up alongside Baxter.
    1/26/2014 2:05:53 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [substitution]
Scrap that, Maguire's going to have to come off here and so another new signing, Bob Harris from Blackpool, enters the fray. That's a blow for the Blades, losing their player of the year.
    1/26/2014 2:07:15 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [red-card]
Is this the game-changing moment? Michael Doyle has been sent off for Sheffield United after kicking out at David. The skipper had been left with a bloodied nose moments earlier when the pair jumped for a ball but that's madness.
    1/26/2014 2:12:59 PM
They've lost a key defender and had their skipper sent off so how will the Blades react? With stonking counter-attack sparked by Ryan Flynn, that's how. Stockdale makes a smart stop but Rene Meulensteen will try and swing the pendulum his side's by sending on Darren Bent, David the man to make way. [substitution]
    1/26/2014 2:17:37 PM
  • [goal] GOAL! HIBERNIAN 0-2 CELTIC (Van Dijk 77)
Dutch stopper Virgil van Dijk fires a superb free-kick from 25 yards for his fourth Celtic goal and surely secures a 11th straight win.
    1/26/2014 2:20:46 PM
  • SHEFF UTD 1-0 FULHAM [fulham]
This is a really tasty tie now; open, committed, in front of a crowd that's found its voice. Plumain curls narrowly wide at one end, before Baxter shifts this way and that, bending one himself just around an upright.
