Weekend live! 9-11 May

  • Atletico are level and if they score another - and other scores stay the same - they could be crowned champions tonight!

    5/11/2014 6:30:45 PM
The crowd at the Vicente Calderon are buzzing as Atletico go in search for a winner which will seal their first league title in 18 years if scores stay the same elsewhere.
    5/11/2014 6:34:11 PM
Derby will play either Wigan or QPR in the final, who meet tomorrow night in their second leg at Loftus Road, and Wigan boss Rosler is looking ahead to a potential Wembley clash...
“It was a very impressive demonstration from Derby and it will be tough for whoever plays them, us or QPR.
But any team has weaknesses and any team can be beaten. We have been to Wembley and it is a different game, a different atmosphere. We know what it takes.” – Wigan manager, Uwe Rosler.

    5/11/2014 6:36:13 PM
  • AS IT STANDS! Atletico would remain three points clear of Barcelona - but they travel to the Nou Camp next week knowing a defeat would see Barca leapfrog them on the final day. HOWEVER, an Atletico goal or an Elche goal could see them take the title tonight.

    5/11/2014 6:37:11 PM
  • ELCHE 0-0 BARCELONA [barcelona]
Adriano curls inches wide from outside the area as Barcelona chase a late winner here to keep up the pressure on Atletico.
    5/11/2014 6:40:09 PM
  • ATLETICO 1-1 MALAGA [red-card]
Angeleri is sent off here for an over-aggressive challenge which earns the Malaga defender his second caution of the game. It is also a free-kick to Atletico on the edge of the area.
    5/11/2014 6:43:34 PM
  • Angeleri claimed he had won the ball but the referee deemed his challenge worthy of a second yellow card

    5/11/2014 6:44:13 PM
  • ATLETICO 1-1 MALAGA [added-minutes]
There will be five minutes of added time as Atletico go in search of a winner against 10-man Malaga. Diego Simeone is urging his men forward. A goal would win them the league!
    5/11/2014 6:45:40 PM
  • [full-time] CELTA VICO 2-0 REALMADRID
And a miserable night for Real Madrid ends in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Celta Vigo and the result means Real cannot win the title this season.
    5/11/2014 6:48:26 PM
  • ATLETICO 1-1 MALAGA [save]
A superb one-handed save from Cabalerro to deny Adrian lopez a goal that would have sealed the title for Atletico as a result of Elche v Barcelona finishing goalless.
    5/11/2014 6:50:12 PM
  • ELCHE 0-0 BARCELONA [full-time]
Messi has another late effort for barcelona but Elche's keeper stands firm and the match ends goalless cueing wild celebrations from Elche's fans.
    5/11/2014 6:51:19 PM
  • Diego Simeone knows that Atletico must claim a point from their final match of the season to claim the title

    5/11/2014 6:52:13 PM
  • ATLETICO 1-1 MALAGA [full-time]
The match ends one apiece which means La Liga will go to the final match of the season when Barcelona entertain Atletico. A win for Barcelona would seal the title for them as they have a better head-to-head record than Diego Simeone's men.
    5/11/2014 6:52:54 PM
  • This is what the table looks like after all of that drama. Real Madrid drop out of the title race. Barcelona can clinch the title by beating Atletico next week, but a draw is good enough for Simeone's side.

Norwich will name their new manager within the next seven days, according to a club statement.
The next step is to confirm who will be our manager next season and this process is under way now. Neil Adams, who has done an admirable job in difficult circumstances, is one of a number of candidates the board is talking to. The board will confirm who our manager will be in the 2014-15 season in a statement to supporters within a week.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR GIGGS? [manchesterunited]
As he entered the press room at St Mary's to conduct his post-match media obligations, Ryan Giggs asked for the televisions showing Manchester City's title celebrations to be turned off - and then refused to make a firm statement on his future plans
I'll decide within the next week. I think the managerial situation will be sorted out in the next week. (I'll) think of my own position and decide what I am going to do. Whether to play on or not. Whether to stay on at the staff, what position that is going to be. Whether I take a year off from football. These are the options.

  • ASTON VILLA REACTION [astonvilla]
We haven't reflected on Villa yet in the live blog. Their manager PauL Lambert has told us he is proud of staying up - ahead of a potentially turbulent summer which could see the ownership change hands.
It's been tough (to do my job) but it's not something I've ever shied away from and you're the manager of it, you take it on board and it's probably the greatest thing I've done in my managerial time. What's going to happen over the next week or two will happen. It's a shame to be where it is, but it has been like this for a few years and it's far too much for the club to be here.

    5/11/2014 7:17:59 PM
  • MEL TO HOLD TALKS [westbrom]

Asked if he would like to stay, he replied: "Yes of course. But I think it's very, very important for West Brom to learn from the mistakes of this season. I need to listen to the chairman what is the way for next season."
    5/11/2014 7:19:15 PM
  • TORRES TO STAY? [chelsea]
Think Fernando Torres will leave Chelsea this summer. Potentially not, says Jose Mourinho...
Yes, he's in my plans. He's a good player.
