Weekend Live! (May 2-4)

  • REAL MADRID v VALENCIA
Both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo are in the Real starting line-up, which also includes Karim Benzema and Isco. No shortage of goals there!
    5/4/2014 6:55:01 PM
  • [kick-off]REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
And we are off. Another massive 90 minutes of La Liga football starts now. Will we see another twist in this most twisty, turny of title races? Strap yourself in.
    5/4/2014 7:02:02 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
An early charge forward by Benzema is not matched by a decent through-ball, with the ball skipping away from the striker before he can control.
    5/4/2014 7:04:42 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA[save]
Real should be 1-0 up. And it is amazing they are not considering the chance went to Ronaldo, who exchanges passes with Bale on the edge of the box to give himself a clear sight of goal, but away keeper Alves does superbly to save.
    5/4/2014 7:07:10 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Another great chance for the home side goes begging as Bale cuts to the byline and digs out a powerful cross that Benzema does well to get a head on but can only direct it a yard over the crossbar. Real have started like they really mean business.
    5/4/2014 7:09:07 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Valencia make a tentative move into the Real half for the first time but Ramos does well to head away a Pereira cross. Real then charge straight down the other end and Benzema's cross into the six-yard box is just deflected away from Ronaldo by a Valencia boot.
    5/4/2014 7:14:38 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Valencia playing some nice possession stuff, stroking the ball from orange shirt to orange shirt. It is all pretty harmless stuff, though, and no danger to the home half let alone box. In contrast, when Real get the ball there is immediate purpose and forward movement. You can tell which side need the win more.
    5/4/2014 7:17:04 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Real might need the win more but they have just almost gifted Valencia the opening goal. Feghouli has plenty of time on the right to swing over a cross that finds former Real player Parejo in acres of space. He should hit the target but fails and plants his header high enough for Lopez to palm on to the bar. It is a really good save but Parejo shouldn't have given him a chance.
    5/4/2014 7:21:19 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
The game had gone a little flat in the last few minutes but Benzema almost lifts it again by trying to battle his way past a few challenges in the box. He is eventually muscled out of it, though, and Valencia can clear. Soon after, Ronaldo has another superb chance as he beats Costa to fire a shot on target that Alves has to be sharp to save.
    5/4/2014 7:28:06 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Bale has been a bit quiet so far but he almost opens the scoring by cutting inside from the right and curling a shot that flies past the far post.
    5/4/2014 7:32:25 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Benzema runs at the Valencia defence with intent down the left but the away side do well to crowd him out and prevent him getting a shot on target. Instead, the Frenchman's effort is sliced and goes horribly wide of goal.
    5/4/2014 7:35:05 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Ronaldo has tried a few times to win a free-kick around the box but he has been turned down every time by the referee, who is not allowing himself to be conned by any play-acting. The winger is a lot more effective when he stays on his feet.

    5/4/2014 7:39:34 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Valencia have been on the back foot for much of the game but they have arguably had the best chance so far. But for some poor control, they would have another as a ball from the right beats the home defence and would give Parejo a clear sight of goal as long he doesn't allow the ball to slip under his boot. He does and the chance evaporates.
    5/4/2014 7:41:30 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
Ronaldo stays on his feet this time and uses them to great effect by running from the halfway line into the Valencia box before firing a low shot across goal that Alves has to dive to save. Bale is given chance to follow up but his low driven cross is fired wide by Benzema and it remains 0-0.
    5/4/2014 7:43:40 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-0 VALENCIA
What an effort that is from Feghouli! The Valencia player picks up possession on the right and buys himself a yard with a neat shimmy before firing a shot from an angle that forces Lopez to dive and palm away.
    5/4/2014 7:45:32 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA (Mathieu)
Well, well, well, are we in for yet another twist in the title race?! Lopez did well to save the shot from Feghouli but he can do nothing to prevent Mathieu getting his head to the resulting corner to nod in from inside the six-yard box. The Bernabeu is silenced.
    5/4/2014 7:45:52 PM
  • [half-time]REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA
And there goes the half-time whistle. Real find themselves in a similar situation to that of their city rivals Atletico earlier in the day. They are favourites but trail 1-0 at the break. Ancelotti has a big team-talk to give now to get his side back into this game. In fairness, they have had most of possession and more chances but that counts for little if you don't find the net.

    5/4/2014 7:54:05 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA[kick-off]
The game gets back under way with Real having made a change. Di Maria has been sent on to try and give the home side even more attacking edge. Illarramendi makes way.
    5/4/2014 8:03:34 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA
Isco looks to level matters up early in the second half with a shot from 25 yards but he doesn't quite catch it and Alves is able to save with ease.
    5/4/2014 8:04:37 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA
Unbelievably, Barcelona's home point against Getafe is looking like a good one at this point in time. If this game stays like this it means that Barca can win the league with two victories from their remaining two games, the second of which is against leaders Atletico at the Nou Camp.
    5/4/2014 8:06:57 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA
Di Maria's first action sees him charge down the left and attempt a cross that strikes Pereira. The home players and crowd scream for handball but the referee waves away the protests, much to the ire of all in white. It would have been a harsh penalty to give considering Pereira was just a yard away from Di Maria when the ball was struck.
    5/4/2014 8:09:35 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA
Chances at both ends. Firstly, a Valencia free-kick is delivered into the box and headed towards goal by the head of Alcacer but is saved well by Lopez. Then, down the other end, Di Maria strikes a shot from an angle that forces Alves to pull out a neat block down low.

    5/4/2014 8:11:50 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA[save]
Alves pulls out another superb save to deny Ronaldo, who had unleashed a superb volley from just inside the box that was heading for the back of the net.
    5/4/2014 8:13:56 PM
  • REAL MADRID 0-1 VALENCIA
And yet another Real chance goes begging as a corner is swung over and hits the onrushing Varane before bobbling wide of goal. This is starting to feel a lot like the Levante v Atletico game from earlier, with Real spurning chance after chance.
    5/4/2014 8:16:13 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! REAL MADRID 1-1 VALENCIA (Ramos 59)
Utter relief for Real! The Bernabeu erupts as Ramos charges into the box to meet Ronaldo's header back across goal with a header of his own that steers the ball into the net. He is having a superb week in front of goal is the defender after his two against Bayern in the Champions League. This goal could be worth even more to his side.
    5/4/2014 8:17:26 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA (Parejo 65)
Would you believe it?! Just a few minutes after Real get back level they trail again. It is a great strike as well from former Real player who latches on to the deflected low pull-back from Feghouli to fire a shot into the corner of the net. Yet another twist in this amazing title race!
    5/4/2014 8:22:42 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Real have it all to do again, and just over 20 minutes in which to do it. Benzema tries to get Marcelo in down the left but his pass is just a touch to heavy and goes out of play before the full-back can reach it to cross for his gathered team-mates in the box.
    5/4/2014 8:26:57 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA[yellow-card]
Keita goes into the book for a very heavy tackle on Carvajal. And Real make their second change with Casemiro on for Isco.
    5/4/2014 8:29:43 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Real piling on the pressure now. Varane swings a cross over from the right that skips past three Real players in the box, including the diving Benzema at the back post.
    5/4/2014 8:31:29 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Real continue their assault on the Valencia goal but Casemiro cannot keep his header own from a corner and plants the ball in the stand behind the goal.
    5/4/2014 8:34:22 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Big chance for Real as Bale wins a free-kick on the edge of the box. Bale is over it, as is Ronaldo. It is the latter who strikes it, and strikes it well, but Alves is equal to it with a superb block.
    5/4/2014 8:35:47 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Real force a corner, which Di Maria takes and Roanldo meets with a free header but puts over the goal. He should have done much, much better with that. There are 10 minutes left now for Real to salvage something.
    5/4/2014 8:37:44 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA[substitution]
Ancelotti's last throw of the dice sees Morata come on for Benzema.
    5/4/2014 8:41:37 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Morata is straight into the action to drive at the Valencia defence before unleashing a shot from range that rises over the bar. Ronaldo screams at him for being greedy. Pot, kettle, black.
    5/4/2014 8:43:05 PM
  • [betting]Real Madrid are running out of time here, a win looks unlikely at 8/1, but a draw is still within reach at 9/4. Bet in-play on La Liga here.

    5/4/2014 8:44:08 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
Desperate times for Real now. They have a corner, which is delayed because Parejo is injured. He limps off for treatment before Di Maria whips over the corner, which Valencia head away before Alves comes out to claim a follow-up cross.
    5/4/2014 8:46:35 PM
  • REAL MADRID 1-2 VALENCIA
The 90 minutes are up. Real look for a late leveller but Bale's header from a cross from the right glances wide of goal. There will be five extra minutes. Still time for the home side to get something.
    5/4/2014 8:48:33 PM
  • [goal]GOAL! REAL MADRID 2-2 VALENCIA (Ronaldo)
Real are level! And it is from a very familiar source. 50 up again for the season for Ronaldo, who sticks out a leg to flick a driven cross from the left into the net from inside the box. They have two minutes left to get the win they need!

    5/4/2014 8:50:24 PM
  • REAL MADRID 2-2 VALENCIA
Oh what a chance for Ronaldo to complete the most dramatic of turnarounds. He rises at the back post to meet a cross and powers a header down but just the wrong side of the post. One minute and counting.
    5/4/2014 8:53:03 PM
  • REAL MADRID 2-2 VALENCIA
Oh my word! What a great chance for Morata! Di Maria's cross from the left is met by the substitute at the near post but he puts his poked shot past the post. Half the ground thought it was in!
    5/4/2014 8:54:24 PM
  • [full-time]REAL MADRID 2-2 VALENCIA
What a breathless end to a superb game. Real salvage a draw but it will feel like a bit of a defeat as they miss the chance to seize the initiative in the title race. You have to give credit to Valencia for the way they took their chances and held the home side at bay for much of the game but Real were disappointing. You have to wonder if anyone actually wants to win this title?!
    5/4/2014 8:56:56 PM
  • REAL MADRID 2-2 VALENCIA
After this result, Atletico Madrid losing to Levante and Barcelona drawing with Getafe it is the first time this season that the three title challengers have all failed to win. It leaves Atletico top on 88 points, Barca second with 85 and Real third on 83, with a game in hand.
    5/4/2014 8:58:12 PM
  • REAL MADRID 2-2 VALENCIA
Atletico host Malaga next, while Barca travel to Elche and Real go to Vallodolid and then Celta Vigo. On the final day Real host Espanyol and Barca square off against Atletico. What a game that last one is going to be.
    5/4/2014 9:00:15 PM
  • That is all from Weekend Live. You can all catch your breath now. That is until tomorrow when we'll be back on it to bring you the Monday Night Football that sees Crystal Palace take on Liverpool! For now, though, good night.
