Weekend Live! (May 2-4)

  • [save]WEST HAM 0-0 TOTTENHAM
Lloris is an exceptional footballer. Dawson sells him a touch short with the back-pass and with Carroll bearing down on him at full speed, just breezes past him with an assured first touch and clears.

  • READING 1-2 BURNLEY [burnley]
We are into the last five mins here - Reading need the break to get organised, Burnley in control since the Ings goal

  • [save]WEST HAM 0-0 TOTTENHAM
Naughton clips a cross into the box and Paulinho can't generate enough power on his header. Adrian fields easily. Moments later, Downing blasts wastefully high and wide from 20 yards.
    5/3/2014 12:01:40 PM
  • SAVE! How crucial will this stop from Reading keeper McCarthy be? He denies Ings from close range in first half stoppage time

    5/3/2014 12:03:21 PM
  • [yellow-card]WEST HAM 0-0 TOTTENHAM
Taylor nips in front of Naughton and gets clattered. That's a caution for the Spurs full-back.
    5/3/2014 12:04:02 PM
  • BATTLE AT THE BOTTOM
Looking good for Millwall, who lead Bournemouth 1-0 at half-time, with Doncaster holding Leicester 0-0 and Birmingham still 0-0 at Bolton.
    5/3/2014 12:04:45 PM
  • READING 1-2 BURNLEY [half-time]
STOP!!!!!!!!! Amazing stop from McCarthy to deny Ings who had raced clear - ball drops to Barnes but he scoops the ball over the bar with the goal at his mercy  - massive let-off for Reading, that save could prove to be vital. Half-time whistle blows here....
    5/3/2014 12:04:55 PM
  • NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-0 BRIGHTON
[half-time]With Reading losing to Burnley, Brighton may only need a point here to reach the play-offs but they are fluffing their lines! A bad error by Kuszczak gave the hosts the lead and the visitors need to up their game after the break.

  • Here are the half time Championship scores

    5/3/2014 12:09:00 PM
  • As it stands Birmingham are going down - but a goal for Leicester would change all of that.

    5/3/2014 12:11:06 PM
  • While, at the other end, Reading hold onto sixth at the moment, despite trailing to Burnley.

    5/3/2014 12:11:19 PM
  • [red-card]WEST HAM 0-0 TOTTENHAM
Downing scampers onto a lucky ricochet and is through. He cleverly cuts in front of Kaboul - the last chasing man. Kaboul makes the mistake of leaning on the home winger from behind and referee Dowd takes his time before flashing the red card. It was outside the box, so the defender did something right, at least...

  • [save]WEST HAM 0-0 TOTTENHAM
Great stuff! Carroll absolutely beams the resulting free-kick towards the top corner. It's on Lloris' side but that went like a rocket and the goalkeeper did well to tip it away.
    5/3/2014 12:12:21 PM
  • [goal]WEST HAM 1-0 TOTTENHAM (Kane Og 27')
It's there this time! Carroll out-jumps Dawson to meet a corner at the far post. His header flicks off Kane and eludes Lloris to find the net. It may be an own goal but I think Carroll will claim that one.

  • After the Championship drama has unfolded there's plenty more action to look forward to in the Premier League, League One and League Two. Here are the ups and downs to look out for...

  • [missed-chance]WEST HAM 1-0 TOTTENHAM
An incisive run from Downing culminates in him standing up an inviting ball to the far stick and Lennon has to stand strong to prevent McCartney getting a free header from close range. All Hammers now - Spurs not looking too clever...
    5/3/2014 12:18:06 PM
  • BOLTON 0-0 BIRMINGHAM [alanmcinally]

If Doncaster concede to Leicester Birmingham will stay up - but Alan McInally reckons the Blues need to go for a winner

Bolton haven't been fantastic. Birmingham need more. They need a goal - surely Macheda should come on immediately.

  • [save]WEST HAM 1-0 TOTTENHAM
That is a truly great save. Much was made of Courtois' stop from Terry in the week but this is infinitely better. Taylor catches an 18-yard volley as cleanly as you like and Lloris has to dive full stretch to tip around the post with the very extremes of his fingertips.
    5/3/2014 12:22:33 PM
  • READING 1-2 BURNLEY [chriskamara]
It's getting nervous at the Madejski - but Reading ARE still in the play-off places as it stands...

Very nervous, as you can imagine. The supporters are concerned about the Brighton result. But they've seen the confidence Burnley have - the visitors dominated the later stages of that first half.

    5/3/2014 12:22:39 PM
  • WATFORD 0-1 HUDDERSFIELD [fl72]
GOAL! Clayton finds Lolley and he opens the scoring for Huddersfield with a right-foot hit
    5/3/2014 12:24:16 PM
  • Kaboul has been sent off for Spurs at Upton Park

    5/3/2014 12:25:11 PM
  • [substitution]WEST HAM 1-0 TOTTENHAM
Chiriches has come on for Kane as Spurs look to plug the gap left by Kaboul's red.
    5/3/2014 12:25:23 PM
  • And West Ham then took the lead through a Harry Kane own-goal

    5/3/2014 12:26:07 PM
  • GOAL! NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-1 BRIGHTON [goal] (Ward, 53)
Brighton may be set for the play-offs! The ball bobbled around after an Orlandi corner and Ulloa missed his kick but Tudgay's attempted clearance then went straight to Ward, who controlled brilliantly and then found the net with a crisp low shot from 10 yards out. Brighton are sixth as it stands!

  • READING 1-2 BURNLEY [fl72]
Massive blow for Reading as Brighton equalise at Forest - Ward is the man who puts Brighton into the top six on goal difference!!!!!
    5/3/2014 12:28:50 PM
  • [yellow-card]WEST HAM 1-0 TOTTENHAM
It's Dawson this time, who misjudges a challenge. He brings down Noble in full flight and it's another card for the visitors.
    5/3/2014 12:29:09 PM
  • Ward drives the ball into the net - Brighton into the play-off places!

    5/3/2014 12:29:27 PM
  • [goal]WEST HAM 2-0 TOTTENHAM (Downing 44')
That will infuriate Tim Sherwood. The free-kick is taken by Downing and it's not a particularly good one - but Paulinho and Adebayor break rank in the wall to allow it through and an unsighted Lloris can do nothing as the ball flies into the near corner.
    5/3/2014 12:30:35 PM
  • Here's what that Ward strike means...

    5/3/2014 12:31:24 PM
  • READING 1-2 BURNLEY [burnley]
OOOPS! Reading keeper Heaton races out of his goal to grab the ball - he looks out of the area but the linesperson says his hands were inside the box. Massive blow for the Royals as Le Fondre limps off and on comes Robson-Kanu

    5/3/2014 12:32:05 PM
  • [missed-chance]WEST HAM 2-0 TOTTENHAM
Carroll races onto a dropping ball and volleys just wide of the far post. Hammers fans are loving this and it could get worse for Sherwood's visitors after the break.
    5/3/2014 12:32:09 PM
  • BOLTON 1-0 BIRMINGHAM
GOAL!! Looking bleak for the Blues as Chung-Yong Lee fires Bolton in front. Bolton fans are celebrating and there was a huge roar from Doncaster fans at Leicester - their 0-0 draw will be good enough to stay up as it stands. [bolton]
    5/3/2014 12:32:36 PM
  • [goal] READING 2-2 BURNLEY (McCleary)
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!! What a goal from McCleary to put Reading back in the play-off spot with a wonder strike - he whacks in a superb volley from the edge of the D flies into the net, what a beauty!!!

  • NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1-1 BRIGHTON
[save]Brighton need all three points here now and Orlandi tries his luck from distance. The shot takes a slight deflection but De Vries gets down well to save. Lua Lua comes off the bench for Brighton.
    5/3/2014 12:33:15 PM
  • [half-time]WEST HAM 2-0 TOTTENHAM
That's a really disastrous half for Spurs. The game no doubt swung on Kaboul's red card, but the defending for the second will be questioned and probably lambasted... Hammers are well on their way to guaranteeing Premier League football for next season.
