Weekend Live! (28-30 March)

  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [kick-off]
Peep peep! Down to business - in glorious sunshine.
    3/29/2014 12:17:14 PM
  • Burnley set up like this...

    3/29/2014 12:17:25 PM
  • Leicester also plump for a 4-4-2 formation...

    3/29/2014 12:17:33 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [leicester]
Plenty of the ball for Leicester in the opening minutes but Burnley right up their noses, Schlupp given short shrift when he has a run at Mee.
    3/29/2014 12:19:44 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [injury]
This could be worrying for Burnley because Sam Vokes is down and clutching his knee. Might have jarred his knee as he went to close down a ball on the left. Looked like he'd be ok but nope - he's got his head in his hands on the bench. David Edgar is on.
    3/29/2014 12:22:44 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [alanmcinally]
Soccer Saturday's Alan McInally feels that's a nightmare moment for the home team
That's an absolute disaster for Sean Dyche. I can only assume that's a knee injury. No Sam Vokes or Danny Ings... they needed them for the run-in to the end of this season. They might have to do it the hard way.

    3/29/2014 12:28:11 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [burnley]
Barnes playing as a lone striker for Burnley, who've already lost Danny Ings to injury, remember. Cracking atmosphere here but little to speak of yet in terms of chances. Hang on, Barnes might get to this through-ball from Jones! Out comes Schmeichel, just in time.
    3/29/2014 12:30:30 PM
  • MAN UTD v ASTON VILLA [paulmerson]
Paul Merson is tipping Manchester United to win 2-1 today - but feels it's a hard game to call.
In some ways this is a dead rubber for Man United because they need to focus on Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. However, it's a Catch-22 because they're not in a position to lose a game at home. Meanwhile, Villa are like a bag of Revels - you just don't know if you're going to get a toffee or an orange from them. I am just going for Man United to win this, but I don't really know why.
Read all of Paul Merson's weekend predictions
    3/29/2014 12:31:14 PM
  • HAIRY STRIKERS [socceram]
Marouane Fellaini starts for Manchester United this lunchtime, but he was hanging out in the Soccer AM studio earlier on (honest...)
    3/29/2014 12:34:24 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [burnley]
Sean Dyche is getting chalk on his brogues because he wants a word with the defenders who watched a super ball from Mahrez ping across goal without attention. His side have the upper hand in this one so far, though.
    3/29/2014 12:37:30 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-0 VILLA[kick-off]
No sign of David Moyes being intimidated by the imminent aeroplane stunt - the United manager strides up the touchline before the teams are out and is rewarded for his bravado with a more-than-decent reception. Round one to Moyes, and we're under way...
    3/29/2014 12:45:27 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-0 VILLA
Here as promised is the aeroplane tailing its 'Wrong One - Moyes Out' banner. A few boos from the stands, but it's all a bit underwhelming. That's £800 well spent, lads...
    3/29/2014 12:50:00 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-0 LEICESTER [leicester]
Still goalless at Turf Moor but now there's an enforced change for Leicester, difference being they've a striker in Chris Wood to replace the injured Jamie Vardy.
    3/29/2014 12:51:00 PM
  • GOAL! BURNLEY 0-1 LEICESTER (Nugent 35) [goal]
It's goalless no longer and what a super goal too! Super hold-up play from Wood, who checks back and waits for support from Nugent but the ex-Burnley man's finish is just as good - a drop of the shoulder to cut inside and a curler into the far corner.
    3/29/2014 12:51:20 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-0 VILLA
Still, it's a good job something's going on off the pitch, because there's precious little action to shout about so far. Low-key doesn't cover it
    3/29/2014 12:52:31 PM
  • Leicester are ahead because Nugent have just curled beyond Heaton from here...

    3/29/2014 12:53:28 PM
  • A subdued celebration against your old club? Don't be daft - Leicester are six points clear at the top as it stands.

    3/29/2014 12:53:36 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-1 LEICESTER
Jeff Stelling reels out a few stats to rub salt in the wounds for the home fans.
It's Nugent's 20th goal of the season. He is ex-Burnley of course - but he's scored six in eight against them since he left them. [jeffstelling]
    3/29/2014 12:54:07 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-0 VILLA
Chance now for United, maybe, as Young wins a free-kick wide on the right...Rooney meets Mata's delivery but gets his header all wrong
    3/29/2014 12:54:44 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-0 VILLA
Worrying sign for Moyes as Jones stretches to cut out a ball to Weimann and pulls up holding the back of his right leg. He'll carry on for now...
    3/29/2014 12:56:48 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-0 VILLA
And this doesn't make great viewing for United fans, either, as Rafael brings Agbonlahor's burst to a crude end and goes in the book. Villa free-kick 20 yards out...
    3/29/2014 12:57:32 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA (Westwood)
Dear me. We've seen Bacuna bury a few from here this season, and now Westwood gets in on the act, getting the ball up and over the wall. De Ga gets a slight touch but can't keep it out, and Villa lead!
    3/29/2014 12:57:56 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA
United fans' response is defiant and immediate, but it's the name of the club they're chanting at the minute and not the name of the manager.
David Moyes made his way out early at Old Trafford.
    3/29/2014 1:00:31 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA
Quick as a flash.. Jeff has some more stats for you after that early Villa goal.
Ashley Westwood doesn't score many It's just his second goal for Villa and what a place top get it. De Gea gets his fingertips to it, but can't keep it out. [jeffstelling]

    3/29/2014 1:00:32 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA
Now Buttner's in bother as he's whistled for a lunge at Albrighton (which doesn't connect) and responds with an angry jab in the winger's chest. He joins fellow full-back Rafael in the book and it's a Villa free-kick out wide
    3/29/2014 1:01:47 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-1 LEICESTER [whistle]
Burnley want a penalty here because the ball strikes a jumping Jeff Schlupp's arm but Chris Foy says no and he's right to do so. Nothing deliberate about that.
    3/29/2014 1:02:28 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA CHANCE!
Paul Lambert turns away in anguish and well he might...Albrighton's set-piece finds Clark in a yard of space, but the Irishman can't control his header and the ball flies too high
    3/29/2014 1:02:53 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA
Here's the plane that flew over Old Trafford about 10 minutes ago. Tony Cottee, in the Soccer Saturday studio, wonders if it might take off again after that Villa goal.
    3/29/2014 1:03:51 PM
  • MAN UTD 0-1 VILLA
At last we see a bit of attacking intent from United as Young searches out Rooney's run with a sweetly-hit centre. Guzan gets there first and takes a knee to his glistening pate in the process. Thankfully he's okay
    3/29/2014 1:04:26 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA (Rooney)
Much more like it from United.  Lambert will wonder where his defence is as Rooney is in six yards of space six yards out to convert Kagawa's measured pass with his head. Rooney doesn't care, and neither will David Moyes. All square
    3/29/2014 1:05:11 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-1 LEICESTER [half-time]
There's the whistle at half-time and the leaders lead, a polished David Nugent goal the difference.
    3/29/2014 1:05:19 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Mojo restored for now, clearly, as United suddenly lay siege to the Villa goal. Mata's pass opens up a shooting chance for Rooney, Clark blocks, and moments later Buttner bombs forward onto a long ball only to catch Clark in the head with his attempt to control. No danger of a second booking, but Villa have a free-kick and some breathing space
    3/29/2014 1:08:38 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Tony Cottee, in the Soccer Saturday studio, was as about as close to Wayne Rooney as the Villa defence when United's equaliser went in...
Some of the defending in this game is unbelievably bad. I don't know what Ciaran Clark was doing. He ran to the front post and left Rooney totally unmarked. It's their first effort on goal, but the defending is awful and there's more goals to come. [tonycottee]

    3/29/2014 1:09:25 PM
  • LEICESTER'S CROSSBAR CHALLENGE [socceram]
Leicester lead Burnley 1-0 at half-time in the battle of the Championship's top two. Here's some footage of them trying NOT to hit the back of the net from Soccer AM earlier.
    3/29/2014 1:10:49 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
You have to think there's plenty more scoring to come given the casual approach to keeping it tight from both sides. United's full-backs are flying forward at every hint of an invite, while watertight isn't a word you'd use to describe Villa's defending
    3/29/2014 1:11:50 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Rooney has the chance to whip a ball into the box as Albrighton commits an offence out wide. It's a fierce delivery and Clark does well to head it behind. He does even better to get a goal-kick out of it
    3/29/2014 1:13:07 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Villa aren't without a threat of their own when they break in speed and numbers. Albrighton takes on all-comers before clipping in a cross from the left - there are men over, but Fletcher gets a toe in an United hack the ball clear
    3/29/2014 1:15:37 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Laurel and Hardy blush as Fellaini's awful pass and Delph's nedless interception almost gift Rooney a free run at goal. Vlaar gets back to mop up, and everyone can calm down
    3/29/2014 1:17:30 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Vlaar's at it again, craning his neck to get just enough on a lovely Mata dink just as Kagawa sets himself for a Roy Race volley
    3/29/2014 1:18:37 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA [manchesterunited]
Wayne Rooney's celebrates his leveller, but you get the feeling there's more goals to come here...
    3/29/2014 1:19:30 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-1 LEICESTER [kick-off]
Back to business at Turf Moor, with no further changes to either side. Sean Dyche is a little late out of the dressing room but here he comes, legging it down the touchline...
    3/29/2014 1:20:21 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Sloppy stuff from United as Vidic's poor clearance cannons back against him off Albrighton and out for a Villa corner...Benteke's up early and looks like getting his head on it, but his timing's all wrong
    3/29/2014 1:22:47 PM
  • BURNLEY 0-1 LEICESTER [post]
Knockaert clatters the crossbar for Leicester! Took a couple of touches to get the ball out of his feet and put his laces right through that one, only to watch it come back. Suddenly, Burnley are in at the other end when Morgan slips but Arfield can only shoot against Schmeichel, who narrowed the angle well.
    3/29/2014 1:25:49 PM
  • MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA
Guzan's a mile out of his goal as Mata and Vlaar pursue a punt into the channel. For an instant it seem Mata has the chance to lob it over the keeper, but Vlaar's back at him in a shot
    3/29/2014 1:26:51 PM
  • [penalty]MAN UTD 1-1 VILLA - PENALTY TO UNITED!
Bacuna loses his bearings as Mata motors onto a Kagawa pass and looks set to release a shot. Bacuna's challenge gets too much of the man for ref Martin Atkinson's liking, and it's a penalty. Bacuna's booked, into the bargain
