Weekend live! 9-11 May

  • Sky Sports presenter Vinny O'Connor at Anfield on SKY SPORTS NEWS[liverpool]
There’s never been a goalless draw between these two. They have averaged 3.2 goals per game. Liverpool have enjoyed the upperhand in recent years. Realistically, the omens for Newcastle don’t look good. Liverpool will be confident of getting the three points that could get them the title.

This year has been fantastic. It’s what you dream about. There have been a few disappointments along the way, the last few games have been a bit disappointing but it’s been a fantastic season for Liverpool. Regardless of what happens today, the fans are ecstatic because they know the future is very bright for the club

  • DIETMAR HAMANN on GOALS ON SUNDAY[goalsonsunday]
City can't take anything for granted. They needed two injury-time goals last time and they’ve lost to Sunderland this season, who were bottom of the league at the time. The Villa game is the hardest of the two games and they won that emphatically so it’s hard to see past them and everything needs to fall for Liverpool. I think the experience of winning it two years ago will help City. They won’t play for a draw, they will try to put the game to bed as soon as possible. Liverpool need a fast start too; if they score early on that will make a big difference

I was lucky enough to go on pre-season tour with Liverpool and I could see the belief the manager has instilled in the players. I did honestly think they were capable of getting fourth and they’ve exceeded my expectations, they’ve been superb this season

  • SPOTLIGHT ON MANUEL[manchestercity]
Sky Sports News reporter James Cooper was at the Etihad for Manuel Pellegrini's final presser before the final game of the season. His views are well worth a read.
Since swapping the sunshine of Malaga for the showers of Manchester, Pellegrini has been measured in almost everything he has said and done in England, an uncharacteristic outburst following a Champions League defeat to Barcelona excepted

  • ANFIELD BUILD-UP[liverpool]
Sky Sports presenter Vinny O'Connor is in Liverpool ahead of their clash with Newcastle and witnessed how Brendan Rodgers was dealing with the pressure. Another fine piece to digest over your toast this morning.
Irrespective of whether the improbable becomes reality and Liverpool are able to leapfrog Manchester City, Brendan Rodgers is raising expectations beyond today's season finale with a warning for those who feel it'll be years before Liverpool get another chance to end their 24 year for a 19th league title

  • THE DROP[norwich]
Sunderland's victory over West Brom in midweek effectively sealed Norwich's place in the bottom three with already-relegated Fulham and Cardiff, as results over the past week ensured the climax to the campaign will not be as tense for many teams as had been previously anticipated. Norwich are three points adrift of safety and their goal difference means they are already doomed ahead of their final home game against Arsenal.

  • [betting]So as to measure the scale of Manchester City's position, here's how the bookmakers see the title race on the final day of the season. They're massive favourites at 1/50 to get the result they need. Bet on the title race here.

It was Sergio Aguero’s moment. It was extraordinary. They needed two goals at the end. It was astonishing – whether it happened today we’ll wait and see. It could happen. It was a huge game for QPR and City but West Ham will be inspired today. This is what brings out the best in players. Vincent Kompany told me they had to lose in dignity on that day. They ended up winning with drama and dignity! Two years ago City were the news kids on the block. Now Liverpool are the new kids on the block. City could be going on to a run of success. Two years ago I felt the nation was behind City but I think the nation maybe behind Liverpool today

I’m wearing the same suit as I did two years ago when we beat QPR. Wearing the same suit, scarf and gloves will obviously have a massive impact! I’m nervous but confident. That’s confusing! We’re optimistic. We have to show West Ham total respect. Some of their players seem fired up to do it for Steven Gerrard and Liverpool. We’ve seen during the season this sway towards Liverpool. But we’ve scored 100 goals in the Premier League. People talk about Liverpool as entertainers but we’ve done some entertaining! If City can do it I’ll be over the blue moon!

  • JOSE JIBE[chelsea]
Mr Mourinho is not one to keep quiet on anything and he says Dzeko not Suarez should have been player of the season.
If the champion is Man City, I would say a Man City player and if I have to choose one, I would choose Dzeko. The kind of player he is, he's not just a goalscorer. He assists, he plays, he behaves, he's fair, doesn't dive, doesn't try to put opponents in the stands with accumulation of cards. He was the third (choice) striker at the beginning of the season. He was hidden behind his manager's first choices and when the team needed him in crucial moments of the season, I think he made the difference

  • DZEKO FOR CHELSEA? [charlienicholas]
The Soccer Saturday boys have been debating the value of Edin Dzeko in Manchester City's title push - and Charlie Nicholas suggested other teams should look to snap up Manuel Pellegrini's reserve striker.
You'd want to be buying him. People are talking about Chelsea in the market for all sorts of players - Costa especially. If I was looking for a striker I'd want to buy him. He'll miss chances, but what striker doesn't? It's the variety of goals he scores. I think he could be a big purchase for somebody.
